Just watch the keyboard, and consider this is a real piano piece. Only the most elite concert pianists dare play this live. To say it is monstrously difficult is an understatement. So difficult in fact, that Horowitz himself considered it unplayable.
It's definitely a very passionate piece, because it's Godowsky's tribute to Schubert. He makes many variations out of i think Schubert's unfinished symphony's beginning and also throws a little Erlkönig in there. Glad you enjoyed it!
One of my favourites! It was great to see that you enjoyed the piece. I agree - there isn't a dull moment! Godowsky creates such a compelling story that you don't even notice time passing as you listen.
One of my favorite piece, you need to listen to Schubert Unfinished Symphony now. Sawallisch version on youtube is amazing, to me no one has surpassed it, please check it out !! :)
I haven't heard of Godowsky either, Gidi, and I have a Music degree. Nonetheless, it's quite a nice piece, similar in many ways to Rachmaninov. As others have suggested, I expect you'd really enjoy Schubert's Unfinished symphony. As far as I can recall, you've listened to only one piece by Schubert - and it wasn't a piece that I would personally recommend as an introduction to Schubert. Yet you continue to keep up the good work :)
Hi Gidi! What a wonderful piece! Never heard it before. Would love to see your reaction on famous Passacaglia and Fuge BWV582 by J.S. Bach ua-cam.com/video/zzBXZ__LN_M/v-deo.html And it's been a while you reacted to Organ music. I remember you're ejoyed quite much of Toccata and Fugue in Dminor BWV565 . Would be nice to see your reaction on that piece too.
still waiting for you to react to a whole opera, mozart would be heaven, don giovanni, magic flute, clemenza di tito, nozze di figaro... your choice :)

Yo thank you for reacting to this piece, it's one of my most favourite solo piano works of all time, it's so dramatic

Or, if a full-length opera is too long for a reaction video, a one-act opera like Cavelleria Rusticana would be a good choice.
To put it short: This piece is messed up.
check out Franz Liszt: Reminiscenses de Norma
he already did! :)
