2024 Cray is timeless.
Thank you Mr. Cray. I've listened to your songs for a long time, and always enjoyed them.
Just saw him play this live tonight (10/1/23) and you honestly couldnt tell a difference in his voice. Even at 70 he is still SPOT ON
What a badass
He is EVERYTHING one would hope for... and MORE! 👍🎸🎶💜

Ele é único ❤
Saw him last night 3/29/24 AWESOME!!!
Saw him last week, so good!
Where?
I was 15 when I first heard this. Saw Robert Cray at the Coogee Bay Hotel, Sydney in the late 1980s and I am here now at 52, still enjoying this brilliant performer.
Cleaning out a house. Found one of your old tapes, it didn't go in the trash for nothing. You got a new sub.
This guy here is one of the most phenomenal guitarist out there. He certainly has his own sound. I'm not sure it's blues in the true sense. It's Robert Cray and he is in his own world. As a guitarist myself I can listen to this guy play and sing for hours. Truly underrated.
Real blues is usually acoustic
but there's definitely Blues elements in this
as well as Jazz.
R 'n' B maybe?
I don't know.
It's music.
Amen James. He is a legend for sure...to me he is as good as it gets.
@@abegarfield7031 I call it electric blues...better yet just wonderful music all the way around!
This man knows how to play the guitar like Jimi Hendrix Eric Clapton and all the rest of them and can put it down that man knows how to play
He reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughan... in so many GREAT ways! Rob has his own sound, yet he is so GREAT!! Just like SRV was!!❤
Grande Robert, musicista doc.
My dad just showed me this song & man. I could never thank him enough
I just heard him for the first time today LIVE. He opened for the Doobie Brothers. I'm HOOKED
I've been listening to Robert Cray for 40 years !
This is a real blues standard.
It will never ever lose it's listening appeal
A real blues master
2023
Me too. My cousin's husband lived across the street and he would blast this song after work and I loved Robert ever since. Truly a legend, saw him back in his heyday around 92 👊🏿
I am 63 years old today and come from Germany. When I was backpacking through Asia in 1986 with my best friend (RIP brother🙏), I bought the Strong Persuader cassette by Robert Cray from a street vendor in Bangkok without ever having heard of him before. Since then, his fantastic music and very good lyrics have accompanied me through good times and bad (now via Spotify or UA-cam). Timeless and incredibly good music. Keep it up Robert!
First meet with Robert Cray...Awesome
A wonderful voice, great guitar work and a great story teller through his music.
Smoking gun, Smooth player and singer
I remember flipping the cassette over to hear it again and again!!!
2024 anybody out there???
Me!!! ❤️him!!!
Yaayeah !!!!
Yessir

@@karlmartin849 what's wrong with that?
She’s just another notch on my guitar, cold 🥶
Well, she WAS right next door so….
Yes right next door and probably ovulating at the time and probably got pregnant too….
Thank you for this excellent sharing.
Incredible blues guitarist ,singer and so handsome!
that helped him be "such a strong persuader"
Saw The Robert Cray Band open for the Doobie Brothers a few days ago. Was fantastic!
Brings tears to my eyes! My parents, but deceased, absolutely loved Robert Cray! And who could blame them, he's amazing!!
This a man I will never forget. I know every word to the songs on the Strong Persuader album.
This video was ahead of it's time
So unbelievable fantastic, makes me freeze. Wish he would come over to Germany. I would love to see and listen to him life. Barbara
I think Robert Cray's solos, come as close to vocals, as anyone I've ever heard.
When he stops singing to play his lead, he's still singing! Literally!!!!
It's spine tingling.
Could listen to him all day.
Saw him live today in Nijmegen, The Netherlands and RC is still sharp a.f.
Seriously, who bothers to watch a video with such talent, to then give it a thumbs down? Robert is a fantastic musician.
One of my favorite concerts ever. Just perfect
In the vibrant atmosphere of the 80s, my mother didn't miss any opportunity to have fun. And then came that fateful night when I was conceived between stacks of paper and empty bottles by Robert Clay. I am the son of a blues legend, and that's truly something special. I can only imagine how deep the music runs through my veins. It's in my DNA to carry on this musical legacy and write my own story. I will do my best to live out my passion for the blues and inspire the world with my music.
19 years old just grabbed this album vinyl for 4 bucks getting into them and wow beautiful blues man !!!! love learning about the past and finding great musicians this way✌🏽
That's how you do it friend 👌
Wow my friend...I am envious now. That album came out in 1986! I can tell you where I was when I first heard it on the radio. It's so great that young people like you are finding this stuff out at an early age. No, I don't want to go back to those days, but I do cherish them. He's still on my bucket list for shows. Look for an album called "Showdown" , by Collins , Copeland & Cray. You will slowly find that key, to open up that door to a wonderful world of blues!! Peace, my friend.✌♥️
Robert Cray has so much more material out there since this song and album were produced. He has more than 20 albums. I love his voice and guitar playing. Simply amazing!
A great pilgrimage to be on bruv.🙏👍😎
@@johnroseman9087 my uncle who just turned 53 saw cray live and said it’s one of the best shows he’s ever seen. I hope you achieve this bucket list item
Saw Robert live several years ago. Great show.
One of the grooviest guitar riffs ever
Saw him live in Melb Australia .. so good n awesome
I love this song. Always have. I happened to be on Beale Street in Memphis, TN back in July. Went into a music store and they played this song at my request. Even sang it with an elderly man who I only know as "Smokey". He knew all the words. Just goes to show that great music lasts forever.
Outlaw. Storm persuader. My new name. Loving it
A song that has beat, melody and a huge soul. This is no ordinary song. This is special.
one of my favourite songs ever. I never get tired of listening to it.
I Love You Sir Robert Cray. Lifelong Resident of Washington State. Seen You in Person in Seattle, Washington on 'My Birthday' with 'Sir John Lee Hooker'. Thank God for You and 'Your' CD 'Sin and Shame'. Helped me get through a very 'Painful' Divorce'. God Bless You and Yours...Favorite songs: Bouncin Back and 'On the Road Down'!...
I have a dear old friend whom I've known since we were 12, who, back in '86, told me about a new artist he'd gotten a tape of named Robert Cray......THIS album. I borrowed his tape & bootlegged it. Later bought it at a "record exchange" place, because it was that good. I've listened to Cray ever since. Thanks so much, RJS, my old friend!!!!
One of the greatest underrated an will be immitated with no soul
Im! Listening! 2024! Robert Cray! The best music!❤👍🏻🤘👌✌️✊️🙏
Hands down one of the all time greats! His ability to make the guitar sing and cry in that signature tone of his is unforgettable! His guitar is truly an extension of his smooth and soulful voice, and what I sense he is feeling deep inside. I wish I could sing and play like that!
1986: bought the LP. 1990: bought the CD. 2024: Watch it on YT. Still GReat!!
Thank you radio 2......a forever favourite
Ohhhh F*ck yesssssss ! Smooth as silk !! Much love everyone, we're all together in this together...never forget that please.

Robert Mack Cray. Singin another mans blues
1986 Grammy winner . Robert is underrated.
Grammys are tone deaf overated,Robert is genius with guitar!!😎😆
So True
Heard this great hit by Robert Cray in 1980s at Tokyo on a musical program, Big Hit USA, being presented by the Japanese George Hiroshi who was a great presenter of US rock music in Japan during the 1980s; since then l never turned by back on music by Cray and have introduced his music to many friends. Its a pity this such a great musician is very little known in world music- he is a great musician and guitarist!
Criminally underrated
i bought his LP before 30 year. and very offen play it
My favorite song. GREETINGS FROM SERBIA!
What a great Song Thanks!
FANTASTIC SWING....MAGNIFICENT GUITAR
That sultry voice excellent guitarist CD in Van always enjoy 😎
I used to like this song as a late teen. Now that I am older than Robert Cray was at the time this song was released, I am amazed how mature he was (and is) as a musician. This is a wonderful tune by the great musician! I feel that I am fortunate that I have known his music.
Wow ! Believe it or not I don’t think I ever this guy play and sing! Amazing! Why wasn’t he given more popularity? Love it
i had the privilege to drive robert cray from the tropicana to the alpine valley venu wisconsin ….was the night of the loss of stevie ray van … a time in which ill never forget…
Saw him in Pensacola last night. Guy puts on a brilliant performance
Awesome track and first class musician
This song STILL gives me goosebumps... his voice is haunting. Love Robert Cray!

Just saw him yesterday and I swear his voice has not changed. It’s amazing.
@@signsofthetimessignsofposi9030 Where was the gig? Thanks.
Robert Crays' staccato style of lead guitar playing is stunning, he doesn't rely on sustain and what avoice. The man is a legend

I saw him in Hawaii perform. Beatuful performance. Front row. Awesome.
Quite accurate, well said
Totally agree Gary!
Best album ever by RCray
One of the best combinations of voice and guitar tone ever in the music history. Cray is a living legend. All respect for his dedication to the Blues.
Robert cray is a awesome performer and very relevant
What a complicated world we live in…
He can make a guitar talk . I saw him in Richmond VA. About 1991. BB King is #1 ,he is my #2 favorite
Love this song. Steve Wright RIP xx
Groovee😊!
Man this song goddamn *holds up* - class.
Great mid 80s blues music, I even went to one of his concerts in 1988 in Auckland, so unbeatable.
True has he been to Nz?
I got to see Robert Cray, and the late SRV play the Texas blues fest. It was a glorious day of blues that made everyone CRAYzeee! SRV and Robert were very close and did alot of touring together. In fact we're very fortunate that we didn't lose Robert that same day. They usually traveled together.
RIP SRV..
I am going to see him tomorrow night.
Einfach mega suuuuuuper
So smooth to listen to when kicking back with a cold one
Reminds me of early childhood & my Dad. I sure miss them times 💚
Me too
Ver y good
Great guitarist, Great vocalist Great bluesman.❤❤❤
There is nothing like the brilliance of great musicians and bands , it would love to see us go back to that .
Wow! Fucking magic. Saw Robert a couple of different times in Sydney in the 90'S. Always great live.
Why would 1k people firstly find this song and then dislike it, Fuckin mental. Its Robert Cray the music flows freely people like a river
Unbelievable fantastic.... Makes me freeze..... I love it...
Love this man's voice. He is from right next to where i live. I hope he keeps singing
She’s just another notch on his guitar
sure was underated
King of the hardtail Strat. Saw him on Saturday night in Edinburgh. Great night of music.
If Robert Cray isn't on your list of Great Blues Players, then your list needs work as it's incomplete, enough said.
Damn, couldn't of said it better!
I dont have a Great Blues Players. Checkmate!
Yes..

@@maxinehuirama7673 - That blues lick that goes with "say goodbye" is so perfect. That's song-writing, as well, I guess. 2:18
I've seen Robert Cray twice in Portland, OR and he is such a gem in person; so natural playing and singing as if it's just a part of who he is and was always meant to be.
The bass on this song is also awesome! It very much completes Roberts playing style
Richard and Robert were in a band with my guitar teacher, Jho Blenis, back in the 1970’s in Tacoma WA.
The bands name was Foghorn Leghorn…no kidding!
Thank you very much Robert Craig you have been an inspiration in my life since I heard your music and the way you sing it and how you felt it is I wish there was more to tell the truth . Marilyn Monroe always and forever
That voice, the smoothness, that Robert Cray is incredible!!
Excellent performance...
Great song
Very cool take on adultery -- the perspective of the third party. Very unique concept for a blues lyric. One of the best guitar solos I've heard too.
i think it is an ode to hwo to be self indulgent to your friends and tell them that you are the mr cool cat...the women s bulldozer
You could tell that this man is very intelligent. Not only by his annunciation or lyrics but his attack on the guitar is unlike anyone else. He is unique in the blues in a blues world where everyone wants to sound like SRV, or most sang very similar. This man is in a class all by himself. He is one of my favorites, I love Albert Collins for the same reasons. I don’t think anyone is better than Albert Collins.
Well he is the blues 70s & 80s master with another master
Stevie ray Vaughan
Both
Smashing hits
But still party to the. In 2023
Children have as much fun in childhood as adults do in adultery
Paper thin walls...guitar speaks...
A great voice and great Axe technique to match. Deserves a much wider global audience
A rarity ............... great voice and brilliant guitar ............. loved since Birmingham Odeon UK 1985
GREAT-song!! 💪💪💪💪👌

Yet another great song by the gifted Robert Gray and his tight band!! Easy on the ear and a delight to listen to, thumps up from me.

Loved this since I was mumma and daddies little baby girl.
Daddy played his guitar mum dancing round the kitchen.
