Where do you live at in Mississippi? I just bought a 2006 Kawasaki stx 900. My story is just like yours! I have no knowledge of jet skis and this is my first one. It runs but runs slow. Any ideas? I wish I could meet you so you could give me some pointers..
I live in the northwest corner of MS. I'm only about 30 minutes from Memphis, TN. Going slow could be one of a number of things like the jet pump, carbs, compression or fuel lines. If you don't know the history of the jet ski and how it was maintained, then you kinda have to go a step at a time until you find it. Do what I did and search message boards. I find a lot of answers there.
Are you sure it's not the good old seadoo pump rattle! 😂 You can rent that tool why buy it your only gonna use 2 times max. Good information anyway thanks.
@jaye68313 100% sure it wasn't the pump rattle. I think you can hear the pump rattle in the video. I have put off buying one for a long time, but I have 6 skis so I'm gonna need it .
I am in Mississippi got a 97 check carbs 10 times runs perfect on hose gets in the water with a load 3500 rpm max. Apply choke it kills it immediately any idea or suggests just check raves again
Did you get if figured out? I hate those kinds of situations because it could be one of several things. The first things that come to mind is fuel pressure or the rotary valve cover plate. If the cover plate is worn down then you lose power on the water.
The only oil I've used in my Seadoos is the XPS E-Tech. That is the recommended oil. For my Yamaha I use their Yamalube and I use Kawasaki oil for my Kawasaki. They may all be the same basically, but I like using the recommended oil for each brand.
Hey boss , I have a question , I recently bought a 2003 GP1300r about a month ago. The ski runs , took it on the water for a full day and it worked perfect except the fuel hose kept coming off which led to getting fuel in the hull , second time around I took it on the lake and same thing happened and when I tried starting it back up I guess the gas and a spark w the battery created like an explosion but nothing huge , nothing broke just burnt some hairs of my leg 😅 but right after that I let it sit for a while and it started right back up with no problems! What do you think I should do apart from fixing the hose so is longer and doesn’t come off ? Also it has around 190 hours ! And is it normal for it to let out a lot of smoke ?
Man, you are living life on the edge! That ski could have exploded into flames and hurt you seriously. It may have not damaged the ski, just consumed the fumes from the fuel. It is normal to smoke at first, but it should clear up as you ride. If it doesn't then your fuel/oil mixture is off.
I think we all want that tool but don’t want to pay for it cause we will use it under 5x 😭😭
I put it off long enough, but I have 6 skis so I'll need it more.

Rebuilt carbs again changed the plunger on rave valves and spark plugs one of them 3 fixed it. Ski ran better then it has ever all day yesterday
What 2 stroke oil do you use? I have a 04 seadoo gti le 2 stroke, I’ve been using pensoil 2 cycle marine oil. Have you tested oils ? Thx!

Quick question, was a 1995 spi for 950 dollars a good pickup? She runs good, cranks on the first try. Engine looks solid as well
Yeah, I would say thats a pretty good deal for a good running pwc. Especially if it came with a trailer.
Is the kind of clanking sound normal for a 95 2 stroke?
Yes, that clanking is usually your jet pump.
