      My theory: GRRM doesn't care about the story anymore. He's stated when he dies his manuscripts are to be destroyed. He MIGHT publish Winds of Winter, but he'll drag I out as long as possible, and he'll ensure that A Dream Of Spring never gets published. Why? Because that seems like the kind of guy he is based on interviews.

    I absolutely love that Rothfuss caught you're attention and is getting recognition on this channel. His stories are amazing. Another great author that you guys should check out is Brandon Sanderson. His books are a huge vault of material that is perfect for theorizing. All of his books are linked together in a collected universe called the "Cosmere' and it's a blast trying to link them together. As a bonus you don't have to wait too long for Sanderson to get new material out. He writes massive books in an incredibly short time!

      @@slevinchannel7589 The amorous scenes, you mean? As far as I recall they're not all that explicit. Rothfuss tells you enough to visualize what's happening, but keeps it rather vague. Which I, as someone who really doesn't care for explicit scenes in books (or other media for that matter) found enjoyable to read. Normally those pull me out of the story and are a slog to get through, but not these ones. Take this with a grain of salt, it's been a couple years since I last read the books.
      However, if you are at all interested in them, don't let the presence of those couple scenes prevent you from reading the books. Book 1 doesn't have any such scenes, if I remember correctly, so you can give it a whirl to see if you like it, and if you do decide to read book 2 and get to an amorous scene and don't like how they're handled, you can just skip those scenes. It'd be a shame to not even give the books a chance just because book 2 has a couple explicit-ish scenes in it.

    I read Name of the Wind recently, it is a well crafted story that is pretty good. Y’all need to check out Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere books as well, rife for fan theories and speculation, plus he releases them on a pretty regular schedule. The Cosmere includes a couple series and a few stand-alone’s and a collection of short stories that all have a larger Meta-Story that’s unfolding in the background if you look closely. I have a feeling y’all will really like them.
    Also, the Wheel of Time is another series y’all ought to check out, it’s be adapted into a TV series on Amazon Prime that’s coming out soon. I’d love to see you guys cover that when it’s coming out

      Some people r whiny little.... ahm.. the book is one of the best I’ve ever read. The only valid complaint a lot of people have is 1. The story structure (as ben said, there isn’t one. But I personally love it, it makes the book feel unique and like you’re actually going through his life. It IS technically an autobiography by Kvothe) and 2. The fact that the protagonist is op (which isn’t really that valid, as we go through the book WITH him, and see him grow as a mage. So i don’t completely understand how it’s a complaint)
      The second book has a few actual problems, but is still an amazing read. The way the author writes is SO unique, and makes u wish that there’s more.
      I’ve only read one of the short books, the slow regard of silent things, and it was AMAZING. It’s slow, and it kinda makes u lost at times, but (once again) the way he writes makes u completely attached to the book, and wondering how it’s gonna go.
      I’m happy that you’re giving it a chance. U won’t regret it 😁

    • @gotelc
      @gotelc 3 роки тому +26

      The biggest complaint or the loudest one I have seen is the way the main character speaks about his love interest. It is very "but im a nice guy" friend zoney, awkward, girl is there to be "won" sort of thing. But in my opinion it completely makes sense for the character as he has no frame of reference for a healthy romantic relationship other than Songs, Plays, Poetry, and his Parents. All but the last are romanticized and not a good basis for real healthy relationships.
      This puts some people off, but I'm intrigued to see how Kvothe develops as a character.

A 'Soft' magic system is where the magic is more mysterious and has no known regulations. Lord of the Rings is a good example of a soft magic system. Harry Potter falls in the middle of the spectrum. I’m not a bigot, but my personal opinion is that you shouldn’t hold something someone does against something they made.
