Of all the trucks I've owned my 5th gen Laramie is easily my favorite. The extra creature comforts (heated/cooled seats primarily), really make the difference for me. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved my Tacoma, but the legroom/headroom in both the front and back seats of the Ram is a game changer. The only flaw is the turney wheel -- the number of times I've found myself nearly turning it thinking it's the volume knob is alarming.

Couldn’t agree more on all fronts! The 5th Gen 1500’s are about the nicest driving vehicle I’ve ever been in. They just need a dang column shifter.

I'm a Dodge guy, Ford guy, Chevy guy, Toyota guy, Datsun guy, car guy, truck guy............ Also, every time I get in my Dad's Dodge, I reach for the gearshift - then remember the "turney wheel".

Haha! You’re an equal opportunity junk guy! A very Admirable quality. When Dodge went to the turney wheel in 2013 I said “this will seem normal in a couple years. 10 years later, I’ve owned 3 of them (14, 18, 21) and it’s still not normal 😂

@@TheMoparGarage This is why I hope like hell that if they do come out with a new body on frame Dakota...it comes with the Gladiator shifter and not the dial a gear!!

Honestly, I don't know why more people don't rent a vehicle for a weekend before they drop the money down on it...especially the price of a truck these days. Even the low dollar stuff is in the low 40's...ouch. Yeah the crossbrace by itself without the control arms isn't too wide or heavy. I remember pulling one from a pick-a-part with the control arms and rack still on, and it fit in the back of my beater 84 Plymouth Turismo. The beauty of the two door L-body with the hatch - similar to the G-bodies - drop the rear seats and you can fit a ton in them!! At the time I didn't have a truck...which I didn't pick up until I was in dire need of one and traded a guy my 72 Dodge Coronet for a 91 Dakota with a LA V8 318. From there it's always been the Dakota with V8's - 4 to date - 91,92,93, and 09. Much like yourself...made a pilgrimage to southern PA to pick up a turbo hood for my GLH and some other parts and my 92 started acting up. So went and found a 09 for the longer trips and keep the 92 for around the house grunt work. Also have a host of parts from the 93 that had a rotted frame, so blew that apart and kept all the good parts to spare the 92...as they are identical extended cab 4x4's with 5.2 Magnum w/Autos. So, if I ever offload the 92 Dakota...someone is going to get a crap ton of parts with it!!

For sure, when I was in the car business a lot of people would come in to buy a specific car simply because they rented one on a vacation or something and loved it. My first pickup was a 1997 Dakota sport with a 3.9 and a 5 speed in emerald green. I traded a blown up ‘99 ZR 700 snowmobile and $400 for it. Such good times in that thing, had 239,000 miles of pure abuse when I sold it and it still ran like a top!

Thanks brother! It is fun, since I sold my ‘21 last year I never get to drive the newer stuff. It’s amazing how nice every brand is these days.

This one was just a gas job, it only had a 6 speed. From what I understand only the diesels currently have a 10 speed.
