I just did this replacement on my land cruiser as part of a slightly bigger job that required more disassembly. The fan mounting bracket contains a bearing, which on mine went bad and made a horrible sound with wobbling. It also had enough resistance to cause the engine to stall while idling. I decided that because my land cruiser had 340k miles, I might as well remove the radiator and serpentine belt to allow me to examine all the drive components and replace what is needed as I go along. I ended up replacing not only the fan bracket, but the serpentine belt, the idler pulley, the tensioner pulley, the power steering pump, the fan clutch and the fan blade itself. Much of this was for preventative maintenance and peace of mind, but I did find more things in need of replacement than just the bracket.
Thanks for the video and the confidence that ensued. Just wanted to say, that I ended up being able to remove the fan and clutch out the bottom of the vehicle, without having to disconnect or remove anything other than that. It just takes a bit of observant manoeuvring. But definitely easier. I then decided to have a look at the clutch itself. Came apart easily, but the screws are easily stripped,so beware folks. I damaged one. The first one. Gave the inside of clutch a thorough clean with various chemicals to remove Al old silicone and residue. Refilled with 15k CST silicone diff oil $20, and good as new, and certainly better than it's ever been while I've owned my wagon. Damn site cheaper than a new clutch. Cheers, and thank you for your video efforts.
Thanks buddy I'm doing mine today as I had my a/c regased and my auto electrician told me fan clutch is gone cheers for your video I can do my self now and save money
Great video man, long time fan of your channel here and I just did this on my 2000 LC, your other videos helped me change what I needed to finally get it running great with no squeaky noises or squeals anymore 👍🏼
As one who did this, i went OEM those nuts between the fan and motor are knuckle busters. Use abundant anti freeze lubricant. Requires a long shaft closed end ratchet wrench and be sure to jerk to loosen otherwise they strip. A good long screw driver to keep it from spinning helps.
Thanks Bro for the helpful video! Bought a 2003 LC 3 months ago and just finished my first big project, replaced the AC compressor! Noticed some squeaking noise after installing the AC compressor, could be a coincidence, any suggestions? Thank you
@Chowcares, can't you fix the old fan clutch by adding more silicone? Silicone is relatively cheap. Not OEM but the silicone they use "Factory Team Silicone" which is relatively cheap. So you can now have 2 clutches that work.
Any updates on the new fan clutch? Is it still doing it's job? Some say put in OEM Toyota clutch and not after market parts. Just curious if the Aisin clutch you purchased through RockAuto is still doing good as I'm debating if I should go Toyota or order one too
Aisin is Toyota OEM. It’s the exact same. Aisin is owned by Toyota and they make the parts for them, only sometimes Toyota parts get labeled Toyota instead of Aisin just for branding

I had almost the same problem on my LC100 and I was able to rebuild the fan clutch myself. You can refill the clutch with silicon fluid
At first glance, Partsouq might be the best deal on these clutches at the moment. Thanks for the video Chow. Very much appreciated.🤙

The thumbnail is labeled as “more hp, more mpg”; did I miss in the video where you discussed how much more?

But one thing is clear a bad fan clutch is one that does not allow you to spin your fan at all at startup.
They can be rebuit by separating both half's and adding oil back into it. Toyota sell fan clutch oil
just did this replacement because my clutch is slipping and would not grab on cold starts.
I've installed the same type of fan clutch you have, now the car's heat is more than usual.
what radiator did you go with there?
checking my fan now!
my 2003 takes forever to warm up……

U are great
If you can't spin it w/your hand, it's toast 4 sure! 😄
Is there an Electric Fan kit for the 100 series? Wouldn't swapping it out for an Electric one give you more power and better gas mileage?
Dude clean under the cover
