    NOW YOU NEED TO GET THE FLAVACOL SALT, LIKE THEY USE IN THE MOVIE THEATER.

    • @HungryH1951
      @HungryH1951 3 роки тому +3

      That is very important. And coconut oil with beta carotene to give your popcorn some yellow color, like they have at the movies. Then some clarified butter on top and you're in business.

    Awww, this brought back so many memories. Ran our town's 1938 theatre from 2000 to 2008 and the smell of the popcorn would bring people in. Tickets were $3.50 and at times the house was packed in the 238 seats! Thanks for the memories. The ol' 'G' Theatre has been empty since. Sniff, sniff...

    Thanks Rick. Brought back some great memories there. A company i worked for the popcorn machine was a huge deal to them (for the customers). All locations had them. Every morning we made it fresh and as it was needed through the day. Never thought it was possible but after 14 years. You can get sick of popcorn. I think we tried and made every flavor combo available when we got bored (including Hot Chocolate). Enjoy it. What i have seen you do over the years your popcorn flavors will be endless. Enjoy!!!

    Hi Rick, I turned the popcorn machine off and waited a minute then poured in 1/2 cup, turned it on and off four more times, and the popcorn wasn't chewy. it just gets way too hot, and then pops them too fast making it chewy. The popped kernels weren't as big either. This batch was perfect. Didn't smoke as much either. not as easy as just letting it pop, but the popcorn is much better popping slower.

    We have a less expensive version that came with plastic measures. The heat lamp was busted up in ours so we have to wait for a heat lamp. We’re excited to have this machine and also we have the hotdog roller. We got a six can refrigerator so now we’re all set for our basement family room.

    Hi Rick, I did buy the Olde Midway, and I made my first batch. I normally use a whirly popper. After using the Midway, I noticed the popcorn pops bigger, but it's also more chewy. It pops really fast, and maybe too fast. I'm going to slow it down a bit and see if that does anything. It's a lot more fun than using the whirly popper tho!

    • @RickMammana
      @RickMammana  3 роки тому

      I believe the chewiness comes from the steam trapped in the popcorn machine as it’s popping therefore making the popcorn tougher/ chewier.

    • @katdadi1
      @katdadi1 Рік тому

      Actually, it gets much less steam than the regular popcorn popper on stove because it doesn't have time to get steamy and moist by popping out the pot which make is less crispy. That's why the popcorn at Targets and Rual King is so good. JMO.

      @RickMammana Background story time,
      I purchased a different popcorn popper for her Birthday that was a few weeks back. I had to return it because it was defective. It took a long time to get a refund after I returned it, which finally happened & I decided on the midway with real glass & stainless steel.
      She got a nasty flu/cold & was home from school yesterday & feverish most of the night. She started to feel better about midday. She didn't see that the new popper had arrived 2 days ago.
      A few hours ago, I, with the help of your video, brought it out & we set it up. We made a bunch of popcorn & watched Christmas Chronicles together. She didn't eat a whole lot, but she sure enjoyed a bring me up evening just for her!
      Happy Holidays 😊

    That's a beauty, I think you and Kathy are going to have to buy a bigger house with a huge kitchen so you can have room for all your machines, LOL. My husband bought me one like that when I first moved out to California, we never used it because I hate to have to clean out big machines like that ... then when we moved to a smaller place we gave it away to our old neighbor for helping us move. I love Popcorn ... should have kept that darned machine. Thanks for sharing your fun with us Rick ... it's like a walk down memory lane.
