I'm an old guy, my first roll of film I shot was in 1977. I never wanted to do photography as a profession. Bought my first digital camera about 10 years ago, now I own two. However the look if a digital image doesn't impress me at all. I have a very strong love for film, and will continue to shoot film as long as they make it. I'm not going to get into what size or make of the cameras I have. But the best advice I heard was from Martin Parr. "99% of the images you take will be crap", "but if you are lucky, and get 3-5 great shots a year, you're doing really good". I don't post my film work, I keep it private. Because the images I take are for me. I don't like FB Groups, they are just a gathering place for crap shots and bad advice. And when a person can purchase a used camera and lens and before the day is out, post the price of their services and call themselves photographers, its a very saturated space. Alec Soth said " there is no bad images, only troubled ones."
Hello, Robert and thanks for commenting. I admit I was a late convert to digital. I shot Kodak T-Max film on my Nikon F5 for a few years after the digital cameras arrived. Everyone has their own experiences with film vs. digital and that's the way it should be in my mind. Photography is a personal endeavor, even if you shoot film, digital, or even what camera and lens. Recently, I went to processing in platinum/palladium (future video in the making). I see that as close to going to back to film as I ever will. I think I'm now too lazy to wait for my results and mess with all the developing of film, ect, but I'm happy there are some still out there shooting film. I understand it's gotten very expensive to buy and process film these days, but then again so is a digital lens and camera. smiles.. Thanks for checking in and your thoughts, much appreciated.
Quite often critique says more about the critiquer than about the photograph....
Good point. Thanks again for your continued support and contributions to the channel.
I enjoy your view.
Thanks for your continues support.
I like when you smile...that is my critique
Thanks. I'll try to do it more often.
