Like the ending or not, but this triology was probably the best SciFi RPG that has ever been released. Even ten years after it's initial release I'm hungry for more and I can't let go of it.
@@khamza111 I'm with both of you!! (yes I know your comment commenting on a then 3 years old comment is 3 years old) I finally played ME3 in late 2020 for the first time and I loved every minute of it. I didn't even have a problem with the ending and am now irritated by people who tell others to stay away from ME3.
All three mercenary groups felt the same. Only difference was a uniform change. And you can't possibly think the last two games had more variety in terms of enemies. 90% of all enemies in ME 1 were geth. BioWare did a great job designing each of the three major enemy types and provided enough diversity to make each one fell different.
It makes total sense with the Extended cut and Leviathan DLC, im not saying thats good because it shouldnt have been a problem to begin with, but at least they tried to fix it. Better than most game developers.
It's November 2018, and I'm about to play the trilogy again. I've lost count how many times I've played this game. The characters are the most memorable of any game I've ever played, including MEA. I've grown to accept the ending although I think it has to do more with politics inside Bioware/EA than the way the game was supposed to end. Killing off Shepard wasn't necessary to end the series. COD Modern Warfare is my second favorite with regard to characters and Capt. Price survived and it ended with him smoking a cigar. Again, the ending was driven by inside politics and it shows in MEA. I think in hindsight the door would have been better left open, maybe not with Shep's story but with some of the other characters for pre or post ME. MEA is a playable game and I have played it multiple times because it's the only new ME material we have other than books. The Asari look bad, Humans are a close second, but the other races look pretty good. I think the writing was not near the level of writing in the Trilogy. I do like the nods to the trilogy and wish critics would have not been so hard on it to kill the series, because the series can still be relevant. Andromeda still has several different avenues that could be explored if Bioware wishes to bring it back to life. My opinion is that too much time was spend on the planet to planet animations (which were beautiful, but I skip it after the first playthrough) and not enough time on the faces. The books about Andromeda, specifically Cora and Sloan Kelly were actually a better story than a lot of the main story of Andromeda. If Bioware would make another, fix the Asari and human animations and bring back the writers of the trilogy they would save and make millions on ME again. If the women looked like Miranda and Liara, that would help. Get rid of the SJW's and make a game worth playing again.
Anyone who hasn't played ME3 with the Leviathan and Extended Cut DLC needs to do that before criticizing the final mission of the game. Bioware deserves a lot of credit for revisiting things that were confusing or seemed to come out of left field and resolve the open ended issues from the original game. I'm lucky... I never played the game last year, so I have only experienced the improved conclusion to the trilogy.
Couldn't agree more ME3 had some of the best moments in the entire trilogy but people forget them too quickly because of THAT ending. I have to ask though you mentioned Mordin and Legion but what about Thane, being at his side with his son while he passed away was beautifully done.
While I was disappointed with the ending, I loved Mass Effect. I loved curing the genophage, loved giving Tali her home planet back, was heart broken when Legion and Mordin died, and will never forget the Krogan saying that on their planet Shepard would be known as Hero. Those are amazing peices of story. Its a shame people are so blinded by the not so good ending to a story thats been so amazing and good to us. ME4will redeem itself. Even if Shepards story is over, we'll still get to be back
I don't care what anyone says, I love Mass Effect 3. I mean, sure, the ending wasn't what I expected, but I admire Bioware's balls for giving us something different, and I'm sure they have their reasons for going with the ending they went with. I loved that Shepard actually gets really emotional nearing the end and that it even effects his psyche and having nightmares. The scenes with the boy in his dreams burning into ashes and Shepards reaction to it really got to me.
Well, you're wrong, depending on your EMS. there are 3 red options, 2 blue options and 1 green option. You have 6 different endings plus the refusal ending.
This will probably get a lot of shitty replies and thumb downs but I think that the ending was fine and you shouldn't judge a game because of 1% of the game. And for those who say that they didn't listen to the fans I say, they did re-do the ending didn't they? Name any other gaming company that will actually fix a problem that is as big as a "bad" ending. So before you start replying to this comment with "Fag" and "Bitch" comments understand that this is just my opinion. Thank you.
I agree, I don't care about the boy dying, I just thought it was surprising that Shepard took his death so personal and, you know, actually showed some emotion. Up to this point, Shepard had been rather stale in his emotional state, you have to agree, which of course is badass in a way, but I really like that they broke that barrier and made him more emotional now that so much is at stake. That is all.
I absolutely despise the ending, but my problem lies with the incomplete games I buy thinking I'm getting my moneys worth. Want to encounter a Prothean and learn about the Reapers? 20 dollar. There are 11 main dlc's = around $100 and these dlc's in one way or another or are presented in a way that affects the story. So if you want the full game, you have to play around $100 on top of the $60 that the base trilogy costs. And with the multiplayer and microtransactions it's just beyond sickening.
If the feedback really mattered then the ME 3 endings would have been addressed in the LE. They took the time to censor Miranda’s ass, like that means anything. I’m hoping that ME 4 has no woke crap in it.
You think the time it takes to adjust a camera position and writing/recording/animating/designing/modeling a new ending are remotely comparable? Would take the full team, months of work, and $$$$ I wish the endings were different, but thinking the studio would take that time, and basically admit their original ending was bad, is a pipe dream.
I see what you're saying. I'm sorry to say that I've never played Deus Ex and have no idea what the ending is like. All I did was watch glimpses of it when my older brother was playing it. But from you and a lot have been saying it's very much the same as the ending to ME3. And I agree with what you're saying about the boy and such, but I just thought it was a different ending to the Mass Effect trilogy than I expected, especially since it's an RPG/TPS. I just wanted a Baldur's Gate 2 ending. :(
There are only three enemy types. Reaper Forces, Cerberus, and Geth. All which are missing Geth Colossus, Praetorian, that other thing that shoots shockwaves, Mercs, ANYTHING from ME1 or 2. Even those robots. And yes there are glitches. You can't possibly say that there isn't. It needs a patch.
@ARavingLooony Huh? You didn't have to wear a helmet at all if you didn't want to in ME2. In fact, my Shepard wore a visor. Going to a planet with a harsh atmosphere is the only instance in which you were forced to wear a helmet, as far as I can remember.
Introducing a new character in the last 10 minutes? Changing the major themes of the franchise to "synthetics vs organics"? Boiling all player choice down to a fork in the road? Yeah, Mass Effect 3's ending isn't the shit... it's just plain shit.
The dreams were hilariously bad. I couldn't have cared less about that little boy. If it had been a character like Anderson or Ashely dying at the beginning, I would care. But some kid I don't know? So what? And the ending is not different. It's a Deus Ex Machina that was found in none other than.... wait for it.... Deus Ex.
"the fans have a voice that gets heard" Really? I didn't recall anyone say "Ruin the ending with plot holes and tons of things that don't make any sense at all!"
Extended Cut Fixed the ending, also Leviathan DLC fixes the last couple of problems with the plot. What did people want? Happy Rainbow everybody survives ending? Fuck that.
Doesn't change the fact that HE LIED TO US about the muti-faceted ending we were SUPPOSED to get. He sists there and says your not goign to get ending A, ending B or ending C type game, AND GUESS WHAT CHUM, What did we get? A,B and C ending! He's a goddamned liar, Plain and simple.
Hey Casey, if the fans voices are truly being heard. How about fixing the ending to mass effect 3? Unless you're going with the indoctrination theory for ME4 if so, don't fuck that up yeah?
So you BW looks a at list, so they did this before ME3. Hmm, exploration is gone, side missions consist of shooting everything that moves, the game is less RPG like than ME2, which is pitiful (they want the COD audience they said, so they destroyed what ME was), dialog options are to a minimal unlike ME1&2, still no unlimited ammo & no reloading, ammo types are still exclusive to classes & are powers, instead of bought at the store. 2-17-13 249pm
Like the ending or not, but this triology was probably the best SciFi RPG that has ever been released. Even ten years after it's initial release I'm hungry for more and I can't let go of it.
Haha, and we're all playing it all over again!

For me, the Citadel DLC was the real Mass Effect ending.
I loved ME3 I don't care what anyone says.
IMO the Extended ending dlc fixed the ambiguity the ending had. The game is top notch. I just hoped they would fix the quest tracking system.

Watching these interviews after ME LE is cool. Wish this guy was still there hope bioware can find there way back to quality NEW games.
The original team is working on the next game.
I LOVE this! Thank you Mr. Hudson for saying that the feedback matters. That matters to the fans VERY MUCH.
EA's fault, not his.
And thats why my friend, that Mass effect is one of the best game series that was ever made.
His sincerity makes the endings even more painful to think about. I hope he gets that we still love the game as a whole.
Such innocent times...I miss them.

@Honda8994 if you equipped the death mask, you were forced to wear it throughout the game even if you were in the citadel or illium.
they did fix it
