A real pleasure to watch this romantic hero emerge: he's an intense fellow, isn't he? Wonderful source material and pencil interpretation, thank you very much, and I do enjoy your commentaries.

Lovely drawing in your style 👍🏼 Perhaps he was an art student, either in a class setting or under mentorship and this is a submission from assignment or even a once discarded practice piece? Therefore, his name did not get saved with the work. It seems to be somewhat unfinished work, in some places more than others. But I agree, it definitely has charm and wonderful structure and handling of light. On a recent local art museum visit to see an exhibit, I wandered into a part of the museum that held some of the permanent collection, pieces get changed around and come out of the archives sometimes, one display I found particularly interesting was a group of landscapes done by 'students' and their names were not associated with the paintings, you could see they were works by students, but also clearly under very good instruction because the paintings were admirable and had life to them. Many of these student works or unfinished works were probably never intended for display, but we admire them just as much for their techniques and craftsmanship. I even find rough sketches fascinating to look at, sometimes even more than well refined paintings :)

you might be right! I completely agree with you on the unfinished aspect - I was lucky enough to go along to the Sargent exhibition and in it there was a preparatory sketch for madam x - it was completely fascinating and held my attention more than the finished price. maybe in an age of photography and AI we are drawn to authentic but rough ‘in progress’ work more?

I learn a lot from your videos! What do you use to record them? And what kind of lighting you have? I like how soft and warm it is

I record using my iPhone. I usually film in the evening after dark so use a couple of studio lights on a daylight setting and also a lamp to the side. Maybe I should do a studio tour video 😄

Whenever i see you'r videos (more like master Peace for me)i always get inspired and motivated, but when i get to start sketching it gets kind of lost, and i know that you have some solutions for this situation that I'm in so I'm seeking for an advice to make my sketching and drawing time not boring or exhausting. I just want to draw or sketch with JOY
    🙄

if you feel a bit lost then try some more guided tutorials. Sktchy challenge is good, as is Stephen Baumans block in bootcamp. honestly though unless you get it perfect most sketches will be fraustrating and challenging - that means you’re pushing yourself.
boring I’d probably not great though - if it’s so easy you’re not thinking about it then that should be relaxing rather than boring in my experience - maybe you are choosing the wrong subjects in that case? something more inspiring may be helpful there. overall learning drawing is like learning anything else - there’s times where everything comes together and it’s brilliant, but there’s also a lot of hard work and slogging away for most of the process. if possible you need to figure out how to make that process more enjoyable and meditative or it’s going to be an up hill battle!

@katiemaeveart thanks it's very great to get your advice, and BTW I'm from Ethiopia I'm not sure you know it, but I'll try my best as you said. To be honest it's been challenging that i didn't got sketch book or stuff;however, I'm glad i got your help with advice. Don't mind me pls if you felt like I wrote too much. it's because I'm not perfect on explaining my thoughts in ENGLISH. ANY WAY THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS MEANS A LOT. YOU CAN TELL HOW I'M EXCITED FROM MY WRITING.
