This band in my opinion is one of the greatest and most original artists of the past the decade. This album is awesome and so is Fortress, but the album Kezia is the reason I love them so much. Stepped off a chair so he could learn to let loose
Learn to let loose before the pendulum wore off
In his final sound a gurgle and a cough
In his final words the pendulum wore off
Stepped off a building to find some concrete evidence
Concrete evidence that he'd ever make an impact
    Fiction splattered into
    Fiction splattered into fact
And his fiction splattered into another sidewalk painting on display
Stepped off a bridge so he could make a splash
To make a splash he had to flounder like a fish out of water
Another lamb that chose the slaughter
Stepped off a chair so he could learn to let loose
Learn to let loose before the pendulum wore off
    And his final sound
Stepped off the platform and he briefly made,
Yeah, he briefly made the news
It made the news and he made the trains run fifteen minutes late
Oh, what a price to pay, the trains were fifteen minutes late
Oh, what a price to pay, to be the author of your fate
The trains were fifteen minutes late (to be the author of your fate)
The trains were fifteen minutes late (to be the author of your fate)
    C'est la vie!
A drooling old bitch and a house full of lies
    C'est la vie!
The little things that kill you make you glad to be alive
    C'est la vie!
Disease in your genes and ocean levels on the rise
    C'est la vie!
Sing a song of living, before everybody dies!

Oh man, I'm gonna have to disagree. The only song on Volition I thought was forgettable was Mist. Also, Skies is now my favorite PTH song. That said, I can see why you'd think the album was mostly forgettable. You can really notice Moe's absence on the ones he didn't do (in my opinion at least) and without Moe's drumming PTH just doesn't sound the same. I personally liked it, but I can totally see why you might not like it as much as me.

The lyrics are just pure poetry. I am analyzing these lyrics for English Literature at the moment for an Oral Essay. We get to choose a song or a poem we like lyrically and explain and analyze the lyrics and the conventions used to write it. This song is just fueled with puns, dramatic irony, sarcasm, contrast, and vivid imagery. Protest The Hero write some of the best lyrics I have ever heard along with Pain Of Salvation and The Dillinger Escape Plan. So good.

Yeah, he briefly made the news
It made the news and he made the trains run fifteen minutes late''
Pretty clear. This song is basically about how meaningless suicide actually is. Rody also mentioned that this song is also about celebrating the little things in your life that are worth living for. So it's not that macabre.

This is old as dirt in internet time but I think it's more so about how people don't find the suicide tragic but instead find the inconveniences tragic. Rather than people being sad someone choose to throw themselves in front of a train, they're upset they had to wait 15 minutes.

@@PsionicMonk Yeah, that's my take as well. "Oh what a price to pay" meaning capitalist society places more value on those 15 minutes than someone's life ending. It's as macabre as it gets and rightly so.

PTH, you are a disgusting band! How dare you destroy most of the metal, including old big name bands musically like that? How is it that, as an example, Dream Theater is such a classic and experienced band, but you, kids, come out and create music that is on every level more interesting? For me, you are the most interesting band ever. I love you so much!
