Great video. 👊😎 The only thing I'd do differen would be to make sure I open (or at least loosen) the fill cover to ensure I can open it. That's probably not so critical on a hand twisted cover but it's always a good idea to make sure you can access the fill point on any system before draining it.
Awesome vid as usual, well shot and produced! Nice presentation style also, you're quite natural at these. I should note that the 100-series ran until 2007 model year.
Before putting on the oil filter plate, just to be sure there are no leaks I like to start the engine and ensure no drips from the filter.....once I still see it dry for a few minutes then place the cover plate on. I even double check the sump plug....nothing worse than losing your oil while driving.
Thank you! I usually do 3000ish miles before I change the oil considering those miles are usually hard miles. Plus, oil is cheap, engines are expensive 😀
Thanks for the comment. Yes I have added a 1.25” wheel spacer on all 4 corners. Wheels spacers give the car a beefier look, however, it does put more strain on the wheel bearings.
Asif Ali most brands on the market are good quality, however, the land cruiser front hub is big and is a tight fit with the front hub flange nuts. I got mine off amazon and they fit great, just make sure it says it fits land cruiser fronts, and not just tundra
Walmart sells them. FWIW, they only have a small rubber grip to keep them in place. Seems to work okay on concrete. However, on my epoxy’d garage floor, they kept sliding across the floor when I attempted to drive up them. The tires merely pushed the ramps forward. Duct tape on the front of the ramps to secure them to the floor doesn’t work either. I ended up returning the ramps. They really need to improve the design.
Paolo p thanks for the comment, as far as torque wrenches, I would definitely be for it. However, make sure you look up all the correct specs beforehand
Once you use high milage oil you are stuck with it, as it permeates seals and gaskets causing them to swell/prevent leaks.. frequently if you use it, then return to regular oil, leaks begin to happen. I prefer using ATP-205 additive instead, if I'm worried about a leak as it uses other methods to prevent leaks.
I have the lc100 i6 engine config. and I have low oil level light on the dash however the dipstick shows plenty of oil, I couldnt locate the oil level sensor elsewhere on the engine oil pan, dont know if u happen to know whether the lc 100 GX has one?
Thanks for this video. I just did my 2000 LC and used Mobil 1 "High Mileage" and the Toyota filter. Afterwards I was thinking maybe I should have used a Mobil 1 filter which I've seen has great reviews. Have you considered switching from Toyota to Mobil 1 for your filter? Love your videos, you're a natural at this stuff.
Toyota filters have more filter media than Mobil 1. Get both and look through the hole in the top of each, the center void area in the Toyota filter is much smaller because there is more filter media
Thanks for this! I'm going to do it on mine soon. I just have a question. When you did the oil change you had the front end on ramps. this changes the level of the truck. is it possible that you're not getting as much old oil out when you drain it at an angle like that? or does it make it even better? Thanks again.
The drain bolt is at the back of the pan so if anything I drain a bit more out than if it were flat. But check out the video I’m posting tomorrow, I attempt this oil change with no ramps
6.8 quarts? Pretty sure it's 7.2 quarts. At least, my 1998 LX470 calls for that amount. Fumoto valve made my oil changes a breeze....no more 14mm socket and crush washers for me :)
@@Thatguyy7439 constantly take mine off-road. Numerous trips to CO to run trails like Black Bear, Imogene, Tincup, Mosquito and more. Numerous trips to Utah to run the White Rim, Moab and Capitol Reef. Zero issues whatsoever. The fumoto valve sits just aft of the diff drop and doesn't extend below it. As such, it would take a 1 in a billion hit to knock it out. And any hit like that would most likely puncture the pan anyway. I have zero concerns or worries running my rig on very rocky trails with the Fumoto valve.
Every google search for a how to on my landcruiser points to your channel. Thank you!!!
Finally.. someone who understands shorter oil change intervals
Great video. 👊😎

Its a good idea to put a little oil on the rubber bushing and inside the filter.
Kool background music. Love the vibes
Would love a front/rear diff fluid change DIY video. Learning through your videos. None better out there!
Blake Parker thanks for your support! I did the diff fluids a while ago but didn’t get any footage. Maybe it’s time to do them again?? We’ll see
chowcares awesome, looking forward to more videos. I just got a 2001 LX470 and not mechanically inclined. Your videos are giving me confidence to DIY
Good to hear! These trucks are easy to work on, all u need is a bit of patience and you’re good!!
Awesome vid as usual, well shot and produced! Nice presentation style also, you're quite natural at these. I should note that the 100-series ran until 2007 model year.
thanks! and yes, 2007!
Yeah I tell people I'm an 07 and they think 200 series , mine was one of the last to roll off the assembly line

Very true!
You're the best! Thank you man! You just saved me 50% for every oil change going forward! 👍
Alikhan Altynbek you’re welcome!
You should update/change the link to the filter so that people will order the correct filter and not one for a Corolla
You say this is a guide for 98-2006. Is something different with 07s?
Great vibes Chow! Love the vids!
From what I gather its 6.8qt if you DONT change the oil filter, but is 7.2qt if you DO change the oil filter?
great footage . but i have one doubt how many litre u fill just 1 litre ?
the land cruiser uses the 90915-yzzd3 larger capacity filters
D3 all the way
Hi brother cheers from India Kerala
How many litres for LC 100 1999 diesel
In litres please ?
Chow is in the US and we don’t have diesel land cruiser in the US, unfortunately.
Great video. The care part of your channel's name shows very well.
How long or how many miles in between your oil change do you do?
Thank you! I usually do 3000ish miles before I change the oil considering those miles are usually hard miles. Plus, oil is cheap, engines are expensive 😀
Nice cruiser but just let me kn have u added wheel spacer & also it is recommended to add wheel spacer
Thanks for the comment. Yes I have added a 1.25” wheel spacer on all 4 corners. Wheels spacers give the car a beefier look, however, it does put more strain on the wheel bearings.
Thanks bro you would be advise i should go for 1.25 or which brand do I purchase

chowcares thanks for such good info i am not wrong your tyre size is 285/75/16
Asif Ali I’m running 315/75/16
Nice video. Is there a part number for the washers?
Yup! 90430-12031. I’ll make sure I add that to the description
High, great video again!!, question, where can I buy those steps to lift the land cruiser?, thanks for helping people with your videos

You should be using the yzzd3 not the yzzd1 oil filter
What’s your take on using a torque wrench vs not? Thanks to you I just ordered all the tools/parts necessary to do oil change on my Lexus LX 470!
Paolo p thanks for the comment, as far as torque wrenches, I would definitely be for it. However, make sure you look up all the correct specs beforehand
chowcares got it thank you! Do you plan on creating a video on how to grease drive shaft?
Paolo p I’ve greased both of mine but haven’t done a video on it yet. I’ll try to do one in the near future
That would be great thanks!
I noticed the mobil 1 oil you used is not the high mileage type. Is there a reason why you dont use it?
I change my oil every 3k miles, that being said I don’t think putting the high mileage oil would be any more advantageous than the regular synthetic
@@chowcares It contains additives which swell the seals and prevent leaks and drying out. There’s no reason NOT to use it on older machines.

yzzd1 vs yzzd3, have u tried using yzzd3 the higher capacity oil filter? or will that make it too tight in there
Hi
Is it advisable to use fully synthetic oil on 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 vx 4.7 petrol
The 07 has vvti, but the engine is still 2uz. Full synthetic is fine

how many litter of oil for lx470
Same
6.8 quarts if your lx470 has no oil filter. 7.2 quarts if your lx470 has an oil filter.
So, you don't remove the oil cap up above before removing the drain plug to drain? I always thought that was the protocol but maybe it doesn't matter?
Great video bro
Luqman Khan thanks! Hope it helps
Thank you for this!
Great video thanks g.
You’re welcome
Access panels, new LCs lacking a LOT!!! 😢
Cheers matey
Don't forget to rub some new oil on the rubber oil filter seal, it makes it easier to open off the old filter next time.
Keith Armitage that definitely true for most filters, however, the oem Toyota ones come greased and sealed so they’re good to go!
Thanks very much

Those valves are pretty neat, I wonder how they would do off road?
7.2 quarts if your land cruiser has an oil filter. See Owner’s Manual, page 275.
@gary have you taken yours off-road with the Fumoto?

Nice! Clean your engine area first....lol
I would, but it always ends up like this anyways haha
Please get rid of the music.
