Super awesome video. Love how well you document your experiences and the scenery. Seeing you and Spencer there gave me the feeling of two warriors traveling to a final fight but having some self-reflection in a spiritual location before the battle. Anyway can't wait for the next.

That means so much! I really try to evoke the emotions I felt during those moments so I can share them with you guys who may not be able to travel there. Such a cool angle to think of it as a boss fight lead up. Love it! Me and Spencer are always tackling life’s bosses!

Thank you so much!! Sharing my personal thoughts and philosophy is very fulfilling to me so I love making these videos, people usually don’t give them a lot of views because they preferred the flashy stuff so it means a lot that you enjoyed it. If they perform well I will do more of these , some of my personal favorites 🙏🏻 my Everest video is much more in depth if you liked this style give it a watch!

I would love more intellectual and philosophical videos like these 😁
You say your views are less for videos like these... But if it means anything, count me as one of the few who "would" view it

It's always really interesting to see you doing the forms, bc then I can compare it with the forms my Sifu teaches. Sometimes the moves are the exact same ones, sometimes I almost can't recognize the technique. My master learned the forms from his master who already modified the forms in ways he thought were better and my master did the same with his masters form. For example when you did the Cham Kiu moves at 3:27, where you slapped your own arm. The turning with the double elbows before that was pretty much the same for us, but after that our tan sao stays stationary while you thrust it forward while slapping your bizeps, while we slap our forarm while focussing on having the elbow on the same level as the hand (for extra protection in other situations). My master invented this to train yourself to not lose the forward-focus/momentum with the tan sao arm when given an impulse (the slap to the forarm), so that the attacker can't just use that quick-pull hit to the face combo on you. I hope you understood my explanation :P
I have a vague idea what you want want to achieve with your execution of this part of the form, but it would be nice to hear your explanation of this part, perhaps we could even implement it in our training, too :D my Sifu loves new approches to the form and techniques

So cool! Thanks for sharing I love that we all have slight variations in our movement and that’s what makes us unique and body style based. I’ve done a few videos on how I use the chum kiu turning in application and I’ll have to explain more in the future! This was such a rare and quiet way for me to practice. I usually do it quite ferociously

so glad you read CHUANG TZU, Learning kung fu is not only to improve one's Fighting skills and body building up, but also to cultivate one's moral character and temperament ,( in Chinese we say "修身养性 "). In addition you've learned a lot about Buddhism and Taoism, Definitely you are on the right track...

Hey Philip, can I ask, how are you able to integrate martial arts into your life while still living in society? Like do you have a side job, because if you study martial arts full time...then how do you afford travel, food, and etc?

I am a content creator to make a living, which allowed me to go train at the Shaolin temple as well as other big opportunities, I am also a videographer and editor for hire. I just use my skills to exist and follow my passions, not just martial arts, I hope that helps 🙏🏻
