My Mom loved this band when I was a kid, but I didn’t pay any attention because it was “old people’s” music. Now that I’m “old”-I see this band is OUTSTANDING! Fantastic performers, songwriters & musicians. Truly.
I've always loved this song since it's release in 1983! What a great song that always brings back great memories of my late wife and I, and our three kids. Little River Band was excellent!!!
This song will always remind me of my father. I remember when he passed away. This song randomly played on the radio at work, I was living in Australia at the time while he lived in New Zealand. Then I got the ph call which was on my birthday😢. I couldn't believe it. Now i listen to this classic which he played alot when I was younger. I couldn't help but think he played this song the day he died to say his last goodbye 💔 I love you dad 🥺
I was a little kid when I first heard this song. It reminded me of the broken home I grew up in. My parents split up when I was 6 and they divorced 2 months before my 7th birthday. Now I am 37 years old.
Who is here in 2024 ? I am. The Little River band was just about everyone’s favorite bands secretly. When the Little River band was used in the Movie “The Other guys” and when Will Ferrell Said “LRB was the Shit” MOST of us Secretly Agreed.
Love this song a lot, so much meaning to it, L.R. B. was one great band from Australia. Great song to dance to as well as this song will never get old in my mind.
OH MY GOSH... I forgot all about this song until I heard it on the music game SONGPOP! Then I came to UA-cam to find it and hear the whole song. I remember this song from back in the day! Damn.... This still sounds as good today, as it did back then! Thanks for posting this song & words
This song is sad on multiple levels. First, it has been my experience when a woman changes her mind, that's a done deal. Trying to convince her to change her mind back is likely to be futile because she just did that. And of course the divorce/kids connection is really sad.
The other guy was not around, to talk to us kids. He never understood our mom, the way that Dad did. We had it all with our dad. I wish she would've tried again. My parents divorced when I was 4 years-old. My stepdad was a workaholic & was abusive & neglectful to both my mom & my sister & I.. I was 8 years-old, when this song came out, & was in the thick of it, then. I've always loved this song. But I never realized how close these lyrics came to my life, until now.
Wow just seeing the original album cover photograph is looking through multi colored windows upon the past, hearing this dazzling song is a time machine ride thru lost worlds. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 0:01

I had forgotten about this song! LRB is such a great group.
The vibrato in the harmony vocals at the end of each line of the chorus is so good.
Omg, I loved this song as a kid, and it never left my head. I'd blurt it out from out of nowhere :)
So happy to have found it again!!

doesnt the fun beat of this song successfully cover the message it is trying to convey, somehow?
I respect this band, LRB! ❤
The other guy was not around, to talk to us kids.
He never understood our mom, the way that Dad did.

Back to my childhood!
I've always loved this
I always liked the lyrics to this song. It gives a narrative of love lost and perhaps lost for good.
The sadness is in a few decades all this is dust.
Love still to the day❤❤❤
Sweet memories from the 80s 😎🎼😊
Love this group I'm reminiscing
Little River Band
"The Other Guy"
#11, 1982.
Such a good song
Still listening in 2023 ❤️❤️❤️
The pic at the end seems to have Shorrock as the lead, but this song was the first big hit after Johnny Farnham took over.
Yesssss
Johnny can STILL sing
Their #11 hit on the Billboard 100 from early 1983
Only 22 but love it, reminds me of my childs mothers & I, but once a woman changes her mind its all over
Love it..i was 16 when i first heard this song.
Me too! (1981?)
One of the many ‘party’ songs in the garage!!
What a great song. How can such a sad song be so potent. I can't sing a lick but if I could this is how I would want to sound.
I finally found out the name of this song after searching.
Never been married or had kids, but friends and family have gone through breakups and I think of this song when it happens.
Old memories unlocked🔓😭🍷
Love it
