    I love that your attention to detail extends to even the washer pump! Very therapeutic and a joy to watch :)

      Thanks for the kind words. I really like trying to make things look the best I can, but it is really time consuming. Hoping to get back on the car soon.

    Great video about how does the gm wiper washer motor working.
    I'm now doing a 69 Corvette and I'm repairing that mechanism, and this video is very helpful to me. So thank You for this video and please do some more.

    As always Russ you did a great job on the restoration of that motor, and yes you are a bit away from needing it for Overkill

    Great video. Hope this is similar to my 70 Corvette 3-Port Washer Pump. Wipers work but just can't get the washers to work. When I changes all the rubber gaskets, notices my piston was all the way down. Think that may be the issue?

    • @DoubleRRestorations
      @DoubleRRestorations  3 роки тому +1

      Tough to say. I purchased a complete piston kit on eBay. They come up from time to time as a nos unit. If the solenoid is kicking in, then I would say its something with the piston.

      @@DoubleRRestorations As I get more familiar w/my 70 Corvette, this year came with a 5 port pump which 2 lines go to the headlamps. Previous owner must have changed it out to a 3 port and removed the headlight feature. I'm going to buy a new aftermarket pump for about $100 and go from there. Thanks

    Russell, the Battery Charger you're using as a power source: Do you operate it in Trickle or Car Start mode to test the wiper motor / pump? I was using a spare car battery (12v) but it's bad and won't hold a charge. I was going to get a charger like yours. Thanks

      James, the one I have is an older one that I purchased from a local store here called Magic Mart. It is a Century 87062C, model 141-194-902, it has a 12V, 6A and 2A. I'm pretty sure I had it in the 12V/6A setting.

      Russ - thanks again for your help. Does the cam on the back of the washer pump need to be aligned a specific way when the pump is re-installed back onto the motor? I have the self-parking wiper motor with the arm that comes out of "park"... does it need to be aligned to the washer cam somehow? Thanks!

    Much better then using that after market one that seems really cheaply made ..... sure does not make sense to have to tighten springs and grease and tinker with to make a brand new part to possibly work consistently ..... you may as well spend the time rebuilding the good ole original just like you have shown .... Ok this video is like most of windshield wash assembly. Mine works. Wipers work & park. But washer will not shut off. I have 2 Buicks with same set up & same problem. Does the star on back have to be on rod of motor? HELP with this problem. I have tried trouble shooting.

    • @DoubleRRestorations
      @DoubleRRestorations  4 роки тому

      It's been awhile, but I had trouble getting mine to align at first. IT took me a couple of times. I think it just rides along the outside of it. It should just slip onto it though.
