What's everyone's verdicts on these new cameras then?? Also let me know below if you've tried the new app yet!
Integration is a big issue and you've got vMix that uses SRT as well as having native Zoom intagration (v27 announced at IBC) so if BMD are going down the SRT route this is a big deal. They announced an uograde to the Streaming Bridge for SRT, but what about the Studio Cameras, the HD8 and the other ATEMs? Which BMD devices will be able to use either SRT 'in' or 'out' and will it be any SRT or just BMD SRT as with their RMTP?
I’ve played with the app a bit today, but it doesn’t seem to recognize the storage on my iPhone properly. The app tells me I have 11GB, but iOS tells me there’s almost 150GB free on the phone, so something’s off. This is on an iPhone 13 Pro. Of course the bigger pain is getting the full-res files OFF the phone. The proxies upload quick enough, but then what? **Dongle hell all over again.** As for the cameras, I think the Micro 4K might come in handy to create a more portable streaming setup compared to what I have been doing with BMPCC 6k cameras. I’m looking forward to playing around with that. Also, I have ordered the Cinema Camera 6K. I have come to prefer working in open gate since I started testing the Lumix S5IIx. That part I like. L-mount without continuous autofocus??????? Not great. I have several of the L-mount primes and I’m not sure how I will end up rigging those with the CC 6K. More puzzles to solve. I would love to know if BM will have the capacity to interface with the Ronin RS3 Pro LiDAR unit as some of the Lumix cameras can do. That would make a lot of sense to keep gimbal rigs much more streamlined. After all, I love having internal BRAW instead of feeding HDMI out to a Video Assist. But having to go back to geared focus systems is become it less and less appealing-especially when I see what Sony is doing with the Burano. I know that will trickle down the product line over the next 9-12 months. For run and gun I’m starting to like having auto focus as an option. I’m not in a big hurry to start rigging up follow focus systems when in more and more situations I can get the job done without. Which leads me to my biggest question: Can BM work fast enough to catch up to the market? With this release, I’m not feeling reassured.
Definitely considering to buy a Blackmagic Camera as the workflow will be seamless.

The only thing I want to know is what amount of rolling shutter the cameras have. So?
I wonder if the iPhone app will evolve to being integrated into the ATEM system. That would be a game changer
Have you tried the HDMI iPhone adapter? In the Camera App there is a HDMI clean feed in the monitor setting. That may give you a clean HDMI feed out of the iPhone. I have not tried it.
They need to ditch the pocket camera form factor and make a damn cube

On the BlackMagic Camera App, to use the volume button for starting and stopping horizontal shooting, the app only allows you only to shoot with phone with the button on the bottom of the phone. The only rotates one way. With the volume button on the top all the information is upside down. Makes it easier to put you finger in the way. (May be because BM is from Australia?)
Been after a new micro cinema camera for my theatre work for a few years now and I can't wait to order it in the new year this is the perfect for the stuff I shoot. Just want to know more about how to control things like white balance and iso how tricky that will be

A quick question about syncing multi cams. Can you sync the camera app with other camera apps via timecode, and what are the steps to do it? Thanks.
Hey Ted, so as far as I know right now the Blackmagic Camera App uses time of day timecode which it gets from the phones clock. So I would say the multi-cam probably wont be frame accurate between phones...but certainly will get you within a second or so in the edit, and then you can adjust in your editor as needed.
I'll do some more testing on this once I'm back from IBC :)
What is the APIs REST via USB-C? What does It control exactly? Is it for storage or to control the camera in ATEM switchers?

It would be nice if the iPhone App could be included in a live setup. Also regarding the new usb-c connection with iPhone 15.
Blackmagic confirmed to me that you can use the app to get Clean HDMI output from the phone, so you can use that with ATEM Mini for example :)

Great Channel Alex, you helped me alot with getting used to my Atem Mini Extreme... Thanks. Quick question he says in the video the 4k Studio can save onto external HD in RAW, is that the only format it can save in or can it save in other formats as well?
Hi Daniel, so glad to hear you've found the channel useful. I believe that is correct, the 4K studio cameras (both the Plus and Pro versions) record Blackmagic RAW onto external drive only... There is no option for ProRes like the pocket cinema cameras. Hope this helps :)
OK now Im confused. I THOUGHT we were saying the HDMI on the Micro Studio 4K was Not going to have a clean output. You asked in this Video what the resolution was. If its not a clean feed who cares. 1080p with a menu or 4K with a menu Either way I cant use it in a broadcast.

I am trying to find out if power zoom via DJI Ronin SC with game controller will work on the Micro 4k G2. I currently use a Sony a6300 for this and it works great, but is a bit finicky. Does not work on Panny's. Very difficult to find any information on this.

Alex, question for you, I see that the Micro Studio Camera does not have an audio out for talkback, is there a workaround for that?

Any idea if you can hook up a usb hub to the usb c output? I want to hook up BMD focus wheel and a usb hard drive. Is that possible?
It's possible on Broadcast G2 so I'd assume it works on other models too.
If I remember rightly both the Focus and Zoom demand have two USB's, so you can daisy chain the hard drive off the focus wheel :)
@@AlexPettitt it might work too. I'm not sure if you can get the full bandwidth that way.

I guess you mean in terms of bringing an iPhone's camera feed live into an ATEM? If so, Blackmagic did confirm to me that the Blackmagic Camera App CAN output a clean feed via a HDMI adapter and be connected to an ATEM!

Remote zoom & focus, colour correction etc. That would make this an incredibly powerful combination, while being super accessible!

I did, and can confirm the clean HDMI output using a lightning adapter.
No remote control in the Camera tab of Software Control yet, but maybe in the next release of the software? The app isn't in the list of devices and "Generic" doesn't allow remote control.
What lens does micro studio camera 4K G2 have in this video? Seem it can be controlled by zoom demand and focus demand?!
Looks like it's an Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 EZ, which does have electronic zoom.

Democratise film making, and you make an iphone only app? 😂.i am not going to be buying an iPhone just to use an App ,i did that already by spending almost 2000 pounds(to be able to edit on the go with davinciresolve ) for an m2 ipad pro that is only useful for just that one thing .

What set up are you using to film during IBC 2023…?
Brought with me a very minimal setup for this one. It’s a Sony A6500 on a DJI RS 3 Mini gimbal. Using Hollyland Lark Max for audio with headset mics connected to them. Going to do a full breakdown video after IBC :)
