I love this series so much and last week I started jotting down a wish list. Here’s what I got: - Big Sur coastal highway - Big Sur is the most beautiful place I’ve been in California. Nothing beats a drive along the highway that snakes up the gorgeous rocky coastline. - Film studio & backlot - Big film studios like Universal and Warner Brothers have ‘back lots’ with fake apartments and downtowns to shoot movies in. Plus sound stages and, in the case of Warner Bros. And Sony, a big water towers in the middle. - Tech hub - like Mountain View or Palo Alto, the home of Google, Uber and most major technology companies - Ski resort - A lot of California’s ski resorts are still active in summers with mountain biking and hiking. I’d love to see an out-of-season ski resort in Cities Skylines. - Suburban Sprawl - Rancho Cucamongo is a great example, but basically immediately outside of LA are vast expanses of suburban sprawl where everything looks the same and is very flat. It’s kind of depressing, those beige towns you pass through and only stop for gas or something to eat. Bakersfield is a similar vibe. - Palm Springs - the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the ‘world’s largest rotating tram car’ and carries you through amazing desert cliffs - Festival Grounds - it’d be neat to do something similar to Burning Man or Coachella I’m sure I’ll think of more, but as someone who loves living in California, witnessing the evolution of Marble Mountain has been super cool. You’ve really captured the wide-ranging environments of the Golden State and I hope this series never ends. Thanks for all of your hard work and I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
In real life, I think that having two ways on a highway so close together at some points would constitute a concrete barrier. Highways without a concrete barrier usually are further apart from the opposite Lane to avoid crashes easier. I noticed this when you first got on the highway.
Actually it’s a pretty common thing, it’s to save money by not having to separate the highways, putting them together means faster development as they are worked on simultaneously instead of one after the other
Love how it looks. Just a tiny tip, highways in the US don't have sidewalks with light posts flanking the sides of the freeway. Lights will be down the center median and there is a shoulder lane, no sidewalks, and definitely not on ramps. Looks good though!
I have a huge tip to add just that much more realism. Its a small detail but there are way too many street lights on your freeways. US freeways dont really have a huge amount of streetlights lined up on the sides, and if they do they're spaced apart quite a bit. Its especially unrealistic towards the beginning of this video before we've entered the city. So yeah, i advise you to get rid of most if not all the streetlights in the rural towns and countrysides of Marble Mountain. Other than that, this looks amazing!
Try to give an overview of the route in the beginning of the video, you can also add district names as car reaches there like GTA! Awesome video!!!! Love from INDIA 🇮🇳❤
remember when we were all excited about simcity 3 being in 3D and we thought we'd be able to do stuff like this? ah good times. and now we just take it for granted.
Same lol, though not at 9 AM for me. I feel like it reminds me of a song or two from a TV or movie soundtrack, could be Hell on Wheels or Hatfields and McCoys or something. I’ll have to dig through my music library
Ah I knew it. “And They’re Off” from the Hell on Wheels soundtrack is the song I was thinking of! I recommend that one for a somewhat similar kind of song. Raw country/bluegrass sounds. EDIT: some aspects of the song in the video also remind me of The Devil Makes Three’s “Down In the Valley” I think. (Thanks for lending your comment reply section to my brain lol)
@@Meeesa Lol I have a lot of Appalachian, bluegrass, country blues, old west, and raw country sounding songs on my spotify so I can definitely recommend some. Can't get much more raw than say "Too Old to Die Young" by Brother Dege, "Old Friend" by the Allman Brothers Band, or "Dig Gravedigger Dig" by Corb Lund. Of course I also must suggest "Lonesome 77203" by Billy Don Burns, as it inspired my username!
Beautiful! My inner roadgeek offer one bit of constructive criticism though - nobody would ever put split-rail fence next to a highway like that. Guess where at least one of those rails is going to go if it's hit at a shallow angle!
Hey 2:20! Just a suggestion: I noticed that the train in this video, nearer to the beginning, kind of dipped down. I America, trains rarely do this. to avoid downhill and uphill slippage in weather, tracks are normally as level as possible.
haha i'm using the same country tracks from epidemic for my editing job. love your work. you are inspiring me to take the step of recording my cities and planet zoo creations. now all i need is time...
Always crazy and enjoy seeing your cities and work. Know my computer/laptop doesn't have th8s ability even if gaming. But! Still fun seeing what can be done...even if don't have all the mods. Keep up the awesome work!
looking at this confirms my thoughts about how a compatibility layer between a wide variety of games would be great GTA, Sims, the next generation of Cities Skylines and probably a bunch more, having the first person gamers and family simulators play inside a world built and hosted in Cities Skylines, and further expanding it through a region model, so multiple Cities can interact in a way
I kinda wish passing on highways and roads existed in Cities: Skylines. It would be cool for cars and SUVs to pass trucks, but with the way vehicles currently plan their routes, I doubt that this would work unless they completely restructured the game. Though, they maybe could make a system so that, based on the urgency of the vehicle, they could drive above or below the speed limit. So like, trucks passing through don't need to travel that fast in the left lane, but if there's, let's say a Soccer/Football match in town, the tourists could speed in the left lane passing all the other cars and trucks? I don't know, just a thought. Also, who tf would dislike this video? This video is awesome!
Hey there! I was just curious as to what settings two dollars twenty is using on his visual mods, as I have recently started a save game on the Marble Mountain map but the colours especially look quite dissimilar to his.
I would look at all the roads on the map if all day long, I love seeing how well detailed it is, and it is mostly due to the reliefs, it is not like most cities that are all flat, this is a real city I love it very much < 3
This looks more like GTA than CS, what an incredible amount of detail
