I prefer the standard style.
I currently own an NIV, ESV, NASB and NKJV. Looking forward to getting the CSB PSQ when they release it.

Thanks Tim. The PSQ by Schuyler is amazing. My preference is the Full Yapp edition as it stands out yet remains quite compact. That Marbled Merlot Calfskin looks amazing.
The only further variation that I’m aware is that the KJV is called Personal Sized Canterbury (PSC) and has beautiful drop caps beginning every chapter.

I love the Blue under Gold so beautiful. Wish I’d have know they had the zipper version when I bought my standard yap PSQ 3 years ago as I use that one on the go and keep it in the box to help protect while in my bag/purse/etc.

Hey Brother Tim, if you skin the goat yourself, do you get a discount on the Goat skin Bible? 😃 Those Bible prices are outrageous. I'm poor as unfertilized dirt, so I will have to stick with the imitation leather and paper back Bibles.
I would still go with the standard. I may not be able to afford the ones with the extra yap and zippered bibles is not actually my thing.
Very nice vid! Don't have a PSQ yet -- or, for that matter, *any* Schuyler (I'm working up to it!). More than likely I'd be going with a standard PSQ; haven't subscribed to "full yapp" on any of my Bibles, and I've seen zippers go from extended use over the years to make me question whether I'd want one for a Bible (even a top-quality YKK). Ninety-nine percent of the time I'm taking a Bible anywhere, it's usually in a bag in its own compartment, so a standard PSQ would work just fine.
I WOULD like to see those leather bookmarks (included w/ the Zipper PSQ) made available separately! I've already mentioned my usage of thin cloth bookmarks in times where extra ribbons in a Bible were necessary; those leather ones would be nice as well!

I guess i'm in the minority- I find the full yapps and zippers annoying when I'm trying to read the Bible - esp the beginning and end where the yapp comes up in the way and when reading in bed or in a chair I like to rest it sometimes on my tummy and the bottom yapp annoys me pushing up 😞 but not seems the colors Ilike are only in full yapp! but the appearance of the full yapp is beautiful and the zipper would help with hour I tote Bibles around! for just one choice I'm going with the regular- no yapp to fight or stiff zipper and sides to wrestle!

Great comparison, Tim. Thank you. As always, the full Yapp has my personal preference vote. I love the look and feel of full Yapp Bibles. Unfortunately the 8.5 font size is a deal breaker for my eyes, so I won't be purchasing a PSQ for myself. I am considering a zippered one for my grandson, however. He thinks that a zipper on a Bible is awesome!

You’d be surprised at how legible the typeface is despite its 8.5 size. However if you need the larger font, you need the larger font! 🤓

Great review! My favorite is the NASB full yapp. I've been planning on purchasing a Schuyler Bible. I don't have a premium Bible, but have quite a collection of study and devotion Bibles.
My b'day is coming up. Have to convince my hubby why I need 1 more bible at over $200.00.
Also not sure if I should get PSQ or full size.

I own an RSV Quentel with standard yapp in Marbled Mahogany and an ESV PSQ with standard yapp in British tan, but I think I would trade them both for a zippered RSV PSQ in Marbled Mahogany. ✌️🤓

Yeah, bro I was blown away by it. Longest yapp I’ve ever seen. Man, the psq is the perfect size. I’m like you I love a nice compact Bible. I also prefer single column but the Schuyler textbook is so beautiful that I can deal with the double column format in it. One of the ESV Treveris’ will be my next purchase.

Do you have any trouble turning the pages in the Full Yapp edition? I like to use my thumb to flip through the pages. Does the extra Yapp get in the way of that?

Thanks Tim, I love full yapp. Though I own a standard psq in ESV green goatskin. I note the Jerusalem cross is very different on the zippered psq.

Thanks! I like the look of bookmark a lot, but haven’t used it a ton for it’s intended purpose.

Great video. I just bought my first two Schulyer bibles: a green ESV Treveris and a black NASB PSQ. They are very nice, but for the price I paid, I'm disappointed how much show-through is visible, particularly in the Treveris. However, I have a question for you concerning the binding: neither bible lays flat out of the box. Is this something which will improve with use? Thanks.

Careful when getting the zipper edition. When you unzip it I hear it some how scuffs the bottom up pretty bad. Get the fy

What’s the biggest difference between the psq and personal Canterbury?
Same physical dimensions and overall specs... but the typesetting of the Canterbury has some unique features that are slightly different than the Quentel.
What’s your favorite Tim?
I love this standard NIV sooooo much, but I think I would love it even more if it had a full yapp!

Like full yapp,but zippers not for me.
The Schuyler zipper bibles do not come with a bookmark. I bought two, one for me and my husband, both did not have them. I went online to look at the product description to make sure it came with one before emailing them and it’s not listed. So the Schuyler zipper Bible DOES NOT come with a leather bookmark.

@@timwildsmith I don’t know if they did that for preorders and quit giving out the bookmarks for regular orders. I just wanted you guys to know there’s been some sort of change. I love Evangelical Bibles and don’t want them getting complaints and you give great reviews so I thought you should know as well. I still love my zipper Bible. It’s great for our hiking trips and traveling. Thank you for your review you sold me on it and I got to surprise my husband with it!

No hate for anyone and their choices… but I find zippered quality Bibles to be design blasphemy. Such an ugly, tacky looking attempt at page protection which a decent yapp accomplishes anyway. To me it’s like designing a really stylish smartphone but building it into an ugly carry case which you can’t remove. Sorry to be so negative on this one, just got a lot of feels for this design choice which I thought died after the 90’s, haha.

A zipper deffo takes some getting used to, so I kinda get where you're coming from. Thing for me is: over here in Germany we don't have a premium Bible market. We don't have as many translations and basically NO premium Bible makers. The most "premium" German Bible I was able to find over here was a Lutheran F.C. Thompson chain reference - and it came with a zipper. As for the zipper, I wouldn't chime in calling it "tacky" and rather go for something to Ike "awkward". Though to me a zipper always feels like a foreign object when handling a book, it did kinda grow on me; not to a degree that I would say I "like" the zipper, but I became to tolerate it. The YKK used by Schuyler interests me to some degree, but I'll probably go with the full yapp as soon as they do a decent nonstandard color with silver over blue edges. (He Schuyler: do silver over green edges, please!)
@@DanielSpielmann fair enough to you if you enjoy it. I still stand by my "tacky" description as I specifically feel it cheapens a beautiful product with poor/ugly aesthetic design. That's what tacky is after all!
What ESV Bible has red verse numbers, chapter numbers, and reference numbers, two columns and paragraph format?
This Bible has all of that except the red verse numbers.
@@timwildsmith lol I know. I think the red verse numbers on the paragraph format helps me find them. Are there any like that? I think I've seen a Thomas Nelson NKJV like that but I prefer ESV.
I can’t think of an ESV that has all those exact specs.
