Lesson learned Sorin, this is why why I always insist the customer brings their charger with the laptop, that way I can check the charger at the same time. Great video never the less!
This is why I always ask the customer for the ac adapter when working on a laptop. Never assume always verify
I wouldn't necessarily say 'wrong' but maybe more of an oversight. You shared an experience with us and it shows that the learning never ends no matter how much experience you have. You figured it out. 🙂
You are that good you can repair machines even when they are not in the shop, thats just magic
Good evening sorin... I have a laptop repairing business in mauritius island and my repair learning journey started after watching one of your videos in 2018.
Concerning this video I had a similar situation last week where I had a hp 440 g6 motherboard repaired and switching on but taking 9A with my DC power supply... Now that mistery is solved thanks to your experience and repair videos
You always seem to get the interesting faults Sorin.
Hey - you made no mistake. You found the error. I love your way of bughunting with 5A and fix them with a proper calibrated fuse and hot glue. Big RESPEKT!!!
It's good that you're wrong from time to time, it proves that you're not a laptop repair robot. You are still one of the best! :)
This is good info to know. Thanks for sharing. I really need to replace my switching power supply with a linear one. Everything I've seen only goes up to 3A though.
Not if I worked on it before you... If the relay is clicking like a cricket and the screws are missing you know where it came from... :)
A search for "5A linear PSU" should get you useful links. As linear PSUs are quite weighty, you might prefer one with a handle on the top, or you can add your own. (10 A is another "standard" size, with a commensurate increase in weight and price.)
the protocol for power delivery the Charger IC ----> tells the Adapter what it wants inside the adapter there is an mcu listening to the charger ic , in effect the adapter is a constant voltage constant current power source which in turn offloads the requirements on the laptop charger circuit
Hi Sorin we all get caught some time, no needs to start the dancing school yet ,we all learn for other peoples mistakes, great video
With what I have witnessed on your channel, you should demand that the customer bring in their power supply along with their laptop. If they want a repair done.
Absolutely, always bring the charger.
I always have the complete device with all accessories given to me and also test in this "environment". 😉
"we have a nice charger, proper nice usb-c charger laawl, i've been trolled ha ha, that's soo craaazy! *bubbles the vape* " - Sorin
It's always when too many options are given...Nice find, very noted.
GOOD information!
Very interested case.. 3 amps is hectic for that battery.
it's like ASUS Zephyrus Duo that support normal charger and USB C charger
the only different is normal charger have higher amps and support for higher cpu and gpu performance
Great man great master you are amazing Sorin.
My thoughts soon as your power supply hit max amps, charger is most likely a 6.4amp charger.
In my native language, your name means: person (serene, calm, quiet, peaceful) and I sincerely think that you deservedly honor that name that your parents chose for you. Another way of saying it, the opposite of me...😊lol. Thank you very much for sharing. A brotherly and affectionate greeting from Mexico.
I THINK the topology of the bench power supply (linear vs SMPS) doesn't necessarily determine if it can/should have a relay on its output - I think both types can have one if the overcurrent circuit is designed to cut off the output entirely when the set limit is reached....in which case I think it's not possible to have a CC mode, as that would be the point where it cuts out anyway...
There are power supplies which support both constant current mode and overcurrent protection.
Sorin, you are Top Man ❤
Blue Tip has 7.7AMPS for docking station adapter
Awesome work always enjoy watch your video. Excited videos and motivated with your experience repair...
That was very interesting even if it was not broken
Interesting.
Intresting case but what's the power characteristics written on the back of the laptop?
Looks like you need to upgrade your bench power supply…a two channel will be nice for more power
Sorin : this is a nice laptop😂😂
Do you ever get bad laptops on your desk??
Would you even bother to send a cheap one for repair?
I'm curious what is written on the back cover. Hp always give the information about max current and voltage of power supply. The manual of this laptop doesn't mention fast charge. The max wattage of power supply is 65W. What the hell ? I still believe something is wrong with this laptop... And if i'm right, the fast charge option should be in Bios, you can enable or disable it. If it is not there, the battery or motherboard is faulty. Just think about it Sorin over 6A in fast charge it doesn't make sense for such low power laptop. And one more thing you have this universal blue pin charger adapter. It has resistor built in, it is speaking with th the charging circuit what wattage of power supply you connect. This blu pin is rated max 65W, so why the motherboard is tsking over 5A. Hp doesnt have blue pin chargers rated over 6A.
there's blue pin charger rated more than 6A . I have HP gaming laptop blue pin 180W blue pin charger like 9.2A . nothing wrong with the motherboard . if he connect 120W or above charger will be no cut off it is called fast charging same as phone fast charging
What is the model of your chsrger ?
Many hp bluepins exceed 6A, I had an omen for 11.3A
No more shop repairs? :( I miss the shop videos.
Sorin, Come to Besiktas and I'm thinking that laptop still have problem at when saving screen power ...when start screen saver you have 5 amps...maybe I'm wrong...
Is Sorin making produced videos now?
"Live" videos are the best.
Hello Mr Sorin.
Can you tell me which reference and where you purchased the universal plugs including cord for connecting the different brands of laptops to their power input port. I see that you have a special plug for DELL, HP, ACER, etc. Please return your answer. Best regards and thans in advance. Andy
I think Sorin boughgt a universal adapter and just cut the cord and tinned the wires so that they can be used on his bench power supply
also with laptop with that specs i would expect different amps asking from charger idk this are just guesses
Hi sorin.. the laptop has a smbus.. I was wondering . U can read smbus battery data . Surely it can be written to like the nlba battery analyser.. because the battery is connected to the io Chip Wich ready the battery already..
What brand/model thermal imaging camera do you use??
Logic engineer ❤, powe supply engineer 😢
Nice
Hello dear friend sorin💪👏A little coffee and this problem will be gone☕
What time is Coffee time? I'm in the US central time?
Probably like 4AM your time
Cool..
Nice!
i guessed good ! wrong charger ! HAHA had similar issue thats why i was making guesses :)
Sorin, what is the connectors you are using for connecting those laptops to Power supply ?
Yes I would love to know and buy these too!
Cut an old charger cable and connect it to bench power supply
Just below the video screen is the description, if necessary click where it says More:
a) My Tools (click)
b) Icon or Photo 24 Items (click)
c) look for the image where it says HKY. All the best.
You have link of the cammera termal or name cammera, thanks
Yes HP trolled you !!
😂😊🤓🤟👋😃 Ok Tomorrow Coffee...
0:13 its a nice one = he mean, its damaged and on my Table 🙂
The current is changing very randomly very weird is it normal for lithium ion batteries to exceed the 5A on the fast charging mode i wish you've used your old psu that has 10A output and make a conclusion
Video can't open subtitles sorin
It takes time for UA-cam to generate subtitles.
thanks bro. I saw it
Go wrong on this way must be happy because you don't kill the noteboot. Other shop may be kill it.
there is a frog in your power supply 🤣
❤
the guy uses some kind of o.c. software for amd. jst to kick of the poor vrm of hp laptops.
Stii vorba noastra romaneasca, cat traieste omu' invata. Tot asa invatam si noi.
Lol what a troll, good video regardless haha 😉
8:30 wot no charging? 😄 (80's joke)
Frustrating! I am confused why the customer sent it in if they had a working USB C charger?
That's the point. The customer's charger is dead. The laptop is fine.
@@incandescentwithrage I'm surprised the repair shop did not request the charger before investigating, would seem a logical place to start before dismantling the laptop.
im on start of video on 5 min but maybe that laptop need bigger charger ? :/ stonger one idk why but maybeee lets see
👍👍👍👍
I thought usb C was fast charging , now you says there is another even faster charger , blue pin ? I thought usb C was the agreed fast charging in Europe and all devices would use this standard.
'Fast charging' has different meanings for every device, here is a gaming laptop, where the usb-c it will never be a fast charging port
@@electronicsrepairschool ok , these gaming laptops seem to have lots off problems . must be too much heat or something
maybe the customer has enabled High Performance power option and the laptop is more demanding in terms of electricity.
Hi Sorin , please in your next video explain how did you connect your charging cable to Dc Power Supply. thnx
he explained it in the live streams - he is using 2 cables plus and minus from the power supply to connect to the universal connector cable and if the laptop has third pin for protection, this is done inside the removable connectors that came with the kit.
@@ДимитърАндонов-ъ7е can you give me a link auch . please , i would like to watch it ...
@@ittesttest4172 search his video for the live stream on June 17/18th
👌👌👍👍
I wouldn't say you were wrong, more like mislead imo.
You need to charge for your time ..fixed or not
No! We can't charge for our mistakes
You can't charge for something if you don't know what the fault is.. lol that's not right. After seen what is the problem is, the yes...
Hello🤝👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👋👋👋👋👋
Nu cred lol
the blue pin charger is 3.3 A not over 5 A . this laptop still has a fault
No, Actually every seller on google selling 3.3A and 4.7A charger for this laptop, is wrong and it will never work! The genuine hp charger for this laptop has to be over 6Amps
I suppose that a 3.3 A charger should still work fine and deliver 3.3 A ? And not overheat?
The problem here is that the power supply is cutting out on high limit.
But a 3.3 A charger should deliver 3.3 A (max) and not more.
Sorin, what is max power of your usb-c charger? Maibe the 1.4 amps at 20V is max out your charger if is 30W and stays limited there. If is so with a bigger charger will take more current. Sorry if i’m wrong…i dont know what charger you are using ❤
@@electronicsrepairschool the HP website lists the charger at 65 watts . roughly 3.3 A . is a shame your power supply cant go up to 6 A to test your theory
HP and Dell often have issues with non genuine power adapters.
So the real test would be testing with a genuine HP blue pin adapter?
Hahahhahahaha LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. That reassembly will be pain.... ;)
hallo marvel civil war HD!
One word LOL
first one 😊
so what?
👍
@@kaiserschnitselsr Definitely it matters!
