When I was very very young my mother used to use lanolin cream on a fine-toothed comb to remove dandruff from my then very long hair. I've never forgotten the jar with a wine-coloured lid it came in or the SMELL of the lanolin! Watching you make this product brought back strong memories :)
Thank you for this video. I also get very bad cracking and bleeding during the cold winter months, mostly because I wash my hands all the time-- about 20-30 times a day (I work with yarns so I have to keep my hands very clean). I've learned to keep a good hand cream by the sink and make a habit of putting it on my hands every time I wash them. I find this makes all the difference.
Great recipe- when I raised sheep I used to run my fingers through their wool - my hands loved it. Do you have a recipe for a face cream that doesn’t feel heavy in the skin? I’m looking to replace the commercial brands with my own homemade
Hi Marianne, I know exactly what you're talking about running your hands through sheep wool! Have you tried this face serum: ua-cam.com/video/nZ_j4IJjTGg/v-deo.html ? Happy making 😊 ~ Anja
Thank you for telling us about the Plant Therapy oils. I love them. I live in the northeast so winter is tough on the skin. This looks like a great fix. Love your channel!
This looks great, and I'm sure smells wonderful too. I remember my Grandmother used to put Lanolin in our hair when we were little girls. I will definitely get these ingredients together and make up a batch. Thank you Anja.
Thanks so much for this video. I have a routine....wash hands, put on hand cream, do chores, wash hands, put on hand cream..... repeat several times a day, ha ha!!! I will have to try this diy cream!!! Gods blessings 🙏
Like you, I LOVE the smell of lanolin :) I have a big pot that I use pure for everything but especially for my lips. It’s the best (and only that works!) lip salve EVER! :) We are traveling on Saturday so I don’t have time to get shea butter (I just finished mine making a magnesium lotion), but will try to make it using coconut oil instead (although it’s never as emollient as shea!) 💛🌞🌊 Danke, Anja!
@@OurGabledHome it’s amazing isn’t it? :) So I ended up making your salve and used a bit of Skin Food by Weleda I had leftover instead of the shea. It worked! I also used some olive oil to thin it out a bit. Super nourishing! And solid at room temp. So it was easy to travel with. Danke Anja! 💛🌞🌊
Hello, your videos are amazing. Keep up the great work. Just wanted to ask, how long is the shelf life of this hand cream? Do we need to put it in refrigerator after use?
Hi Anja, Thanks really great, I am so happy to fellow you. Your recipes are super. I live in Munich will try out your recipes 👍 And I enjoy them all. 🙏
So happy to see this video Anja Thank you! It is cold and my hands need some deep penetrating moisture I was also interested to read about the lanolin for hair
¼ c shea butter is about 53 grams and ½ c shea butter is about 110 grams. It doesn't need to be super exact - and depends on how firm or soft you like your hand cream ~ Anja
I don't know if true or not i was always told lanolin also heals . It always made sense to me because of shearing sheep at times they are accidentally nicked and they heal so quickly
Yes, I apply the hand cream at night because it will have the longest time so soak in and do its job but you can really apply it at any time during the day your hands need some TLC 💛 ~ Anja
I will say yes but I find that with a bit of massaging and rubbing (especially if your skin is still slightly moist from washing), it goes away pretty quickly 😊 ~ Anja

Thank you so very much! My hands are often like velcro, feel awful, and look less than attractive. I look forward to making your DIY hand cream. xo
Yes, my hands get dry and cracked all the time, too. This will help as well as my most recent balm: ua-cam.com/video/gBXvqSmzwe0/v-deo.html 😊 ~ Anja
Looks like a great recipe for hand cream. That's exactly what I needed!❤
Yay! I am so glad you find this helpful 💛 ~ Anja

Hi Leslie, it sounds like your hands need a lot of TLC! I hope this hand cream will help - keep me posted 💛 ~ Anja
I just subbed. I can't wait to try.
I use lanolin as a lip moisturizer. I buy the nipple cream at the pharmacy or Walmart (baby section). Works wonderfully!
Yes, it's very moisturizing 😊 ~ Anja
Wow, this looks good. How creative😍

Just wanted to ask, how long is the shelf life of this hand cream? Do we need to put it in refrigerator after use?
This looks lovely! My hands need this too! I'll have to order some lanolin. 🥰

By the way when I was nursing my first baby she didn’t know how to latch properly which left me with bleeding nipples. Lanolin was so soothing!!!

Having psoriatic Arthritis, my hands are very dry. I’d like to make this for my hands and feet!

You can use this very cream 😊 ~ Anja

Thanks so much, how long will this lotion store at room temperature?
It should last at least 3 months (but I have had it last longer than that). Hope this helps 😊 ~ Anja

Hi Nancy, I am not sure if lanolin on its own is healing but it is for sure ultra-hydrating 💛 ~ Anja
When making the tallow whipped cream can I use any other oil than jojoba oil?
Yes, you can 👍 ~ Anja
Can you add water to it to make a cream? Please
You probably can but then you need to either blend it well or add an emulsifier 😊 ~ Anja
Thanks for sharing your recipe. You say that you apply the cream at bedtime. Do you do this because this is a greasy cream?
Yes, I apply the hand cream at night because it will have the longest time so soak in and do its job but you can really apply it at any time during the day your hands need some TLC 💛 ~ Anja
Is there anything I could substitute for the lanolin? There may be wool allergies in our family.
Hi Sher, yes, I mentioned a few substitutes in my corresponding blog post: you could just make it all shea butter and/or use cacao butter 💛 Anja
This looks like it would be fun to make! Thank you for sharing.
Do you happened to have an ETSY shop? I love your aprons as well but I don’t sew😔
Hi Ginger, I am so glad you like this cream! An Etsy shop sounds great but would require more time than I could dedicate right now 😌 ~ Anja
❤
Does this leave your hand greasy?
I will say yes but I find that with a bit of massaging and rubbing (especially if your skin is still slightly moist from washing), it goes away pretty quickly 😊 ~ Anja
I don't see the description on this

I can’t find the recipie!

Can I add baby oil instead of jojoba oil to make it less thick?
Yes or you can just add more oil in general to thin it down a bit ~ Anja
Looks great but is not a cream...it's salve.
