Bowtech SR6 !! Mines ready to hunt late season archery Starting tomorrow. I only dream of a buck that big in our mountains 🏔 LORD Willing !! Great Hunt ! Great shot !! Congratulations 🍾🎊🎉 !!
I commented on your sevr 2.0 video today asking which one of their broadheads you recommend for deer, guess this answers my question! lol Congrats that's a awesome deer!
Sorry I missed that. The 2.0, 1.7 and 1.5 area all great choices for deer. But I prefer the 1.5 cause it's big enough of a cut and it penetrates very well, which is important with big Iowa deer or on a quartering shot. And it's the most durable mech made. This one went thru the opposite scapula and still looked brand new.
Haha. That's hilarious! I had vid of the internal damage and pulling the Sevr 1.5 out, but I feared UA-cam would block the vid cause of the carnage. It went thru the opposite scapula and stopped in the hide. The head looked brand new.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures I dont know anyone else who's done a much testing with the number of broadheads as you. Normally I wouldn't take someones opinion as a good reference... however you are the exception. The only thing I dont agree with, is your like for expandables... but clearly they work great when they work. I just wished you were hard against mechanicals as much as I am. Keep up the great no BS work!
I can’t wait. 2 weeks and headed to Ohio. Time to chase monsters. Between your videos and crazy ass Ranch Fairy. There is tons of good stuff to wrap your head around
Good job john! Congratulations you deserve this buck after all the hard work you do for us! Those sevr's are looking better and better, especially on a shoulder shot.
Thanks Jimena. I really appreciate it. I had vid of the internal damage and pulling the head out, but I feared UA-cam would block the vid cause of the carnage. It went thru the opposite scapula and stopped in the hide. The head looked brand new.
Nice one!! They just love dying at the bottom of a nice ravine.. I have only had one deer run towards the "truck" (it ran towards my bud's house.) after being shot . LOL
Thank you. The head looked BRAND NEW. I have some great footage of pulling it out of the deer--it went all the way to the opposite hide. I didn't include that in this vid cause I was worried UA-cam would flag it as Offensive with all the blood.
I was thinking the second that arrow hit, "are you KIDDING, the king of broad head penetration takes a shot like that" lol Got it done anyway, total beast !!
Thank you. Yeah, just search Sevr Lusk on UA-cam and you'll see all my tests and hunts with them. I just recently shot a 275 lb boar with one--a Texas Heart Shot at that--and it only went about 20 yards. That's really impressive for a mech.
Well, I do that because of all the testing I do. The Sevr 1.5 is the most durable mech made--much stronger than many fixed blade heads. Have you seen the vid tests I've done on it?
What did you use to record your hunt with? I have used a Sony AS-10 on my bow, but I'm probably going to start using a Git up G3 Duo (at 2.8x zoom) as well. Congrats on a great buck!
Thank you. I used a GoPro Hero 7 Black attached to my stabilizer. I love it...but I wish I could zoom it without having to touch the screen. When I’m wearing gloves, that doesn’t work...hence the vid is not as clear as I’d like when I enlarge it. But the stabilization is incredible.
@@JohnLuskOutdoors The wider the field of view the better the stabilization typically works so more zoom changes that but if you zoom in you might be able to add some additional stabilization with the editor. From what I have found the Sony's have the best stabilization because they use optical stabilization instead of digital but the GoPro's do pretty well. Do you turn it on when the deer comes or leave it recording the whole hunt?
MrWhitetail I see. I’ve been really pleased with the stabilization; I’ve even run with it on, chasing hogs, and it looks like I’m gliding. I’m going to get a 9 Black so I can enlarge it more and still have good quality. I only turn it on when a deer comes in. Just filmed while shooting a doe this am :)
@@JohnLuskOutdoors I don't know much about the GoPro's but most camera's like that have a car DVR mode where you can plug into an external battery & run it non stop for hours recording in 10 minutes clips. That way you don't have any movement turning it on when a deer comes & you can't forget to turn it on. Not sure if that would be something you would find useful or not but thought I would throw it out there.
I should have done that on this one. I deboned it there in the field. There are a number of other vids showing how to do that--just search for Gutless Method of Field Dressing or Deboning an Elk.
Thank you. Yeah, it was a bow mounted GoPro Hero 7 Black. I could have zoomed in more, but it happened to fast for me to do that. It was just over 35 yds away.
Was that shot really that tight to the tree, or did the camera angle make it look so? Heck of a shot! Also, not sure if there was enough blood for the Blade blood bath song lol.
I'm not sure what that song was; I just downloaded it from UA-cam. The camera made the angle look tighter than it was--but it was pretty tight at the same time. I just didn't think I would get a better shot.
What poundage on the bow? I have the Sevr 1.5's but only shoot 52 lbs so I'm a little hesitant to shoot them. I used a Magnus 2 blade last year but wasn't impressed with the tip curling over after hitting a bone.
What a great buck! Well done. Thank you for your awsome broadhead reviews.
Thank you!
Awesome deer John!

How many people came here to see what broadhead was used? I know I did.
Yep, was my first thought.
i clicked to see if he put some mdf in front of the deer first.

Nevermind I’m surprised you still use an expandable broad head with all the testing you do

Holy smoke, inches from that tree nice one
Yeah, it worked out well :) Thank you
That's an awesome Iowa buck. Hope I'll be able to find one that big next season.
Thank you. I'm so grateful.
Beautiful Buck….these sevr Heads seem to be a very good Whitetail Option.
Yeah, they've never let me down--I've taken at least 20 animals with them so far: whitetail, mulie, hogs, turkeys, and African plains game.
Nice job!
Thank you!
That is awesome. Very beautiful buck. Looks like that sevr head is doing the job.what arrows do you use?
Thank you! I’ve been really pleased with its performance. I am using a Bishop FOC king arrow. This was a 450 grain one.

Great shot and amazing buck! Are you still using SEVR broadheads? Any issues?
Thanks Allen. Man, I've taken so many animals with them--including a moose last fall. Still my favorite mech by far.

I shoot 72# but only a 27" draw and 450 gr arrow. the 1.5 just got named by Field & Stream as the Best Elk Broadhead for 2023.
Good way to get shot carrying those Antlers way high on your back like that. Go back to hunters safety.
Well, it's private land and I'm the only hunter and could get the truck to only 200 yds away, so I'm good. Thanks for the concern.
