    Big thank you!!! Had to replace the water pump on our daughter's '95 today. Your video saved me tons of time!! She's back up & running! Less than three hours & $50!!

    Great job ! I recently got the 4.0 notorious knock problem I thought my motor was done. Went to Harbor freight and bought stethoscope and couldn't tell if it was no1 cyl or water pump. Took a chance on replacing water pump replaced it and the problem was cured. Spread the word! Sounds just like a rod knock!

    Great video. I've done this on two early XJs and have not had to remove the power steering or mechanical fan to get the water pump out, it's just a tight squeeze.

    Nick, Awesome vid ! and great tips ! I have 94 JGC and I'm changing out the water-pump and the rad. Both of them are leaking. I've watched vid a couple of times so I can see how you mounted the fan back on. I'm sure the bolt threads slip into the back so they stick out to mount the fan with the nuts again. Anyway, appreciate you making my life easier :) Take Care !
    Any one more thing...Thanks for stepping through the power steering pump removal. Not looking forward to this part :)

    Kay so weird thing here. I got a 95 grand cherokee and i got a leak in the same spot but im not overheating. Any ideas? Its startin to piss me off. Its coming from the back of the pump it looks like. And only leaks occasionally. After driving for a couple hours, no leaks. If it runs for just a few minutes its big leaks.

    I got one for ya. First of all thanks for putting out this video, game me the balls to go ahead and overhaul my 98'. But I have a problem. After replace the water pump with a flow cooler, new belt, radi cap, and lower radiator hose I got it up to temp to have the electric fan kick on and my lower radiator hose collapsed. Kinda at a lost of what to do now other than put a better new hose on. Both radiator and thermostat are at least 2-3 years old.

      @SenileGiraffe 7 років тому

      volnutt c was your cooling system dirty? I had a probably where my radiator was partially clogged and would cause my lower radiator hose to collapse due to lack of flow. Was on a bronco

    • @volnutt1609
      @volnutt1609 7 років тому

      N Perry it was fairly gunky. I had flushed it with Pure water before I changed the pump. Thanks for your reply though, I just figured what might have been cause. It seemed my overflow hose was pinched when I relief it, it swelled up.

    • @NickInTimeFilms
      @NickInTimeFilms  7 років тому +1

      Well, flow kooler is suppose to flow more water, which creates a suction on the lower hose. they came with a spring from the factory to keep them from collapsing, but I don't think they do anymore for some reason. That would help your collapsing issue though

    Just flushed a rusty mess! Replacing straight water (1 year of only water) to finally the recommended coolant, antifreeze, 50/50 peak radiator fliud for a 1995 Jeep cherokee 2.5 L. 4wd 2dr, having 158k. My question is check engine light now pops up after a few miles of driving. I turn it off then back on and the light stays off till couple miles more, whats up with that?
    Cant take it in to the shop

    You can take the water pump out with out taking the power steering pump out, just a little wiggling

    • @NickInTimeFilms
      @NickInTimeFilms  7 років тому +1

      I was able to do that on the 2.5L, but this one was more picky, didn't want to give in. And besides. it's hard to make sure the gasket isn't getting messed up with it in the way

    This worked great for me no leaks all successful. However third time I started it it backfired and now it won't even turn over. I realize this is unrelated to the video but do you have any suggestions. Is it possible I got the timing out tightening the bolts to the water pump cover

    • @NickInTimeFilms
      @NickInTimeFilms  4 роки тому

      Timing chain shouldn't be affected by the water pump at all. That's all hiding behind the timing cover. Unless the previous leak ended up rusting something out. Might be worth doing a compression check or see if TDC on piston 1 lines up with the spark rotor pointing to spark plug 1.

    Hey Nick so I need a second opinion I'm going to diesel swap my 89 xj and I might go with the 4bt Cummins

    • @NickInTimeFilms
      @NickInTimeFilms  7 років тому +2

      Eh heh, definitely not the person to ask about diesel swaps, but from the little that I know it seems like you get tons of torque, but they are slow unless you turbo and all that. Some of the diesel swapped xjs i see just aren't all the impressive. Usually heavy too, but again, lack of intel there due to lack of caring.

    I think you just saved that engine from a hot death, and it looked like a royal pain in the ass to access the pump :-(.
    Are you sure you're not a mechanic nick, nothing phases you really, well a bit of moaning and off camera swearing, and yes we can hear the off camera cussing lol.
    We need a time machine to go back to the designers and give em a good slapping LOL :-D.

      Dam you got me :-D, i did join "Cardboard Fondlers Anonimus", but i ruined the group by smuggling sissors and a cornflakes box into the group, i think my cardboard cup and teabag gave me away :-(.
      I do skip the microcontroller episodes, they dont interest me, lack of cardboard,so if you want to diss the cardboard then pick those episodes lol :-D.
