Back in the '80s & down, there was a mix of cabovers & conventional cabs here in the states🇺🇸. Today the only cabovers I see around are fire trucks, garbage trucks, yard trucks, & some box trucks.
Man I love those cabovers, especially that model. I had one with a KT-450 Cummins HD. Industrial engine with a Fuller 15sp overdrive. After seeing how that engine ran, it's no wonder they weren't allowed to put them in at the factory. Those KT's were so dam strong and fast that Cummins would purposely retard the timing at the factory in order to derate their power. They were designed as a heavy duty stationary engine and run at it's top rated rpm's for weeks at a time between servicings. They'd climb hills in high gear while loaded and such a beast that tires were known to blow out because of excessive heat from so much torque being put to them while climbing a hill. Most guys now have never even driven one that would run like that much less have all that power. Or remember the days when all it took to remedy a slow truck was just a trick or two. Like either restricting the pump return line, or put a dime with a hole drilled in it into the flare fitting and disable the turbo wastegate valve. The truck would run like a scalded ass dog!!
I remember back in the day my dad had a Kenworth W900 A with a 100 inch double eagle sleeper. It had a KTA 600 Cummins with a 5x4. That truck would pass everything on the road except a fuel station!
Shane, restricting the return fuel line was not a good thing to do. the better way was to change the fuel plunger (button) and add an extra shim or two. was very easy to do and helped get more power. the fuel return line could cause a lot of problems if it was too restrictive.
Brings back a lot of memories for sure. Used to have to lay down to change clothes in a cab over. They rode terrible and couldn't wait to get out and get into a nice conventional. Back in the 80's that was mostly what everyone was running.
Greetings from the Ohio Porters. 🇺🇸 I’ve always liked KW cabovers! 🥰 This looks like a nice truck, but one of a kind? Someone got a good one and hope that they’re enjoying it. We need more of them. 🤩
I've always felt lucky being old enough to have been around and to see and remember trucking past, in the 70's Pre, cellphone,GPS, Google, etc. extra low, side steps on condo cabs, for fat boys suffering from "triple D". (Dickey Doo Disease) You know, when their gut sticks out more than their dickey do, and can only wear sweat pants. Trained in K-100 & finished in a Mack CruiseLiner 13sp. W/OD. Anyway, I'm not so lucky being able to see it's future. Owned an old Wal Mart K100 (350C 9sp & .411 rears) slow!!! and a 84-85 K100 w/a kt450 HD Cummins 15sp. OD. Fuller. Scary fast!!!
No wonder they are asking 34 k it is a famous truck ~*~*~*~* HOLLYWOOD ICON " OLD BETTY " ~*~*~*~* Carrying film equipment from set to set in Sunny California... That's where this Beautiful-Vintage K100 has spent the majority of her long life at..! This very picture, including a few more here, were actually taken "ON SET"..!
No, I wouldn't want you to lift the 'hood'. You could lift the cab though. You must be a major car guy. That's OK. Thanks for the video, very pretty K100E. To bad about that bobo on the drivers side just behind the right grab rail. Idles nice. Like the paint scheme. At least you have a reasonable wheelbase & not one of those 3-5 foot extended abominations. Don't understand that on a COE.
@@jamesrelford4560 I could totally understand a little stretching for improved ride comfort, I think they meant some of the "Truck Show-Class" Peterbilt 352/362's & Kenworth K-100/K-100E/K-108/K-200's. They are sometimes stretched obscenely to the point where there's 6 to 8 feet of swing-dip clearance between the truck & trailer. I've actually seen them stretched to the point where they're longer than any conventional they pull up on by a significant amount. So when described like that, it does kinda defeat the original purpose of owning one. Heck, you might as well stretch the frame, eliminate one of the rear axles, & mount a tow boom or flatbed on it at that point, lol.
Next time you get in and out of the kw k100 use the three point on the hand rails and steps you dunce you will not get hurt I seen drivers injure themselves jumping out like that
I loved all the cabovers i drove but i hated when hey went to the short sticks especialy the freightliners and internationals they were too far forward to me just uncomfortable
Hi truck paper I know you don't answer my comment but do you have any destroyed trucks that I could get for 20 dollars please I just want a truck so I don't freeze when I go to school please and thank you and just think for a minute try walking to school in -40 because I got sick last year and I was in the hospital for a month and I didn't like that at all so please think for a minute and let me know if you have any destroyed trucks please and thank you
The cab doesn't raise probably because the hydraulic system isn't in good working order and I know cuz I replaced a hydraulic piston on mine and she lifts like a dream!!
Yeah definitely this dealer out to make profit off course beautiful truck no doubt , but anyone with some mechanical common sense can tell it needs the engine Rebuilt dead give away having the truck on while filming you can hear the engine screaming for an overhaul lol
This truck is worth maybe 5000, or for parts, other way its a junk in compare to the trucks on the road today. TH and if its so nice a so good than why not keep it.?.TH
The most beautiful truck ever made... K100 Cabover
I loved these trucks ever since I was a little boy. At 36 I still love it when I see them on the road.
K100, probably the most beautiful truck ever make...

I owned a 1977 K100, 350 Cummins for 4 years, great tractor.

Makes for a better ride. I like them a little stretched out, so long as it's not overdone. Mine sits at 244", which looks pretty good.

If you ask how much, you can’t afford it...
How would you know how much to write the check for if you don't ask how much
have you ever seen a truck before?
you can't lift up the good because on that cabover there is no good. :) so why doesn't the cab raise?
The cab doesn't raise probably because the hydraulic system isn't in good working order and I know cuz I replaced a hydraulic piston on mine and she lifts like a dream!!
