More than just 'gardening'. For the planting, maybe a couple of dwarf rootstock fruit trees. For example, a double grafted apple, 1 cooking and 1 eating. The other either a plum or pear, whichever the owner prefers. And then a mix of veg and herbs with flowering perennials for the pollinators.
I love how your suggestions are always edible 😂 a woman after my own heart 😁 you've made me think, with the herbs, though. Great idea, even if he's not overly bothered about using them. I find they add a lot to a garden regardless. I dream of being self-sufficient on fruit and veg one day. I bet you grow quite a bit l?
Nope, small flat, small courtyard plus a bit more, plants all mixed in together, but NZ sometimes at the end of a very long supply chain, and weather events in our food growing areas, so I try to have something fresh of my own.
It looks like Frank's soil is on the acidic side, and part shade. My favorite no-fuss perennials are hostas and astilbes. They come in so many sizes and colors; Just pick Frank's favorite color!

His parents divorced when he was 5, mom left Hawaii with he and his younger brother. Grew up without much, self-sufficient because Mom was dating so boys stayed on their own! When she remarried, his stepdad was strict but taught work ethic. My Dad, he says, taught him to laugh. master auto tech for Toyota - he can fix anything. Knee blew out so he’s be a house hubby since 2015. Painted our house, gardens, helps out neighbors. We met at 14 and we both wanted better. We’ve done pretty good like you.

Maybe ferns and heucheras for shady spots and perhaps pots of seasonal plants in the border gaps for quick impact. Hydrangeas too - looks like the soil maybe acidic as camellias are thriving so he may get blue hydrangea flowers - and hebes for the bees.

I have another that my mom and I call a night flower as back home in Chicago it can live in! And it’s wild out here in the desert. It opens up in the evening and closes in the am. @@martinthegardenguy The weather has been awful, cant seem to get a break. I think we have had 2 days in 3 weeks with no rain. Im doing good thanks mate, ive got so many good videos i want to record! but the weather isnt playing ball at the minute.

Lawn mowing, I find the worst. Some years, it's been so hot the grass doesn't grow or too wet, and it's too hard to cut! 😁 still, it beats the heck out of working in an office 👍

Hi, did you miss the start of the video? 😊 it was approximately sand and cement 4:1 ratio. Or there abouts.
With a litte water just to create a crumbly mortar that I could press into the joints 😁👍
