Oh my!!! I haven't seen Kevin on video in a long time. It's so good to hear his voice & watch him explain how he gets his results. He's the reason I tried my hand at painting 4 years ago. I'm feeling a bit more unstressed now.....
😅
Wonderful change in video being black canvas, concentrating on just the trees, and keeping it short and not full finished artwork. Very refreshing brother Kevin.
Add a moon, few stars and distant hills and the path you mentioned! Wonderful lesson thank you
These are really great tips! This is going to really make my paintings pop and save me literally hours. Thanks Mr. Hill! You really are the best at this.
Thank you! Thank you!! I was an art major in college but I drifted to the entertainment industry…….. however I still paint and after a few years was still unable to paint leaves……so now I have a mentor! YOU!! Thank you again…….. you are a gift to us all!! I just subscribed to your website….. God bless!
I love your energy. You were smiling the entire which made me smile the entire time!
Right on Kevin, I haven't tried oil yet, just dabbling with acrylic. I really don't have good natural bristle brushes but I have to make that big decision and start experimenting with oils. Thank you for the great videos and tips for us:)
I must say kevin, you are a boy genius in my book.your techniques are amazing, unlike any of the other artists on UA-cam. I mostly listen to you explain, I pay attention also. But I seem to learn more by listening to you.
Love how you explain how you paint Kevin. Your my inspiration !!
It seems the old masters spend a week painting one tree with every single leaf painted individually with a tiny brush.
I've learned more from you in the last 20 minutes than I have in the past year. lol you are GREAT sir thank you!!!
Great video. Over time I'm using towels more often to paint vegetation. It gives a good controlled randomization.
Thanks for the tips. Also love the way you speak, soft and clear.👍👍👍
I love your paintings so much Dear Kevin You are the best painter in the world for me.😊😇🥰😍🤗
Can’t wait for your live stream on the 31st 🎉 currently painting Autumn River again for my neighbor. You’re the best teacher 🖼
I just bought all the supplies today, because I want to do landscapes. And trees worried me a bit, thank you for this ☺️
Thanks Kevin. That was super helpful. I’m anxious to try this on my trees.
Awesome tutorial Kevin! Thank You
Thank you Kevin, I have learned something new today. I'm a beginner so thank you for your tips,
Loved all the tips, your paintings are amazing ✨✨✨✨✨

Thanks for the awesome tips Kevin ! I recently purchased a dozen of your painting dvds and can't wait to have a go at them !
Thanks for showing me a better way to do my trees. You are awesome😊
Hi Kevin,it’s so nice to see you,Om I don’t know why you decided to do this painting. But I was just saying Kevin needs to do a video on how to paint leaves 🍁.
Thank you so much,I’m downloading this one.
Thank you, Kevin. I have been looking for ways to get my trees more realistic sooner. you nailed it.
Can you use this same technique with acrylics? Love your painting's ! ❤️
Great techniques. Thank you for sharing them. I'll certainly give these a go.
Absolutely outstanding. Thank you 🙏
Very very cool. I struggle with leaves and have been using paper towels with acrylic but then struggling with the oil over the top- going to try with a cotton cloth and oils
TY for the very informative tips, Kevin. I use acrylics and you have some that I've watched that you've done in acrylic. I listen to your tips which help me a lot of times.
Oh wow! I needed this for today! You're genius with your artistry, Kevin. Thank you for this!
Very nice technique Kevin, I will definitely give it a try. I enjoy painting landscapes. Thanks!
Oh my beautiful drawing thank you
It looked like autumn leaves lit up at night🍁🌙. It may be an example of how to draw a tree, but it is quite fresh and attractive when viewed as a single work⚡🌟.
Magnifique, comme toujours ! 😀❤❤👍🇨🇵
Thankyou so much for this vedio ,just made me wanna get the oils out and crank things up a bit .so enjoyed it.
Thank you, Kevin, for a great tutorial! I learn so much from your videos!

I love your channel. I've been a fan for years.
Such a great painting. Thank you for sharing this😍
What a find you are! I love this video! Thank you!
I, too, am a professional artist and I appreciate your tips. I don't know if you've experienced this or not (most likely you have), but once you've reached about the point you are at in this painting, it begins to speak to you, doesn't it?
I can see all kinds of undergrowth back beneath your trees, along with some less prominent trees off to the right side of the canvas, with one tree in subdued reddish tones nearer to the foreground the on the far right. It's highlighted by your light source, just as you've done with the rest of your trees, especially the one on the far left.
Then, about 2/3 of the way up, starting up under your 2 most prominent trees to the left, I envision a multi-tiered waterfall tumbling down into a pond that takes up most of the foreground, but flows off toward the right.
Then, here and there, I see along the banks of the of the pond, clusters of wildflowers, mainly in blues and pinks with a white one here and there. In the lower left foreground, perhaps I would paint a I could go on and on!
I love what you've done so far! It's very inspiring and makes me want to just jump in and take over (which would be extremely rude of me), but this is what I meant when I was talking about the painting speaking to you!
Thank you so much for these great tips
Interesting. Nice explanation.
Now let's see it in acrylic!
Marvelous. Thank you!!!
Great tips, thanks Kevin!
О, це якраз те що мені було потрібно! Дякую! :)
Awesome tip with the shop towel or even lay it flat to get the pigment and oil off so you get get MUD when you layer!! KH Your the man!!
Thank you for your tip on trees i am going to try that in my next painting thank you again kathy
Thanks Kevin for the videos
Excellent tutorial 🙏🧑🎨
incredible resource!!!
Excellent
Eureka! A secret revealed. Thank you, Sir!
Well done. Good job. Good boy
Muchas gracias Kevin
It is effective! Thanks
Sometimes your hand blocks your brush, and I can't see what you're doing 😢. Are you tapping straight on? With a downward tap? Would love to be able to see the brush strike the canvas.
I've only watched a couple of your videos so far and am excited to try them!
great tips thankyou
What kind and SIZE brush do you use for the comma strokes? I enjoyed this and have a lot to learn about doing TREES!
❤ Danke für diese Tipps 👌👍
Thank you
Bellissimo dipinto bravooo ciao Marisa
Kevin! Aren't you bored of landscape? I feel you are lucky that you aren't bored.
Lindo, lindo, lindo 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 BRASIL
Hi Kevin. I enjoyed watching your video. The technique you used was phenomenal. My medium I use acrylics. Can you use this technique in acrylic painting? Have an awesome day.
Great videos
Rather than adding light colors and again coming back to add dark colors. Can you also start with the dark colors in the background, your branches in the middle ground and the highlights are the light colors in the foreground? Noting that as you add the light colors or highlight colors in the foreground, you don't keep some of the dark colors so that you don't have a flat tree? That said, great tips and amazing stuff. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Thank you sir
Thank you, I get you.
Technique works great. Have you tried it one regular back drop like a sky or typical background?
I should say "on".
Oi kelve solhando ou uma das suas adimiradoura de pintura ja fez muita pintura olhando você pintarpinturas mais no momento estou sem condições de pintar mais e lindo suas pintu

does, thta work on the acrylic paint too,?
Yes it does
Thanks man,
Hey!... Thanks for the cool ideas! What color is over yander left of your pallette? (The reddish one...)
😊Hvala❤🤗Croatia
I wonder what the effect would be...if after the bold "comma strokes", you LIGHTLY blotted them......AND then more on top. Just wondering what kind of depth that would bring?
clever
Can you apply the same concept with acrylic paint?
Can this technique apply to acrylic paints?
I'm going to find out soon. Might try using extender
Of course you can
👏
Are you modifying your highlight paint or straight out of the tube?
I have a picture I want to paint that has a large perfectly round moon. Probably 4-5 in circumference. Would you freehand this or use something like contact paper or a lid or something?
❤
great artist and so helpful thankyou
Can you give an example of painting trees without leaves
does this teq, work with acrylics ?
I use watercolor, so, buy black paper, yes?

👍👍👍👍🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
what level canvas are you using?
the most difficult part of the comma strokes is to not make it look like a pattern - thats what always makes mine look uglier when i paint comma strokes, but I guess they require lots of practice to get the shapes down perfectly.
Agreed sir. Same here
@@Milania717 thanks for the recommendations - I've found that the best comma strokes for me are from the bigger number liner brushes with lots of paint, now I feel the need to do comma strokes on every painting, because it looks so good
