I saw this when it opened in 1960. I was only 11, but this dialog heavy film captivated me and haunted me with it's images of gothic madness and decay. To this day, it is still one of my favorite of all horror films.
"Superb acting" - Magnificent - Only the most complimentary adjectives can describe the acting ability of Vincent Price ... This film, and The Pit and The Pendulum are two of my favorites
Vincent Price will be one of the greatest actors. Right up there with Charlton Heston, John Wayne, Leonard Nimoy, George C. Scott, and William Hartnell.
I saw this in class last year in school, and I thought was cool, creepy, but cool. I do wish some one would put the whole movie on here. Good job in scene selection.
Was there a like a deadman somewhat decomposed with a mostly skull head shown breathing in a coffin or sarchophagus toward the end. There was also a man who had wagered a bet he could get out and did but a gate with a sharp spike stabbed him in the back??

There will never be another Vincent Price. Thank heavens he lived when movie film had been invented.

It’s not WHAT he said, but HOW….chills
Perhaps the greatest adaptation of an Edgar Allan Poe story ever
Vincent Price was great in this movie. Too bad the whole movie isn't posted.

I first saw this at Gunning Bedford School in the fall of 1970.

Imagine a Bioshock movie where Vincent price plays Andrew Ryan

He could have been inspiration for the design.
@Dravenswraith in this role critics unanimously praised Price's performance of controlled madness that was Roderick Usher.
Painting by Burt Shonberg.

You're thinking of the Italian film, CASTLE OF BLOOD. A later film (and black and white)
absolutely terrifying
