Howl's moving castle is one of my favorites! I actually started reading A monster calls a few days ago because of the movie. I second that both of them are really great for this time of year.
A Discovery Of Witches by Deborah Harkness is great for this time of year because the first book, A Discovery Of Witches happens before Halloween. It starts in September, I believe. Halloween is featured in it though.
I adore Howl's Moving Castle! I am not a big YA fan, but I'm 31 years old, and Howl and Sophie capture my imagination and pull me into their magical world. Studio Ghibli did a fantastic job with the movie! So lovely. Also, you've inspired me to put The Night Circus on my TBR. I'm intrigued.
Thank you for reminding me that I LOVE Howl's Moving Castle! It's been a few years but I remember what a cool, clever, & at times really funny book it was....☺
Have you read Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury? It's an older book (60s I think) but it's about a dark carnival and you might really like it. I'm a pretty hardcore fan of horror so I enjoy stuff like Stephen King, The Merciless by Danielle Vega, R.L. Stine. I try to branch out to new stuff as well. Most horror classics are pretty solid. I read The Stepford Wives last year and I think that's another you would enjoy, especially considering politics lately in regards to women's rights.
Jennifer Cahill Jennifer Cahill ahhh yay!!!! I hope you enjoy it! ❤️❤️❤️ And thank you for all the recommendations! I'm definitely adding some of those to my list, especially Stepford Wives, that one sounds amazing! 😊😊
I love that you love The Night Circus because it's so beautiful. It took me so long to finish but on one 20 hour road trip I stopped and finished it and I'm so glad I did
the night circus was also on my halloween recommendations video ❤️❤️ it just has all the elements and atmosphere! also i finished a monster calls today and i agree it was more sad than scary, the illustrations are the creepiest part
Just wanna give a shout out/due credit to Siobhan Dowd, who was the original author of A Monster Calls but who sadly died of cancer before she could complete it :'(
Great eerie and magical Halloween Recommendations! I have been wanting to read The Infernal Devices for what seems like forever especially because I loved TMI and LM by Cassandra Clare. So I think this holiday season is the perfect time to finally pick them up! So thanks for reminding me! Hope your Holiday is going fangtastic! :)
Ok never mind haha i see you have the uk vintage edition as well lol Where did you get it? Ahh I also have caraval! I've heard nothing but great things about it! A monster calls I CANT wait for the movie!! 👏🏻
I recently read both A Monster Calls and The Night Circus and I adored both of them! I would recommed anything by Victoria/V.E. Schwab because I love her writing and I think the atmosphere in her books is really fitting for this time of year.
I loooove the Six of Crows duology! It's just absolutely brilliant, and by far, one of the best series I've ever read too. Also, I definitely feel like The Raven Cycle is a good read for the season! I still have to read The Raven King 😳

Beth You can technically read them in whatever order you want, but I'd recommend reading them in order of publication date. So that would be City of Bones through City of Glass, Clockwork Angel, City of Fallen Angels, Clockwork Prince, City of Lost Souls, Clockwork Princess, and finally City of Heavenly Fire.
