It is very sad that he is no longer with us, but consider this: he is with the Professor now. Imagine the conversations they are having right now.

His work putting together the Silmarillion is enough to cement his place in the literary world. But he went so far beyond that. Without him JRR's notes and such would be just papers gathering dust. He filled out Middle Earth for us all to enjoy. A life well lived.

I had forgotten that Christopher was responsible for The Silmarillion. You remind us about how much we are indebted to him. Thank you. And may he rest in peace.

Christopher Tolkien truly did love his father and did his best to complete his work yet keeping it intact. That's what I call a good loving son preserving legacy.
Unlike what Frank Herbert's son did to the Dune books.

Christopher is the reason We have very large Balrog. I really do appreciate that. It's those little things he changed in his father's world (along with all of the larger pieces of work he put together) that some people may not know was from him. I'm glad to know a part of him will be immortalized in his father's work and in his own. RIP Christopher :(

      Also @ImSorryDude
I'm from a country where the Democrats would be a centre right party (that is true for many European countries). Ofc the democrats also have left wings, but they seem quite small. I'm personally relatively left (not socialism/communism left though) or progressive. From my observation people in the US seem to have a very different understanding of what "left" is than I have.
When big parts of the Democrats would be considered right in my country, can you imagine how the perception of e.g. the GOP and right people from the US here is (esp. right now)? From our perspective it's almost scary right and I'm from Germany, I know how scary right can look. In addition I'm also on the political left side. That is why I don't want to be associated with Dinesh D’Souza.
I don't understand US politics, even though I look into them a bit. The system, the politicians, what politicians get away with, the ideology behind it, etc. It looks really bizarre to me from the outside.
That's also enough politics for me ^^ YT is not a great place discussing this and our perspectives are probably vastly different.

He for the most part only used writings of his father and I think we are pretty complete here. History of the Hobbit is also not from him, but from John D. Rateliff, who also used Tolkien's material, etc So there are other very good Tolkien Scholars for good content. Christopher Tolkien did not expand own hat Tolkien has wrote and i think the Tolkien community would also see this very critically.

No I can't imagine that. Hollywood already did a lot without his approval and I think his family will have an eye on that. They will never let go of Tolkien's legacy. The Tolkien Estate is also not on the stock market, so they can't be bought without his family selling. In addition there are a lot of Tolkien fans out there and the books won't go away. I will also hint at what is different in the books and my colleagues will do as well ^^

I thin it's looking good so far. Ofc would be nice to see some of the old cast back, but I think it was clear that it's unlikely. If they stick to the lore it looks like we are going to see Umbar, which was established in the Second Age.
