      Just got this one... thinking of returning it for an S2, but it sounds great for 1/3 the price. I don't like how the volume knob only gets dirty tones from 9-10, so maybe a different pot would help that, but it cleans up really nicely. Hard to say. It's also a little too red for me, I might need the s2 in blue... and purple.
      edit, I also bought locking tuners for it
      EDIT: took it to GC to compare it with an S2 and a core Custom 24. The s2 and core were much better sounding, BUT, it could be said that the tone of the SE 24-08 is just fine. It is lacking some warmth and clarity, some twang. The SE sounds thin in comparison.

      @amihai_bl That's a great color choice. I really love the green on that! That's how all my PRS guitars have been, actually most guitars I buy. I don't even try beforehand. I just buy them and so far I've received duds.

    • @Austin_Westtt
      @Austin_Westtt  Місяць тому +1

      I totally agree! Even if you wanted the core model you could just take the pickups and you would save so much money. When they're coming out with colors like these, it is so hard to sell yourself on getting a core model. Even the S2 lineup has just released some cool wood libraries that are $2,400 and I'm sure if if you wait you can snag a great deal. Thanks for watching!

    Bought one used for $600 in '22 and replaced the tuners with locking ones, replace the nut, upgraded to a Mann Made bridge, swapped pickups with SD Hot rodded pickups. It's basically perfect now. Then I bought a Jet JS-400 for the price of the bridge about 5 months ago and haven't put it down. Go figure. I think I gravitate to the Jet because it's a little lighter and easier to play for longer. Still love the PRS though.

    • @Austin_Westtt
      @Austin_Westtt  Місяць тому

      I actually did a video on the jet JS300! Those guitars are an absolute steal for the money. Also, awesome upgrades on that PRS. I will say if you make the upgrades or even if you would pay a luthier to do the nut and the upgrades you're still way under having to pay for a core model. I will say the core models play the best out of any guitar I've ever touched. However, in today's age you can obviously snag a great guitar for under $1,000 with upgrades! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

      @Austin_Westtt I remember saying that when I got my Charvel Style 2. The fishman classic is so versatile. my favorite tone from it is the voice 2 neck pickup. Its surreal. And the single coil mode 100% sounds like a telecaster. Anyway, a year after that I bought a 61 Gibson SG.

    Got mine in Lake Blue last week and Named her after my wife! Thats her in my profile pic...The old joke about better gear making you play better is REAL! I seem to play better because the instrument is very forgiving...it sounds so good mistakes dont seem to stand out as much and are easy to incorporate into my Jam..I have a BAD case of G.A.S. so this wont be my last guitar, but the bar for the next one is so high it will be a while before I indulge myself again! • @demian113
    @demian113 24 дні тому +1

    Great playing and demo! I bought one the minute they released and I have zero regrets. The pickups, switching, and maple neck give it such a great snap for those single coil strat-ish and P-90 tones. No, it doesn't spot on nail a strat quack or tele twang, but it's definitely in the ball park.
    At this point imho PRS have their own sound so I try to judge them on their own merit. I play a broad range of styles and this is a swiss army knife guitar. Plus the ebony board plays great and I honestly have never seen an SE look this good. For comparison I have a core CE 24 and an S2 limited run Custom 24 in a similar charcoal cherry with an ebony board and honestly I've been hooked on this SE 24-08 lately.
    The Indonesian factory has leveled up big time and that veneer is gorgeous! It actually beats both my Japanese and Korean built ESP and Ltd guitars. The SE line just keeps improving!

    • @Austin_Westtt
      @Austin_Westtt  24 дні тому

      Yeah everything you have just stated is 110% agreeable! I really can't believe how they're doing that because I remember specifically playing PRS probably just even 2 years ago and they were subpar in my opinion. And now I will say the esssie line may be their best because I just picked up an S2 PRS that's brand new with the american-made components and the PRS SE ce24 blew it out the water and that was around $2,000 less!
      And they definitely do have their own sound, especially when they have the split coil features. Or like you see in the 24-08 the option to really get eight different tones and then some. It is a Swiss army knife of guitar! Thanks so much for your input and watching. Really appreciate that!

    • @Austin_Westtt
      @Austin_Westtt  15 днів тому

      Hey, great question! I'll kind of have a different appearance as they are all not made to look exactly the same. So different shades of those quilt tops will be seen with those various models. These do have the lampshade knobs and the TCI pickups are more vintage down as they are supposed to represent more of a p90 esque pickup. These are also the TCI 's' pickups which are the overseas manufactured PRS pickups. Thanks so much for watching and great questions!

    I had never liked PRS much, but lately, the SE series has really been catching my eye ! This one is visually beautiful, and has a tremendous soundscape capability. I don't know much about their trem system, but it could always be replaced by a Vega Trem and a TUSQ nut, if necessary. I'd like to know the price, but there may be a link in the description... There is not. Why do a video about a new guitar, then not link to it ? Pretty stupid, 'eh ?
    I looked it up. It's roughly $806.00 US dollars most places... Damn decent price for such a versatile guitar !

      Hey! Thanks so much for watching! I actually was never a PRS guy. I've always played Gibson. I actually bought a ton of PRS back in the day and sold them all. But this new SE line is incredible and I don't know what they're doing or who's working on these, but this is the top the line PRS SE line that I've ever experienced.
      The reason I don't put a link in the description is because if I put a link to a certain store it may actually be more overpriced than what you can find. I highly suggest going on. Reverb.com and searching for a guitar then Harding it so you can like it and they will eight times out of 10. Send you an offer that is lower than what the listing price is.
