He sound like zoro

Being a western anime fan, it's cool to see how differently anime is perceived and spread in Japan. Anime/educational shows like Cells at Work being in textbooks and used as study material is extremely rare in, for instance, the US. And though there were only a few participants in this quiz, it seems Renai Circulation is not as recognizable in Japan as it is internationally, along with Elfen Lied.
The fact that Renai Circulation has been streamed more than 56 million times on Spotify as I'm writing this comment clearly shows that this OP is much more famous outside of Japan (legal music streaming services are much less popular in Japan compared to the rest of the world, in fact, Spotify wasn't available in Japan until 2016!).
"Erotic and grotesque... Sailor Moon?"
LOL, died.
I knew Lillium. Love the Latin.
Ohhh lied
The part with the bell is my notification tone and I was like "one moment it's in this video"

The guy in blue was happy to get some recommendations lmao.
This was fun!! I love how you didn't put up titles of the song like other videos do. It lets us the viewers guess and play along too! Do more videos like these! hehe
Wow it made me feel a little old when LS and the last one came up and everyone was so lost 😭 also very interesting how something so popular overseas can be so obscure in Japan 😳
It's about the time, most anime in Japan is telecasted late
I heard that 33% of Japanese watch anime and 41% don't watch anime...idk if 33% is a small number (I suck at math) but maybe that's why also, Japanese elders/adults don't really watch a lot of anime as teenagers/kids do shows like pretty cure, detective Conan both are very popular in Japan but not in the west (sadly, cause they are both very good series that definitely need more attention). Even other shows like Sazae-san, Chibi Maruko-chan, and Doraemon are popular over there among the older people.
@@AnimeBlaze-qi4jx most of them actually read manga and animes are rated when it's going to be aired on tv and a lot of them where aired late at night and not treated like the way other countries treat anime like cartoons and thinks it for kids when it's not
Old man in blue is the best ❤️ he was so funny
Please make a part 2 this is so entertaining man, i always see foreigners do this but barely Japanese people
Thanks for the video! I missed a lot of them too. Yuta should sing more, you have a good voice.
Elfen Lied is one of the most dramatic anime I've ever watched. I didn't see it as erotic but its surely grotesque. I didn't expect that it would be on the list and it is surely difficult since its not your typical shounen/shoujo anime.
7:11 Why does this guy looks like that emo character who went out to be alone but a group of interviewers captured him lol.
The older gentleman was a really good sport about the whole thing, despite not getting a single one. LOL I'm surprised he didn't get One Piece, considering that it was the original OP song, which is over 20 years old and very iconic. And he even listed that among his favorites.
We definitely need more of this!!
That blue jacket man saying "nani" is priceless
Very cool but let them hear a little more of the theme if they are having trouble answering; also play a little clip of the intro afterwards for us the viewers to see what it was
Hey Yuta!! Looking forward to episode 2 of this series :)

And yet he didn't even recognize “We Are!” xD
blue jacket dude: I watched One Piece.
*interviewer proceeded to play One Piece opening 1*
blue jacket dude: Cat's Eye!
yeah because those sounds a like
Elfen Lied has been such a traumatizing memory I knew instantly it was Lilium when I heard the bells
Same, just from the bell I could almost imagine the song, then I remember the anime name.
Damn... Yuta singing blessed my ears
The girl who loves JJK and Haikyuu need to be my bff. The old guy ... simply I love him!
Surprisingly, I knew about half of them. But I am a western fan and sounds like a lot of these were tailored to what's popular here. The reactions were hilarious and surprisingly. Great video!
Damn was I surprised so few knew the Bakemonogatari one, especially as it's evolved into a meme song over time
It is not necessarily a meme in Japan.
@@matheusbarbosa4438 Still... it's a meme on YT, and Japan might've at least caught wind of it
@@dinkopausic6357 nope! different meme culture and tastes over there.
@@nathanmerritt1581i guess a bit of it has flown around but not too much. A bit surprised so little know about Monogatari when Monogatari is actually really popular in Japan. Like if you are Japanese in order to be an otaku, you need to watch it.
When yuta started singing out of nowhere I actually got surprised, he sings so well lol
Even for an anime fan, the first clip for all of them were pretty hard
But the second clip obviously makes it a lot easier
I only guessed one piece and Evangelion right those were like the only ones I knew XD
some anime songs are so awesome that I even listen to them by itself, Yuyu hakusho’s, Fmab’s, OP’s, Slam Dunk’s and Flame of recca’s songs.
Man, brought out GeGeGe no Kitaro, haven't heard that in a while
My favorite band just did an ending for GeGeGe no Kitaro :) that's the only reason I know about it. It's an old anime
Man of Culture
Yeah the song still stuck in my head. Gegenoge gegegenoge
I got Elfen Lied instantly, and I haven't even watched it. Lol.
When I heard just the bells, I also thought of "Sailor Moon" because there is a similar sample just before the beginning of 「ムンライト伝説」
Funnily enough elfen lied was the only one i could name right away with just the first portion playing. I watched it about 15 years ago but the song is so unique it immediately came to mind when i heard the gong.
I'm going to have head cha la stuck in my head for days now. It's one of my favorite intro songs. As soon as he said it, I started humming it.
5:47 i m literally crying 😢
Damn they didn't know elfen lied 😐
Do more of these !
Like the quiz, please do more of them!!
You can add/specifiy the theme for the next quizes, for example 1990s anime, 2000s anime etc
Also please make one for the Japanese City Pop songs, the first interview about it you do only Plastic Love so you can add more and see if they recognize them all
That one dude that recognized Bakemonogatari and Lucky Star is the MVP with blue jacket guy coming in at a close second for being a champ
When I heard the bells for Elfen Lied I just got goosebumps from it. The ending from anime and manga are supeeeer fricking different and it scarred my heart for life for reading the manga 🙃
I recommend you guys to watch lucky stars, I always watched lucky stars before Christmas and new years because it makes my mind more peaceful and to not lose hope.
Awesome you chose Elfen Lied!!! Out of all 10, that is the only one I got 2 right. Great video Yuta, please do part 2!

Not every One Piece fan watches the abomination called One Piece anime.
@@nurhusni Its not abomination, rough edges yes. Abomination heck no.. all the epic, sad and emotional moments translate very well in the anime and for those reason and a few others it's good.
He said Hatsune Miku 😭 RESPECT FOR HIM ✨✋🏻
I also love the Bakemono series and ReZero is a good new twist on anime I think
I would really like you to do the anime songs' review videos as I feel there is a lot of nuance to the expressions, idioms and way of expression in the lyrics of many songs. I am a beginner in Japanese and can understand Japanese to around 40%-60% depending on the context while watching the anime ( of course I might be more dependent on the subtitles if the topic under discussion is something I'm not familiar with). I naturally like to learn new languages and I'm able to identify the differences in expressions, nuances based on politeness or dialect, etc. But I may not necessarily understand the actual meaning every time even though I'm able to identify and ballpark the meaning to a certain extent.
I got so frustrated when he said he watches one piece but then got the song wrong 😂
He’s as frustrated too 😭
I love how all the hints are "this one is based on light novels"
Well your this video is super amazing cuz and i subscribed bcuz of this anime content more subs for you 👌🏻⚡
I like how I happened to only know the most difficult and obscurest opening of them all. That and Lucky Star, even though I've never seen it. Elfen Lied is one of the few anime openings that is most memorable even if you can't remember its source of origin. Can't be said for most anime, though.
16:14 Bungo Stray Dogs is so underrated outside Asia I love that anime so much
I never knew it was this popular in Asia I'm so happy 😍
