- 1970 Camaro gauge cluster restoration. We restore our Instrument cluster with parts from National Parts Depot. We also attack the problem of no oil pressure gauge with parts from Gauge Marks. This gauge restoration will work for 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978 Camaro. We install a new lens and show how to mount it without melting plastic. We talk about Gauge Marks restoring our tachometer.

After I was watching you i understand better now rebuilding was so cool😮 I was wondering if you have clock still I am in need of the part for my 1978 Camaro please 😮
My uncle has a 70s camaro in my grandma's barn. It has not ran in 10 years and I want to fix it up for fun.
Go for it! 1970 is a great year!
The GM Truck Oil Pressure Gauge from '73 will work as well, it just requires a bit of fabrication to mount to the Camaro Pod. The font matches the Camaro beautifully. The early gauge is mechanical, later gauges require a sending unit. The trucks had either a 60psi or 80psi guage face. Gauges later than '76 have a change to the font and don't match as well
Great show! We've started a new drinking game: take a shot every time Jeff says "Go in" :-)
You will be very drunk...
“Fit and fiddle” and “copacetic” should be in there too.
You folks want to get REALLY drunk.
Doing the dash cluster on my '72 Camaro now. I thought the same thing... Plastic welds to attach the lens?!?! Really?!?!?! Glad to see drilling them out and putting in a small wood screw works - exactly what I was planning on doing!
When you get the tach back ask for some gauge needle paint so you can touch them all up to match the newly done tach. I would update the dash lights to LED while you are there
Yeap. We were going to do the segment on the needle paint...but found out ours was completely dried up in the bottle...
Just be aware that painting the pointers on gauges adds weight to the pointer and throws the balance out. It's not only the mechanism that's balanced, the pointer is also. On the speedo and tacho the pointer balance is especially critical. I little dob of paint might not seem like much but it is.
If you're sending the tacho out to be calibrated anyway, best to send the speedo out also to be checked because a speedo that old will certainly have wear and/or the magnet may have lost some of its field strength.
Many people don't pay enough attention to the speedo but it's the hardest worker in the dash and it will thank you for a little love and lube.
When your instrument guy re-calibrates the tacho ask him to re-apply the paint on the pointers as well. This way he can take into account the weight of the paint and balance the pointer.
My 2 cents. :o)
Good pointers! See what we did there?! ;)
i dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account..?
I somehow lost my password. I would love any tips you can give me
@Grayson Aydin instablaster :)
I could use the clock!! I have a 78 camaro and my clock stopped working. Great show guys!

You guys still selling the clock?
Buen video i need to do tha in my 79 camaro
Yeah, my oil pressure indicator, "idiot light" came on when my 78 camaro shut off. Not exactly useful. I plan on making this conversion.
My 77 has the tachless gauge cluster so I have the oil and gen gauges on the left and I want to know how those work. Does the light go off section by section or what? It's the cluster with the cross/+ in the middle of those gauges so it looks like a fighter jet sort of and I like the look but I have no idea how to read them or how those will light up or turn off or whatever/however those work. Also what is gen? Gen meaning generator? Like battery?
I just got my 1973 Camaro and I hate not having an oil pressure gauge. I went to the website, but it does not look like they sell that gauge anymore. Can you confirm that or provide a link to this gauge?
Is there a special way the connector on the back has to be attached to the gauge cluster. It looks like there is a top and bottom on the plug end.
🤘
Rock on brother
Can the stock dash bulbs be swapped out with brighter LED bulbs? Thanks!
Yes. BUT, most of the bulbs don't have the right color and will appear to be more white. HiPo Parts carries bulbs that are more incandescent in color. Check them out at: www.hipoparts.com/
What is the part # for the oil psi Gage you used.
My tach is not working who do you recommend for a repair
gaugemarks.com/ is the site, you can just contact him direct from the page. He doesn't list a part number. He can also rebuild and reface your tach. Let him know you saw it on our show.
I bought the carbon fiber classic dash with the autometer gauges and the 3 mounts for the wiper switch are different then original on original the 3 mounts are angled and new dash 2 are angled and the single side is straight also taller??? Called Classic Dash and they gave me part# 1993464 for the wiper switch but the single mount side is on bottom not top side of switch any suggestions not wanting to start cutting up new dash. This for my 1970 split bumper camaro any help would be great thanks
How would you swap out the big fuel gauge with a tach (and swap a small fuel gauge to replace the oil gauge) on the 1973 z28? Would I need a different circuit board and is that an easy swap? HATE the big fuel gauge! Thanks
I'd contact gaugemarks.com/ and see what he can do to help.
Second message, what is the part number for the oil psi Gage you used
Sorry, I thought I answered this before. UA-cam must have not posted. There is no part number, you go to the website: gaugemarks.com/ and the gauge is about half way down on the right.
Good video. But for those trying to bring a car back to OEM specs want to replace that clock with a working unit. Can you produce that video and include how to extract the cluster from the car?
We will be doing a reassembly when we go back together.
78 parts will fit on a 79 because I have a 79 and all you talk about it 78
Is the clock still available!!!!
Maybe...I'd have to find it. email me at: jford@autorestomod.com
Man 67/68 & 70's had a great dash. I hate the 69 dash idk what the deal was with that
Cam and I were discussing that the other day. Compared to the earlier Camaro interiors, the styling of the '70's cars guts was was way better. accept that nonexistent oil pressure gauge...
To LED or not to LED? That is the question.
Not sure. If we DO LEDs we lose the rheostat function. Best bet would be to just brighten up the housing.
I will take the clock
Sorry, already gone.
Schmuck on any classic car/hotrod is irritating. Lol
