all these books look gorgeous omg! from your past videos I feel like we might have the same taste in the kind of romance we like so Im noting all these down 📝
The Night Circus is one of my all time favorite books ever. It's that rare combination of gorgeous prose, wonderful characters, a sense of wonder, and a world hidden right beneath everybody's noses. Love that.
justice for strange the dreamer!!! it’s so beautifully written and atmospheric and captivating. i honestly believe laini taylors books never got the hype they deserved. she’s in my top 5 favourite authors
I'm going to try Strang the Dreamer, but I'm iffy. I don't want insta love between teenagers. But apparently this book is well written with purple prose to die for.
I'm wondering if someone knows about fairies of dreamdark - everytime someone mentioned Laini's books are only Stranger the dreamer and Daughter of smoke and bone.
@@deborahcarvalho4383 the Dreamdark books are beautiful! They’re more middle grade, no romance, so I think not as widely appealing. DoSaB is SO GOOD though; I think it needs more love than StD.
I will read anything she writes!!! She has a story compilation called Lips Touch Three Times that is also beautiful. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is a dear favorite of mine. Definitely top 5.
the strange the dreamer duology is my fav series of all time and i’ve gotten so many people to read it bc it’s just so good. i know laini taylor is getting close to finishing her next book, which i’m excited beyond words for

Amazing list! The Shepherd King duology ("One Dark Window", "Two Twisted Crowns") is amazing. More on the gothic side than fantasy but it's a beautiful two-piece series. They work so well together. Chef's kiss. Also "Starling House" is another great fantasy book. It's a bit more on the gothic side as well.
Strange the dreamer is perfection !! I absolutly loved how the plot went on pause halfway through to develop the cutest relationship ever !! It made the rest of the story so much more impactful !
IM SO GLAD TO SEE EMILY WILDES ON HERE!!!! that book was so cozy and i will definitely be rereading it again, and the romance was light enough that i felt it didn’t overshadow the plot and emily’s overall goals and i absolutely loved that
YES strange the dreamer!! I was in such a reading slump but from the first chapter this book literally drew me in, it’s one of my favourites. I would die to see a live action. So immersive.
I almost cried with joy when you mentioned the Graceling series. I loved them when I was a teen and must have read them a thousand times. I only recently reread the first three books and I like them all, but I especially loved Fire, because it has this component of breaking family cycles, which I as a traumatized kid love to pieces (along with found family). But overall it's a great series and when I reread it I was really surprised how healthy the romances were, as you usually find pretty toxic relationships in YA. But other than that, I could write so many books down on my TBR, so thank you sincerely for making this video
Heading to the library today. I'm excited to try some of these! The Night Circus was a surprise random find because I was obsessed with the cover and concept. It's still one of the most artistic beautiful novels I have ever read. I put that night circus into my D&D campaign. The imagery is mind blowing, the characters are wonderful. An all time favorite for me. I just want to spend more time in the circus.
I’m not a huge fantasy or romance reader, but I really enjoyed the whole Caraval trilogy. I’d really like to re-read the first book at some point because it was such an exciting time
I have tried sooo many times to read The Night Circus and could not get into to it sadly, but you saying it’s no plot just vibes makes sooooo much sense to me now. I am a world building plot girly, I can excuse flat characters if I like the world and plot, but if there’s no plot I’m bored
I’ve read every single one of Rebecca Ross’ books and I love them so much! The Isle Of Cadence duology has to be one of my absolute favourite from her! So magical, so passionate, truly a delightful read. If you haven’t read anything of Rebecca Ross’ yet and you’re searching for some good fantasy reads I highly recommend giving her a go. Happy reading everyone! ❤️
I love how you described the Infernal Devices series!! If there's ever a book I wish I could read for the first time again, it's this one. It's the best series in the Shadowhunter world!!
One of my favourite fantasy romance is the binding by Bridget Collins. I absolutely loved the bookish cottage core vibe and how the romance blossoms slowly but beautifuly and how it breaks your heart just as much as it warms it too !
Speaking of older fantasy romance, I highly recommend Sharon Shinn, particularly her book Summers at Castle Auburn. It's an excellent comfort read for me, and kind of reminds me of Margaret Rogerson.
The Infernal Devices ia an ACTUAL love triangle. Jem loves Will AND Tessa. Will loves Tessa AND Jem. Tessa loves Jem AND Will. These three would live for each other, and die for each other. The ending was just so perfect and SO right.
I love love love the Graceling series so much! Thank you for putting it in this video! Not only is the romance wonderful, but the main characters are all such good and varied examples of strong female characters. I also haven't read the two newest books, but Bitterblue is my favorite, although I feel like Bitterblue might have the least amount of romance. Also would recommend looking up trigger warnings for them, especially Bitterblue!!
i know this was a month ago but i just read the very secret society of irregular witches and oh my god it is the best thing i have read in a while, mika meant so much to me as a character and i related to her on a whole other level, because of the fact that she never felt like she belonged anywhere (and also she’s indian) i completely understand why you loved this so much, hannah, thank you for recommending it!
The clockwork trilogy is an all time favorite of mine. I’m looking at them on my shelves right now, and am tempted to read them a third time ❤ I enjoyed Erin’s and Laini’s books, as well.
I didn’t read Strange the Dreamer until last year, and OMG it is my all time favorite series now, I am obsessed and I just got done meeting the author at a book signing she did recently in my state and I such a fanboy now!
So happy Once Upon a Broken Heart series is on here! One of my favorite fantasy series of the year and can’t wait for the third 💛 Can’t wait to read the rest of your recs😄
THIS is the kind of fantasy romance that is absolutely my taste - atmospheric, beautiful and romantic. Nothing against some of the sexier books or the people who love them (they can be fun!), but this is the sort of recommendation that I’m always looking for. Some of my absolute favourites are on this list, as well as a few that I still need to get to!
I am thrilled to see Strange the Dreamer here, and yeah people have stopped talking about it which is such a shame. I really do need another Laini Taylor book and soon.
I'd also like to add to this list: 1) Girl, Goddess, Queen by Bea Fitzgerald Arguably it's more Greek mythology retelling than fantasy romance, but I absolutely loved it. It's a very feminist retelling of Hades and Persephone and the cover is absolutely gorgeous. 2) A Witch's Guide To Fake Dating A Demon by Sarah Hawley It's urban fantasy romance between a witch and the demon she accidentally summoned who now would like to purchase her soul. Problem is he recently acquired his own human soul which now creates a lot of weird feelings... Be prepared for some heavy, though thoroughly consented smut and possibly a new kink (demon horns anyone? *cough*)
Kindle recommended the fake dating book on my homepage yet I wasn't sure it was with it. Although now it does sound like a fun read to me. Adding it my tbr 😉
I just wanted to say thank u for introducing me to strange the dreamer! I‘m german and literally nobody talks or even knows about this duology. Without you I would have never read it. Now they are my favorite books ❤
So excited to make my way through this list! A few recommendations of my own: 1) A Natural History of Dragons (Series), definitely a lot less romance in this one, but it really reminded me of Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries and I think if you liked one you will like the other. 2) The City of Brass (Trilogy), I just finished it and it has quickly become one of my favorites of all time, great romance, great fantasy. 3) The Magician's Daughter, not a romance at all, but some very strong Howl's Moving Castle vibes
Okay, you are officially my book twin! I have either read these books or they are on my TBR list (I so need to learn to get better at speed reading so I can get through all of the books I want to read :) I am currently reading "Ruthless Vows" the second book in the Divine Rivals Duology which came out today, and I am loving it! I am so glad that it came out while I am off for the holidays so I can devour it in an uninterrupted reading session. I hope you had a wonderful holiday.
My cousin gave me a book from the Regency Faerie Tales series called "Half a Soul" by Olivia Atwater and I am SO in love with it! It is such an easy read, great vibes, I loved the dynamic that the main couple had; everything about it was wonderful and so incredibly cute! It's set in Regency England/London and the fantasy aspect of it are the faeries and the faerie world. There are other books in this universe that I would recommend checking out as well, but I would consider "Half a Soul" to be standalone enough. I'm obsessed with it and I can't stop thinking about it! Love your videos Hannah
I could not get into The Night Circus the first time I tried to read it years ago. But my reading tastes have changed significantly, and I like more slower-paced books now, so you've convinced me to give it another try!
I just finished reading The Infernal Devices trilogy for the first time, 2 days ago! I'm actually going through all of her books in some "recommended order" I found online, so I read the first 3 Shadowhunter books, then Infernal Devices then I go back to finish the shadowhunter series, then on... I'm really enjoying them all so far. I also read the Strange the Dreamer duology earlier this year, which was also amazing! I think I've read at least half of the books you mentioned in this video, this year after discovering your channel, so Thank You for some of my now all time favorite books! ❤
I had access to the A Sorcery of Thorns ebook recently and remembered your recommendation so I went into it... it was great! I thought I was too old for the genre but this book reminded me of what had made me so invested in the first place. I would say it's half Howl's Moving Castle and half Black Butler 🧐
Thank you for the Strange the Dreamer love! Definitely has stuck with me since I read it and one of my favorite YA series (and put Laini Taylor as one of my favorite authors). This also solidified that I'll like your reccs haha. (I am also currently reading Emily Wilde's Encyclopeadia of Faeries 😂)
I'm currently reading Emily Wilde right now - super happy to hear that you liked it! Gives me more encouragement to finish it, although I didn't know it was part of a series 🫀🖤
I ALWAYS recommend Sorcery of Thorns to people. It's such a good book. I had a lot of fun with the Remnant Chronicles trilogy by Mary E. Pearson. Especially the first book. I read it with my coworker so we had so much fun talking about the will they won't they of the love triangle and all that. (Not the best thing I've read but really fun, especially as a buddy read lol)
I don't really care about most Cassandra Clare's books, BUT the infernal devices is SO GOOD!!! I love the three books so much it makes me wanna cry!. Will Herondale will be my #1 literary crush of all time
The Seven Realms series is never mentioned on these kinda lists and it's so sad! it's older but it's sooo good and so nostalgic with fabulous strong characters and tons of solid world building and plot!!
I agree with you on the night circus, I LOVE the characters and the romance in it, this video is making me want to read it again since so far I’ve actually only read it the once but it’s definitely also one of my favourite books!
The Dangerous Damsels series is a really fun one!! They're regency era fantasies with lady pirates and witches and flying battlehouses and it's just a silly goofy time with really lovable characters and amazing romances 🥰 the first (The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels) and the third (The Secret Service of Tea and Treason) are my absolute favorites
I've just finished reading the infernal devices series, I bought the books after getting recommendation from this vedio and now I'm in an absolute overwhelmed state and need to calm my heart, soul and mind before I can speak about the books in simple declarative sentences thank you very much
the Winternight trilogy has one of my all time favorite romances. it’s a big part of the plot and vibes later on but also not the main part so idk if it counts but wanted to recommend
Everything you said about The Infernal Devices was just perfect. 😭 That series single handedly fuelled my love for fantasy romance, and I will never get over it, even though it's been years since I first read it. There's something in those books…like you said…they're just. Intoxicating. Those three still have a chokehold on me and my heart beats fast every time I reread them 😭
Stardust! Unlike the movie, the book is more focused on the adventure/fantasy aspect, but the romance is there and its so lovely (enemies to reluctant friends to lovers) and it’s a stand alone. It has a full on novel, but the illustrated version is absolutely stunning, I think it’s my favorite Neil Gaiman of all time
I finished The Night Circus yesterday (from a past video rec of yours) and I absolutely loved it. I found your original review today on it and I'm so glad you still love it after all this time! 🎪
in other lands by sarah rees brennan is a standalone fantasy romance that i just read for the first time this year, and it was immediately a favorite. it's witty and whimsical, but it also hurts! the story spans years, so you get to know the characters so well, come to love them in all their messiness and miscommunication. highly, highly recommend.
i just read the very secret society of irregular witches and it was my first 5 star novel of the year. it was soo cute, the found family was great, i loveddd it so much. i legit cried from it which is crazy bc i DID NOT EXPECT it to hit like that!!! very much agree with this rec ❤❤❤
hi Hannah, I'm French and I rly like your videos, you gave me motivation to read in English (- The gentleman's guide of vice and virtue is definitely one of my favorite) , so I hope you'll soon be able to read "Le petit prince" in original language. thank u so much for your videos and keep going your French learning !
Fantasy-Romance books to add: 1) Silver in the Wood - A short story duology with fantasy m/m romance 2) the Paper Magician by Charlie Holmberg - victorian set fantasy inwhich the apprentice must magically travel through her teacher's heart in order to save him (grumpy/sunshine and age gap tropes). 3) any Charlie Holmberg books as most are light/urban fantasy with romance
I think you'd love Half a Soul, by Olivia Atwater! It is a fae fantasy romance set in Regency England and the male main character definitely reminded me of Howl. Also, A Winter's Promise, by Christelle Dabos. A very veryyy slow burn marriage of convenience romance set in a fantasy wold reminicent of all the best Ghibli movies!
I thought for sure that an ember in the ashes or one of the books from that series would be here. But now I have such high expectations for the other books in this list that I haven't read if those were able to beat it out.
Hi hannah! I don't know if you've seen the show Lockwood & Co (it's also a book series) but it gave me similar vibes to A Sorcery of Thorns and Clockwork Angel, but with ghosts :) It's super underrated but I would totally recommend it!! Also, the trio in the show...*chefs kiss*
I WAS LITERALLY JUST SEARCHING FOR FANTASY ROMANCE BOOK RECS A FEW HOURS AGO OH MY GOD MOTHER THANK U??? ive always trusted u when it comes to books so im so glad u made this!

Tips for removing stickers on book, use a hair dryer and a blade. I work at a used book store and we take stickers off all the time using this method. Then use goo gone of there is sticky residue left over. Works like a charm!
I‘m currently reading the very secret society of irregular witches and I was so surprised to see it in this video because I have never seen it anywhere else before but I absolutely agree! I picked it up for the vibes and the found family but now I also LOVE Jamie and Mika so much! They’re really making me squeal and giggle and kick my feet under the blanket while I read😂

I have a book recommendation for you. It seems like we have the same taste and thoughts about different books. I really think you should love the: The Dictionary of Lost Words - Pip Williams. I really really loved that book.
Graceling brought me into fantasy! I think you would really like Seasparrow, the fifth book in the series. Kristin Cashore has also written a book named Jane, Unlimited that feels up your alley
STOPPPP IM DYING LAUGHING YOU SAID “i don’t know what she put in here THERES DRUGS!” To describe the infernal devices and i lost it because THERE ACTUALLY ARE DRUGS IN THE BOOK *clenches fists*

1) Girl, Goddess, Queen by Bea Fitzgerald
Arguably it's more Greek mythology retelling than fantasy romance, but I absolutely loved it. It's a very feminist retelling of Hades and Persephone and the cover is absolutely gorgeous.
2) A Witch's Guide To Fake Dating A Demon by Sarah Hawley
It's urban fantasy romance between a witch and the demon she accidentally summoned who now would like to purchase her soul.
A few recommendations of my own:
1) A Natural History of Dragons (Series), definitely a lot less romance in this one, but it really reminded me of Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries and I think if you liked one you will like the other.
2) The City of Brass (Trilogy), I just finished it and it has quickly become one of my favorites of all time, great romance, great fantasy.
3) The Magician's Daughter, not a romance at all, but some very strong Howl's Moving Castle vibes
literally this is a list of all of my favorite books--there are a few that I haven't read that just got bumped wayyy up on my tbr
2 books in this genre that I love which rarely get mentioned:
The undertaking of Hart and Mercy
Letters to Half Moon Street
I love this one!! totally second this recommendation
I'm honestly surprised that I haven't seen many others talk about it! Glad to see another fan! :D @@xJillie
Video starts at 3:50 - i love these books added so many to my tbr😂
I had access to the A Sorcery of Thorns ebook recently and remembered your recommendation so I went into it... it was great! I thought I was too old for the genre but this book reminded me of what had made me so invested in the first place.
I would say it's half Howl's Moving Castle and half Black Butler 🧐
if you're up for it you should totally do a poetry rec video!! i'm just getting into it and want some good poetry to read
can you please do a video of books based on fairy/fae, i just got back into reading and they’re so far the most intriguing
THE NIGHT CIRCUS AND STARLESS SEA OML ARE SOO GOODDD I LOVE THEM SOSOSOSOOS MUCH IM LITTERLY OBSESSED ❤❤❤
YES!! You put Sorcery of Thorns up there!! A must read!! Love that book! :D
The Night Circus was EVERYTHING.
I read half of the list and I approve they are really good books
The Infernal Devices is the best Shadowhunter series. One of my favorite fantasy series in general.
I don't really care about most Cassandra Clare's books, BUT the infernal devices is SO GOOD!!! I love the three books so much it makes me wanna cry!. Will Herondale will be my #1 literary crush of all time
Same the only ones I like by her is the infernal devices & the last hours series
Hi can you tell me if the romance end game is good or not? I don't like to read love triangles and I want to get into this series.
The Seven Realms series is never mentioned on these kinda lists and it's so sad! it's older but it's sooo good and so nostalgic with fabulous strong characters and tons of solid world building and plot!!
I just read these and I’m obsessed
It is a favorite of mine too and do beautifully written. Love it.
Omg sameee it was so amazing!
I completely agree on avoiding a book purchase due to a sticker on the cover. I absolutely LOVE Divine Rivals!! 💕
Hannah, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness. The timestamps you put in the description box helps us a lot. 💙
The Infernal Devices isn't old in my heart! Always rep them!
hi Hannah, I'm French and I rly like your videos, you gave me motivation to read in English (- The gentleman's guide of vice and virtue is definitely one of my favorite) , so I hope you'll soon be able to read "Le petit prince" in original language. thank u so much for your videos and keep going your French learning !
Fantasy-Romance books to add: 1) Silver in the Wood - A short story duology with fantasy m/m romance
2) the Paper Magician by Charlie Holmberg - victorian set fantasy inwhich the apprentice must magically travel through her teacher's heart in order to save him (grumpy/sunshine and age gap tropes).
Just started Divine Rivals today, and I think I'm gonna finish it today, its vvv good, thanks for the rec lol
I'm going to re-read Cassandra Clare's books next year as I haven't read The Last Hours yet. I know it will take me a while but I'm excited ❤❤❤
I started this year! Haven't read most of them. I've reread TID and TMI. The only other ones I've read were TBC and Lady Midnight. So I'm going to reread Bane, read Simon's book and then crack on with the series I've not read!
@@sunsets.starlight same, I'm going to re-read Bane and Simon's books xx
I re-read TID and believe me I cried alot more this time than I did the first time😭😭
So good luck to u💕
@@alefiyabattiwala4429 thank you 😊
Hannah, I'm French and your accent is so good! I could listen to you speak French for hours, your sound so adorable 🥰
I’m struggling mentally a lot right now and your channel is an incredible help
I have at least half of your recommendations in my TBR pile and adding all of the rest. I trust you blindly with this list. Loving your channel.
Tips for removing stickers on book, use a hair dryer and a blade. I work at a used book store and we take stickers off all the time using this method. Then use goo gone of there is sticky residue left over. Works like a charm!
Night Circus was the book that took me from a casual reader to a book obsessed crazy person 😂
The Graceling series getting the praise it deserves!! Fire is my personal favorite, but seeing these talked about at all warms my heart
Strange the dreamer is one of the best book series I’ve ever read I’m so glad you mentioned it!!
Divine rivals is so so so good, like I’ve read a lot of books this year and loved a lot of books this year but divine rivals still makes me so excited and interested just hearing about it. It stands above the rest for me
I read strange the dreamer this year and omg it's already the best of 2023. I decided to search books which fall into the same vibe or genre. And I ended up here, a booktuber I've already followed! Thank you so much for your recommendation. Now I don't need to be worried about finishing strange the dreamer series and cry for no similar books to read:)
I love all these recs, you’re literally one of the most refreshing booktubers
Your voice is really soothing and you did a great job recommending these books. Thank you!
I love Once Upon A Broken Heart! Can't wait for the 3rd book 🎉
Just started reading the series and so far in love, I’m assuming the prince of hearts is a villain, but I can’t help it, I’m still in love ❤
Absolutely perfect timing
