@@jacksonbarrett5561 It's true that Caudicus spent time with the Kais family: “I wintered with the Jakis family not long ago. The baron is a widower you know. Quite wealthy and somewhat eccentric.” [...] “I’m sure I could remember a few interesting things if I were assured of my anonymity.” I don't think it is definite proof that Jakis hired him, but it is highly likely. Random theory of mine: You know how there are some scenes in the books where the characters start rhyming? I know he mostly does it in his conversation with Felurian, but it also occurs with at least Denna and Deoch that I'm aware of, maybe others.
My theory is that the reason he's rhyming is to make sure that Chronicler is still copying everything word for word. Chronicler is using a phonetic shorthand for his writing, so anything that rhymes would have to use the same strokes and would be easy to identify because it would therefore look the same. So when Kvothe wants to make sure that Chronicler is paying attention and writing everything down verbatim, he doesn't need to read everything Chronicler has written, he only needs to check if the rhyming couplets share the same strokes of the pen.

i like this theory. but there's something that gives me doubt. about halfway through the seventh chapter of notw, kvothe holds up his hand to STOP chronicler from writing, and then speaks. he says "... do not presume to change a word of what i say. if i seem to wander, if i seem to stray, remember that true stories seldom take the straightest way". maybe he just likes rhyming ? my dad will speak in rhyme randomly sometimes.

"Fezzic, you have a gift for rhyme." "Yes, yes, some of the time." 😄 This theory is possible, but a lot of Rothfuss's writing is poetic. Felurian talking in rhyme is a characteristic of Felurian, making her seem more exotic - perhaps this rhyming is a fey custom among lovers, or maybe when explaining history or facts, or maybe just an amusing pastime. Regardless of the reason, Felurian clearly rhymes more than other characters. And sometimes words just rhyme unintentionally (just like sometimes sentences are 7 words long). Kvothe already figured out Chronicler's shorthand and should be able to check by looking at the page periodically, but yes, rhymes in a phonetic shorthand would be particularly easy to spot.

What I love about how Patrick presented the Amyr is unlike any in a fantasy story that I know of. Usually a group that are a band of heroes or a secret order are presented in the story with their perspective on the matter of the world, but in the Kingkiller, it’s only Kvothe, so we get to see how characters outside of those usual protagonist reacts to their influence.

    The "You Die Twice" theory:
I'm sure that this theory has been stated in some form or another, but I always think of it in relation to this quote: “They say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time”. I think the quote is originally attributed to Banksy, but I'm not sure.
The theory posits that the Chandrian's curse is that they must always continue to exist so long as their names are remembered. We know that names have power, and the power of their names keeps them trapped in the mortal realm. Some things that this theory explains:
    - Why the chandrian want to erase all imagery and knowledge of themselves. Their goal is to pass on (beyond the doors of stone?), and they need to erase all living memory of themselves before they can do so.
    - The "amyr, the singers, and the sithe": tackling these one at a time:
    - Amyr: Said to be named in the memory of myr tariniel after it's fall. Maybe the amyr are the ones who took an oath to always pass on the names of the chandrian so that their names are never forgotten, a way of keeping the curse alive throughout many generations
    - the singers: singers, songwriters, historians and everyone who tell stories propagate the story and the mythology of the Chandrian
    - the sithe: They guard the chthaeh, but possibly this is because the chthaeh is immortal and knows the names of the chandrian, so as long as the chthaeh lives so too will the curse
These are all just ideas, am super open to feedback

This is genius. The final book will reveal a battle between the Chandrian and the tree-thingy. The singers I assumed was also a group, but I can see them passing the names like that. And the Amyr torturing The Chandrian also makes sense.

That's why, in my opinion, Cinder was slumming it with some bandits in the forest around Vintas. He wants the Lockless box. Because I think something about the box (seeing as how it's made of the same wood as the tree the ctheah is bound to) acts as a sympathetic binding. Open the box, free the Ctheah. Also explains why Cinder would have an interest in Kvothe (assuming the theories about Cinder being either Breton or Denna's patron) because, as the rhymes go, you need blood of a son to open it. Kvothe is the son of a Lackless, or so the theories say, so there you go.

I just realized, that we only know two people playing/knowing Tak: Bredon and Felurian. Which could hint to the fact that the game itself is from the fea and so is Brendon. Also the fact that Kvothe, who outsmarts everyone in the whole series, is not able to beat Bredon even once in this game could hint to the fea and that the game itself follows different rules than his human mind could understand.

After multiple multiple re reads I am starting to believe the singers, sithe and Amyr are all branches of the same tree. Stories hold their shape better in song so I believe Scarpie is more likely part of the singers. The Sithe is known for their deadly accuracy with their bows and the story of how the ademre started with archery leans my thought in that they are offshoots of the Sithe. Felurian saying there is no human Amyr lends us to believe they are a faction of the fey and how all stories blend and swirl over time it seems to be possible that they all are connected and over time stories have changed it into being multiple groups. I believe there is more to the disliking of singing by the Adem and that has to do with the “singers.” The story of the archers and their battle and their differences in teaching and legacy it seems that there is more to that as well. Even Kvothe talks with Bast about the Sithe having good intentions or does things for the “greater good” and how that is similar to the Amyr.
I also believe that there might be a tie to the singers and the see-ers. How puppet see things and how Elodin sees into Kvothe at times and focuses on how things are worded. How seeing things is a step to understanding and when you understand a thing you know it’s name and have power over it. The greatest of the Rue is known to the fey and I think that is a tie to how singers were part of the original group that split off into the three enemies of the chandrian.
There is still more to the knot magic theory and how Denna asks about a magic that is written and how Elodin talks of yillish knots being written long before people knew how to write. I think it is an older magic than naming and that what they write in knots becomes true which is why kvothe does or says what the knots say and why Denna is so quick to untie. I feel like the city or town of Yill was destroyed because of that power. I think the power might have to do with how the master fell ill towards the end of the second book. I think teaching kvothe how to read the knots caused something or someone to retaliate.

After my third read through, I began to think that maybe the Amyr really are the bad guys, and the story Kvothe heard from Scarpi is not the complete truth.
What if the story Denna heard was closer to the truth, but "The Singers" twisted and changed the story in order to make The Seven seem like villains?
EDIT: as I continue to think on this and develop this theory, more things seem to fall into place. For instance, what if Skarpi is one of the "singers" that go about spreading the false story of Lanre. What if Selitos didn't turn down the offer to become an Amyr angel through the Ruach, but was denied the opportunity? And that's why he founded the order Amyr, because he was focused on making sure that the world knew Haliax was the "true villain."
It's been said before that history is written by the victor. What if this is an example of that?
The best part about this theory is that most people in the order will believe they are doing things for the greater good, when in reality, they are most likely serving the Cthaeh by being it's eyes, ears, hands, and mouth.

Always thought that the whole open flame in the achrives was interesting too. Like in the Lackless rhyme that a candle is one of the things necessary to open the door. So maybe with Lorren already suspicious of him for looking into the Amyr, Kvothe bringing a flame and inquiring about the four plate door has made lorren even more suspicious of him.

There’s just this passage I find so strange, and it’s that he calls the Flint birds by their real names, wich is also the name of the royal line. Could this be a hint to him actually working for the royal line, and he was a part of the plot trying to kill Alveron?

One additional reason why Loreen could very well be an amyr: He does know Arliden the Bard, and specifically asks kvothe which Arliden Hes talking about when they meet the First Time.
Kvothe says That His father wasnt really known as "Arliden the Bard" so It Isnt too Off to assume lorren as one of the amyr inspected the Killing of kvothes group Afterwards and thats why lorren knows the Name of kvothes father.
One reason more to watch Out for him because lorren knows the Connection between kvothe and the chandrian because of that.

At 6.50 it wasn't the amyr who burned the dukes place to the ground. The Duke was more than likely an Amyr himself as kvothe suspects

    • @CapturedInWords
      @CapturedInWords  2 роки тому +2

Yes the Duke was a secret Amyr, however, it was the Amyr that went against him, this is a quote from WMF chapter 41: “When the Amyr moved against the duke, they found the bones of twenty thousand people. Great pits of bones and ashes. Women and children. Twenty thousand!” Simmon sputtered a bit before he could continue. “And those are just the ones they found.”
So I think perhaps there were still members of the Amyr that were trying to keep order and justice despite other members doing terrible things in the name of the greater good

Anyhow, when he's examining the Lockless box, Kvothe says he can feel some old carvings, possibly Yllish. What if there's a Yllish knot carved into the box that says "lock" and to unlock it you have to finish the carving to make it say "lockless"?

If you're looking for more KingKiller Chronicles video ideas, I have a couple. I would like to see a presentation on the story from Ambrose's point of view. I feel that he gets an unfairly bad rap based on the enemyship between him and Kvothe. Also, it would be interesting to explore the reasons why people everywhere seem to have a negative impression of the Rou. Kvothe seems to insist that his people have more or less never done anything wrong, but nevertheless most groups of people from all over the world seem to share the same negative opinion of them. It would be interesting to explore this a little deeper.

  • @onlysily

Although off topic, I have a Theory I would like to put out there for you to maybe discuss @Captured in Words
What if temerant is one of the realms of existence like heaven earth and hell, but in the book it's either hell or earth and in this realm the spirit of jax is imprisoned. What if this spirit is reborn time and time again, only so that it forgets who it truly is and the chandrian are like guardians of this realm, protecting the spirit of jax from ever remembering who it truly is. Maybe when Kvothe (a reincarnation of said spirit) will open the doors of stone he will free himself from this realm and so to say open the gates of hell. Later when realizing what his now awoken soul really is, he imprisons himself again in the waystone inn.
As it seems so far and adding the information together, looks like Kvothe is going through more magic learning (or remembering/awakening) phases. He first learns Tier 1 stuff at the University (the magic of men), then Tier 2 is naming (the magic of namers aka angels), which he learns by traveling the world and Tier 3 will be shaping (maybe taught by Auri when he will maybe live in the underthing) (the magic of fallen angels or demons). What if the whole journey is him remembering that he was once this devil like soul (maybe encanis ?) that keeps reincarnating in jax and other characters. What if the tarborlin prophecy is also left out there as a breadcrumb trail for (and by) this devil-like soul to be guided into remembrance (since, oddly, the story isn't known in the faen realms). What if the chandrian are protecting maybe some ritual through which they captured it and the amyr, although enemies of the chandrian, also want to keep it secret since it is for the greater good.
It doesn't make complete sense but, all in all, I have a feeling that there is a lot of bible symbolism where the fall of men is through knowledge (the truth will se you free - valaritas) and later maybe similar to the middle ages this knowledge is kept hidden as it is the fruit of the devil, kept away from all by a secret church sect. Maybe a mirror play of jesus going to to open the gates of hell for the innocent, kvothe opening the doors of stone will be the reverse of this.

  • @5-Y-5

Felurian told us that there were never any human Amyr. The humans whom called themselves Amyr sound like powerful people who abused their power and were not actually 'Amyr'. The Amyr, I believe were fey and therefore they're either behind the doors of stone, which I believe could be a doorway to the equivalent of Fey prison.
