I’ve never been a fan of zipper Bibles. Mainly because the ones I’ve seen to date have always had a font that is too small for me! But I do like the idea of being able to throw one in a bag without worrying about the pages. Well done Schuyler. A premium zipper Bible with a readable font size. Great unboxing and already looking forward to a full review and comparison! Tim my boy, you are going to be busy!!!!
Thank you So much for the review! You always bring other aspects that many times we don’t see it. And you did it again! It’s so much easier to make a choice when buying a Bible after watching a very good review! 😊 It was nice seeing your wife there with you also!!❤️
Thanks Tim. I could never understand why zippered Bibles seemed to become very rare for a while. I have an Amplified Bible with a zipper and love it. As you said you can take it travelling and not worry so much because the zipper protects the Bible. So I do hope this catches on. Even a larger Bible could be in a zippered cover I think. Not a study Bible but perhaps the full size Quentel? 😊🙏🇦🇺
My first Bible was a white one with a zipper. I loved that Bible! It wasn't real leather, but was some fake leather. The pull tab was a cross, which I thought was awesome! I have no idea why they seemed to stop making these Bibles for a while, but I am happy that Schuyler has decided to make some again!!! I would really like a full size Quentel with a zipper.
Thanks Tim, it looks like a really nice variant of the PSQ. The Imperial Blue with blind stamped cover is what I'd probably choose. The new variant of the Jerusalem cross looks like a more classic, "old school" design too, very nice.
Back in the late 1960's a friend's Bible had a zipper. She told me that once she'd accidently dropped it after a rainstorm and it landed in a shallow puddle. She was really glad that it had that zipper, because it was undamaged by its quick dip.
I just got the NKJV in green. It's a wonderfully constructed Bible. This will be great for hospital, nursing home, and personal visits. I have a PSQ in NASB (blk goat) but I'm always worried about messing up the gilt. No worries with this one. Thanks for the review!
Your videos are phenomenal. Thank you for doing these. I really look forward to receiving mine. I do wonder if the zipper will scratch the page edges upon carelessly opening it
I think this will be huge for Schuyler! Considering pre-ordering the blue with the gold cross, but should probably wait for the NKJV.....so many choices!!
I’ve always liked the concept of a zippered Bible. So many of my Bibles have dinged gilding or bent page corners because they’ll bounce around in my briefcase or I’ll hurriedly shove a bulletin or something into my church Bible. I’ve tried two different zipper Bibles before, ages ago, and the zipper broke quite quickly on one and was really rough on the other. These look nice though, and I’ll be curious to see how they hold up because I might be interested if they end up doing a CSB or NIV.
I love the bookmark idea because I actually have to do mine since I read 3 books at the same time. I am in Psalm, Mathew and Numbers, only if the marker would be larger than the bible. And at the same time I need book markers for the reference at least 3. At least 6 books markers per bible would be awesome.
I have a zippered bible its just a cheap pocket nlt and it has a ribbon. the ribbon doesnt get caught. i just push it with my thumb and then zip. kind of disapointed they didnt include ribbons. im torn between the zippered and the personal sized quintel. i dont know what to do.
I gave away my psq and am thinking of replacing it with a zipper ESV but they are all out😞 There are some for sale under the imperfects but I dunno maybe I should wait till they restock hopefully they plan to
Paste down liner? Didn’t know that when I ordered prior to seeing the video (probably my bad for not paying better attention). Typically not a fan of paste downs due to the stiffness, but maybe that helps provide structure with the zipper? What’s your take on the paste down?
Hello Tim and Becca!!! Fun unboxing. Well done! So much fun seeing all the great new Bibles on the market this year. I am interested in a zippered Bible for my oldest granddaughter and I am considering the one with the gold. cross on the front. I wish that they had this one in purple, but it looks like there are only blue and black versions. What do you think of the gold cross on the cover? Would it likely wear off over time? Would the blind stamp be a better version in your opinion? I confess that I was a little disappointed to see that you were sent the blind stamped version, as I would love to see the gold in a review. Oh, do you know if they will have more colors in this version? Or do they plan to put out other versions in a limited color selection first? Thank you for all your help.
I think it will hold up well. They are planning to expand the line of zippered Bibles, including to other translations, but I do not know exactly what all the color options will be.
Tim. I’m having a hard time finding zipper ESV bibles at Evangelical Bible. Can you help? I only see NASB and KJV when I search. I’ve also written to them and will let you know what I find.
@@timwildsmith If you have other ideas for a favorite zipper Bible, feel free to let me know. I have an ESV camo zipper and KJV faux leather zipper coming from Amazon, and a non-zipper goatskin Legacy in navy on the way. Hard to find cases/covers these days; my ESV study Bible personal size hardcover is very hard to find a cover for. I’m hoping the khaki Zondervan canvas Compass cover I found will fit it when it comes Friday.
Are all imperial blues as dark as this one looks? You did a video of another one and it looked lighter in the video screen shot. I personally would prefer the lighter look.
From Beth at Evangelical Bible: “Thanks for contacting us! … We expect more Zipper Personal Size Quentel ESVs around the end of the year/early next year, and we'll be opening preorders this fall. The Bible’s will be available in Dark Green and British Tan. We're [also] in the midst of working on our search engine.” (In response to my inquiry yesterday.)
Quick question, does it lay flat in Genesis and Revelation. I noticed when you had it laying flat, it looked like it was in Psalms. Thanks for another great review!
I would think the font would have to be slightly smaller than the non-zippered edition. Perhaps you wouldn't mind verifying that the font size is precisely the same? Thanks!
I've been thinking about this since I saw it last night on your unboxing, and can see how prortable a zippered bible would be, but the thing I love about my psq is the gorgeous supple leather, and a zipper psq won't have that softnes of leather with leather liner that we're so used to. Also, I think that the zipper itself will get annoying bcause it's going to have a sort of rough edge and that zip casing standing up would get in the way a bit, so as good as it looks I won't be buyng one. My next psq will be a NASB '95..
I have looked on the Evangelical site and I can’t find the zippered Bible anywhere. Not even any information about it. Also I wondered if you would know I’ve signed up for their email updates but I have never received anything from them. I have to get all my information from you my dear friend.
I was very hyped for this bible and preordered the black without gold day 1. There are some changes that you've revealed that I'm pretty disappointed by. The fact that it isn't edge-lined seems bad given the price. I'm also not a fan of the updated Jerusalem Cross logo embossed on the cover or printed on the spine. I just double-checked and they didn't advertise on their page that it was paste-down. Pictures had the new logo, so that one is on me for not noticing. PSQs aren't exactly very floppy bibles, so the need to go paste-down doesn't quite make sense to me.
For as long as schuyler keeps making only bibles with 28 gms paper, I simply can't justify spending "premium" amounts of money for them. Yes, they have great binding materials, but if you use your bible often, you interact much more with the paper than anything else. 28 just feels plain fragile between the fingers. Beautiful bibles otherwise.

No joke!!
But it is greatly appreciated!
I’m Catholic, but I agree with you about zippered Bibles. They are durable and easy to take with you anywhere. God bless.

Thanks Tim, great to see these new release unboxing videos. Even more fun when it’s a Bible I’ve never seen before. Looking forward to more. 😇
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Thank you Tim. Another great video. I love that Bible.
It’s lovely!!

I think it’s going to be a big win!
I read the title wrong, I thought it said unboxing ALL the new zipper bibles.. was like hey man that was only one! lol
Thanks Tim, it looks like a really nice variant of the PSQ. The Imperial Blue with blind stamped cover is what I'd probably choose. The new variant of the Jerusalem cross looks like a more classic, "old school" design too, very nice.
Yes, the slightly different cross was one of the first things Becca noticed!
Love this concept and seems like the execution has been up to the usual excellent Schuyler quality.
Totally!
I found myself saying Stop! Quit showing me more Bibles I think I must have 😂😂😂
😉

Be neat if they made those bookmarks available seperately in the different finishes so folks could buy more of them.
I was thinking the same thing!

Awesome! Blessings on your ministry, Brent!
Your videos are phenomenal. Thank you for doing these.
I really look forward to receiving mine. I do wonder if the zipper will scratch the page edges upon carelessly opening it
Thank you! I think it has enough clearance to not be an issue.
So cool. Can’t wait to get mine
Yeah!
Wish they made an ESV Imperial Blue zippered Edition
Wow. That looks really nice😍📖
It does!
I think this will be huge for Schuyler! Considering pre-ordering the blue with the gold cross, but should probably wait for the NKJV.....so many choices!!
I agree!
It does look neat. Im waiting for a full yapp PSQ.
YESSS!!!
Me too!!

I think this qualifies as a full yapp. "The forbidden yapp." 😲
Hahaha. Oh yeah!

I think they have more coming later this year.
Are these available for purchase now? Evangelical Bibles website says currently out of stock.
When I looked they were for pre-order!
They have limited amounts of pre-orders of these Bibles. As Tim said, some of the Black Bibles have sold out.
evangelicalbible.com/product-category/schuyler-bibles/schuyler-personal-size-quentel-esv/
that would work well with out door witnessing, protect the edges from the weather.
For sure!
Would this be a god ministry Bible for a Hospice Chaplain?
How does this Bible feel in the hand compared to a normal personal size quentel?!
Great question. I’ll cover this in the full review next week.
Paste down liner? Didn’t know that when I ordered prior to seeing the video (probably my bad for not paying better attention). Typically not a fan of paste downs due to the stiffness, but maybe that helps provide structure with the zipper? What’s your take on the paste down?
I was not expecting it either, but it makes sense given the zipper. I think you want a more structured binding when you have a zipper in the mix.

Their I’ve had 5 or 6 imperial blue goatskin bibles from Schuyler, and there has been some slight variation, but most of them are pretty close.
I throw my Bible in my backpack a lot, and I’m so afraid the pages will get damaged because of the floppy cover. This seems like an awesome solution!
Absolutely!
Do you know where I could find this Bible for much less than the $200? I would absolutely love to make this one my daily carry!
Nope!
Can you post a link to it? Cuz i cant find them on the website
They’re currently sold out. More coming this fall.

Not quite.
This is a sharp Bible
Yes it is!
Is Schuyler going to make zippered Bibles in other versions too - like the NIV?
Yes! KJV and NASB are next.
Whoa- thanks for the quick response!
I would think the font would have to be slightly smaller than the non-zippered edition. Perhaps you wouldn't mind verifying that the font size is precisely the same? Thanks!
Will do.
The zipper and cover look hardy enough for alot of use. I like the blue colour. The Bible looks friendly to use.
Definitely!
Does anyone know when these are going to be available for purchase?
Right now! evangelicalbible.com/product-category/schuyler-bibles/schuyler-personal-size-quentel-esv/
I assume Tim they went with a leather bookmark instead of ribbons? Because a zipper bible with ribbons can be awkward.
Exactly.

It's definitely a DIFFERENT type of Bible than the standard PSQ.

I think you’ll understand when you see it in person. I can see how the edge-lined edition might not have enough structure to support the zipper unit.
Looks like a great Bible to carry. Would love to see it in an NLTred leather edition
That would be cool!
@@timwildsmith red letter too
$200 for a zippered Bible. Wow.
I doubt the zipper impacted the cost as much as the premium paper, leather, and construction.
@@timwildsmith I know. That’s still out of my price range.
Where's the link for this Bible@@timwildsmith
I really hope they don’t release this in the British Tan…because I will want to buy it. 😂
It’s coming in British Tan later this year!
The bookmark is black? It would have been nice if it matched the color of the Bible you buy.
They will send matching ones… I just got a black one because it was available immediately.
