Best guess: Arturia wanted to do an MS20, and Korg said "No" due to it's own competing hardware and software versions of the MS20. Arturia said "How much would it cost for you to say yes", and the licensing deal was thrashed out, where Korg get a bunch of money, and Arturia get the official logo and brand endorsement.
Though I don't think we'll ever see things like the M1 or Triton in the V-Collection. The V-Collection is pretty much all about _analog_ emulation. The M1, Wavestation, Triton and so on are basically digital romplers, and KORG have access to the original source code and designs for the DSP chips. Perhaps we'll see a Polysix and a MonoPoly in the V Collection. Possilby an Odyssey, but then there are already two of those on the market. But seeing collaboration between Korg and Arturia looks promising.
You say that, but they also released the Emulator II, Fairlight , Synclavier, and DX7 which are all digital. The Fairlight and Emulator are very much rompler adjacent given how many of those factory disk presets ended up on records.
The modular V and Mini V both used to be branded with the Moog name with Dr Bob’s blessing ( licensed ? ) a few versions ago , but they stopped at v collection 4 I think . Who knows why .
All the other videos I've watched about the MS-20 V shows them making horrible noises and saying "cool"", but yyou have shown that it can make musuc. Thank you.
Super demo Craig, thank you! Hope you can show more in a next video, I didn't know version 9 was coming out. Your comment about integrating M1, Triton etc. not sure how far they will go in their collaboration, but the korg collection 3 I'm used to play with is pretty good though, but yeah arturia provides top notch UI/UX for sure...
Really liked the beats and melody you were using during the demo and pulled up my demo copy of the MS-20 V and started jamming along with you in the video as you talked and played.. lol What fun... thanks for the inspiration.. Interesting observation about the Korg name. I noticed it but did not take it to it's logical conclusion like you did. No need for Korg to worry about competition. I have the Cherry Audio version, the Korg Collection version and I will get the Arturia one for sure. All different flavors of the same thing that each bring unique approaches and slightly different takes on the sound. Good fun.
While you could think of KORG's MS20 vst as in 'direct competition' with Arturia's MS20 vst. In reality, their respective main products are the Korg Collection and the Arturia V Collection. Between these two, the MS20 is the only overlap. I have V Collection 8, so will probably wait until at least V Collection 10 before upgrading. But I'm curious. It does seem that you get e.g. the sequencer.
Perhaps Korg lets Arturia develop the official Korg softsynths, or some of them. in other words: Maybe the official software MS20 is the same Arturia synth that is now sold in the Arturia collection. Maybe the Korg 700 too. Maybe not. I don't have insider info.
No Korg’s MMT tech evolved from the Z1 Moss system of 97 and their OASYS PCI dsp from 99 . The Multi modeling Technology ( MMT ) is what powered the R3 , Radias , Micro Korg XL as well as the original Korg Legacy collection VSTi stuff . The iOS version was in partnership with detune Ltd .
The best Korg MS-20 demo around. You stick to dance music making the demo more consistent. I played a bit with the Korg MS-20 trying to understand the patch panel. You seem to be using only one cable. Great! Cubase 12 for once.
Thanks mate. I use Loopcloud for all my single hits. The clap/snare on this was particular beat was three different samples layered on top of one another
Super excited about this synth, especially after watching your demo

Man I thought you were going to play Hardstyle, and you ended up playin 🏳️🌈house music? 😂👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 no❗️
How do you make it keep playing without pressing a key?
I checked the upgrade price just a couple of days ago...it's 300 dollars now. Sad face.
i wished they added the ARP chroma as new V collection synth 🥲
😷😷😷🙂

I never did pick up the Korg plugins. Maybe now I wont have to!
@@Tutorial_ism Agreed, Arturia covers everything enough...

That’s great to hear that you were jamming along mate. Vibes!!!!

It is pretty intriguing 🤔

Sorry its off topic, but did you create the drum loop? Could do with a tutorial for them, what a great shuffle groove

Thanks Rouge. Yes, I haven’t really gotten to play around with the patch bay yet. Maybe I’ll make a video on it once I’ve learnt it!
Cool tutorial, I watched a few of yours before. Same thoughts here regarding the Korg branding ...
Thanks mate. Yeah, the future is (hopefully) interesting
What kind of claps do you use in your track? The claps sounds great!

Any idea if the CS80 is still a CPU Intensive with the new sound engine?
As far as I remember, cpu efficiency is handled better in the new engine. I haven’t tested it though
I'm super exciting in a hurry to tell you that indoors you need to REMOVE THE CAP
This sounds great. I’m just not sure I need it if I already have Omnisphere?
Needing a new synth and wanting a new synth are two matters that rarely coincide 😅
@@Tutorial_ism True that! 😝
