What makes it even more impressive is that it isn't even a solo. Just some insanely sweet riffage.
Been four years since I lost one of my best friends. I used to play this on guitar and he’d jam it on drums. Then boom...I wake up to a text saying that he took his own life. Crazy how one second you’re jamming out to a song about suicide then wake up and have to actually deal with it. Especially with the person you loved playing this song with
I'm so sorry man
I understand your grieving, man. I lost several friends throughout high school. But if anyone here is a believer. If you could pray for me. I've been struggling with the thoughts again recently. Heavily actually. It'd be cool. Even if you're question, or don't believe. What could it hurt to do it. I'm honestly begging. I'm struggling so hard.
@@Beanys728 hang on there, friend.
@@Beanys728 hang in there bro. If not for you for everyone you care and hold dear. Trust me life is far from easy but to say you did it without regret and to the fullest ur capable of doing is what makes it worth it in the end. Ur part of one the greatest musical orientated families out there and we want you here.
Peace to you brother
@@Beanys728 stay strong buddy
Who else is here watching in 2020? Love these guys. Saw them live a few years back and the singer got so hammered he forgot a lot of the words to this song and we all laughed together.
Just found the guys today with release of "the canary" but so far this is my favorite song
Anarchy welcome aboard!! This song is great!
@@christospietris now I'm working my way through their albums, almost done with kezia XD
2020 is so last year dude, gotta catch up with the times bro.
@@AcidxAnarchy Literally every albums is solid, its nearly impossible to make a playlist...
This song will always strike a chord in my soul ❤ I can’t believe this video only has 1.3 million views.. you guys deserve so much more thank you
Protest The Hero are insanely talented. absolutely amazing band.
this rody guy is blessed with awesome vocal chords......jesus christ.....
Best guitarist ever:
Stops mid-solo to straighten his mustache...
so much win
Ive been listening to this son every morning for like 2 weeks now.
Great song to wake u up in the morning
this band needs more recognition
+patrick cruz I totally agree. Just got hooked like 10 minutes ago and I'm sold. They're really a bunch of talents making awesome music.
patrick cruz yes👏
8 years later and sad to say they still do.
Such a haunting song and video.
guitars at 1:40 ARE ORGASMIC
Finn Green dat bass tho
+Finn Green Mathcore bitchies.
So is that moustache twirl
love this song
2024 is sweeter since this song was written
So, first song I hear from this band. This was on recommended, probably because of The Fall Of Troy, but I'm so fucking glad I found this. Everything's perfect. Killer riffs, perfect drums and bass and this guy's voice fits so well. Thanks UA-cam, you finally suggested something cool
listen to kezia the whole album is perfect
fuck that, listen to every damn thing theyve ever released. All of their full lengths are some of the best in prog metal to this day.
id say the same. im personally a bigger fan of Fortress than any other album.
Oh man, I'm gonna have to disagree. The only song on Volition I thought was forgettable was Mist. Also, Skies is now my favorite PTH song. That said, I can see why you'd think the album was mostly forgettable. You can really notice Moe's absence on the ones he didn't do (in my opinion at least) and without Moe's drumming PTH just doesn't sound the same. I personally liked it, but I can totally see why you might not like it as much as me.
For me Scurrilous and Volition are master pieces
I havent listened to Kezia and Fortress, but judging by the comments they are true perfection, so I will have to add them on Spotify haha
Also, how do you rate Pacific Myth?
The fact of Moe (And Chris) and Arif did not record gives me bad feelings :/
These guitars are killing it
'Stepped off a building to find some concrete evidence, concrete evidence that he ever made an impact' is such a clever fucking lyric. The wordplay! Whoever wrote that is a fantastic writer. I love it!
This group be a member of those who are badly known but so good!!! It is inequitable...
I love this band, saw them twice live! Great performance and funny musicians
Total chills listening to these vocals!
Shoutout to Ray!! YEA YEA YEA YEA
Awesome song, no fucks to give about the genre.
I just found this and i LOVE it, i seriously wish it was longer because i can't, i REFUSE to stop listening to it.
how the hell can they be so energic energetic whatever, sitting down!
I wish I would have known about these guys sooner! What a voice! :)
It's really fucking crazy the range his voice has.
"(C'est la vie!) the little things that killed you make you glad to be alive"......... that's some deep poetic stuff right there
damn. the riffs these guys make are awesome
I
Loving the moustache adjustment before the awesome resumes.
why can't i tired of this music?
Woooooo!
I will never forget the day I played Prodigal by OneRepublic in class and a classmate of mine said it sound so depressing.
I would have loved for her to have hear this afterwards.
this song is amazing really catchy cool guitar work
Well down to the director of the video. Nailed it
good one.
@lipailong2 Because their the best band ever, and deserve more fans
God, I love this song.
1:52 harmony sounds so good.
Read the lyrics to the song and then watch the video it makes perfect sense.
I HEART MY SCURRILOUS TAB BOOK!
every time. EVERY TIME im like "holy shit" at the end of their songs
Da fuq? Not my style but certainly cant deny this is a very very very talented like off the wall ridiculously great group.
@iamawsum100 I would kill to see them in concert, the problem is that I'm from Colombia, stupid fate! I wish someday I could see them live, they are my favorite band so that would mean the world to me.
can i propose the idea that they have such good music is because of the awesome facial hair? who knows, they might not be as good they sound but were hypnotized by the beards
A degree is a degree, i.e. demonstrates you can work at a standard that it will (in theory) gain you, as a graduate, access to higher paid jobs. Music in itself is a widely recognised subject by employers as it requires serious organisation, self-evaluation, communication, technological skills, as well as covering other subjects: history/language/maths etc. A music graduate from a good university will have as much chance in a job application as a astrophysicist or a medical graduate.
Liked this so hard
Between the Buried and Me has a song called "Foam Born (b)" and if you go around the 4:20 mark you'll get a taste of it. It's very similar to this.
Appreciated!
I know that this is like a year later but I've been questioning that for the longest myself. I always thought of that myself.
I believe that the drooling part is referring to becoming old and finding yourself one day in the nursing home. During this part he begins to list all of these problems that are just the little things, hence "such is life"...the last line implies ( I think ) that if we're killing ourselves over nothing then what's stopping us from doing it when shit really hits the fan.
@Ank1tAggarwal I reckon Rody's lyrics are poetical in a honest kinda way. His work is purely emotional for example Tapestry or Dunsel. The part where he sings "All these songs sound so damn good, even if their meaning's hollow". I mean, that's just the perfect reflection of the musical industry nowadays. And the beginning of the song where he sings "And when the underworld's best kept secrets, saw its own reflection". Beautiful in my opinion.
најбоље!
@rwfsmith well played.
Am I the only person who thinks Rody Walker looks a bit like a more beefy Aaron Paul?
hahaha, I was just thinking that so I Googled "Rody Walker Aaron Paul" and saw this comment. He definitely does.
Wow, he kind of looks like him, lol
This was the year Rody learned to apply vibrato to his mid-range.
I was 21, and this album is responsible for everyone asking me to save some p**sy for the rest of them.
@ray625164 on their video sequoia throne a few minutes in the bassist shoots a pretend arrow with one of the notes.
It's like if Hoobastank all sat down and mastered their instruments
Hearing pafts of symphony x, but vocals are heavier but awesome in a diff way.
@KickYourAssTomorrow He is awesome even life and the songs they do are difficult as hell. And I think they all have awesome personalities and I will be more than happy to see them over and over again :D My second favourite show ever :D
they remind me of rush mixed with dream theater. i love it
@23Birdman13 Then it would just be a typical, screaming band. The vocals, along with how the songs are structured with all the scale patterns and different timing, that's what gives the band an identity.
there are plenty on ultimate-guitar(dot)com if not you can just download a guitar pro tab of it and it should have it on there :)
2021
so it's a subgenre, of a subgenre, of a genre?
Please give me a chart of genres and their subgenres please.
Bisa gila aku garap lagu ini,,, \m/
Are you trying to argue that subgenres of subgenres don't exist? Because that's exactly what stuff like djent (subgenre of progressive metal) is. You can subdivide music as far as you want.
Hahahahaha stroking the beard at 1:50 right before playing!
Fuck he's an amazing singer.
What kind of guitar is Tim playing?
what does c'est la vie means? thank you guys.
This is progressive METAL. not a hardcore punk subgenre. Anybody who thinks it is needs to elaborate.
@yobasscis616 On Scurrilous Arif only wrote C'est la Vie, Moonlight, and Sex Tapes. Rody did everything else and I assume this pattern will continue.
Why the fuck should it matter what it is. It's fucking music for christ sake. Good music at that. God damn.
Best comment on youtube
@tcolby29 I wish I could play the guitar like them!!
holaaaaaa
@Mysterylabel :D until i heard the intro for Sequoia Throne i would of never conceived a riff like that in my mind to be possible. :D
@Narutofreak155 Scotty doesn't know
@Red1676 Yeah
@Satanismygod616 I´m going to ink that onto my left arm in 2 weeks. :)
One of the best lyric lines EVER!
Protest the Hero are the myth that parents tell aspiring guitarists before they go to bed, just to fuck with them.
Gotta love the fact they still play 6 strings, with all the Tosin wannabes out there.
@majorblood87 in halifax?
@xttf33x I would agree, but they really are two different types of metal. Comparing this band to Avenged Sevenfold is a bit like comparing Green Day to Muse. I'm not bashing either. They are both very great in their own separate ways.
I believe the secret lies in those epic beards.
"To make a splash she had to flounder like a fish out of water"
What the hell !! PTH are playing in red bull bedroom stage !! they should be higher up playing on bohemia stage at sonisphere at least !!
... oh shit...
@curlyheadbanger oh good so its not just me
So this is why people grow badass beards!
SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!
@ud0ntkn0w
Ooh, also, gunna agree with you about a7x
>Implying Protest The Hero is screamo
@McMadman94 of course this album is underwhelming, fortress was so fucking amazing
only 170,000 views? Am I the only one watching this video?
there was so much jizz on my keyboard after 1:28 that i almost couldn't write this comment.
Does that last riff severely remind anyone else of Banjo Kazooie? Or is it just me?
Get angry Rody!
@KickYourAssTomorrow It's because they are a bunch of immature kids who just want to hear a brootal scream and a girly harmony. They don't respect this guys work...yet. Trust me I was one of them until I sat down bout a year ago and read their lyrics. It was also around this time i started working on my clean vox a lot more, Rody Walker is amazing, the part that always gets me is when he says "I hope she knows how much I respect her." In Tandem...
@PianoWireAbortion i know the lyrics, the tempo of this song and the theme of the vid contradict each other. looks awkward to be aggressive when movement in the video is limited.
@ProgressiveMadness92 Thank you for sharing that with me but you are making me feel jelous xD
