This is a really good book. I knew a lot of kids who when they were 8 would make fun of this behaviour. I was friends with someone with Tourettes when I was about 8 and 9. A lot of people made fun of her until she moved school about year after we met. I haven’t seen her since but I’m sure she’s fine.

My tics started around 8 and 9 and some people at my school found it funny or saw it as a game. Some people would laugh, some people would avoid mentioning it at all costs. They tried to trigger my tics or give me new ones and I had my first tic attack in no time. I’m glad people are more aware of things like that now (people might just be more aware at my school but whateveverr).

Hearing the list of the little boy's tics made me start doing them too. :) I compare holding tics in to a conveyor belt, where, if you hold your hand in front of the items coming down the line, and they build up till you let go and everything explodes.

I had someone ask me if I had tourettes one time, I'll never forget, they could tell because they also had it. For some reason my tourettes lies very dormant until I'm trying to learn or focus on something, then it just is like gahh, it made school so difficult.

I find having hiccups really hard and I repeat actions and loud sounds. Sometimes I hit my friends and sometimes I say It’s the chickens mrs tweedy. People question my Tourettes and say that my tics aren’t real because sometimes I have random tics but I have to explain over and over that I have main tics and random tics. I’m only 11. I didn’t tic to much whilst watching this because of your calming voice nd the relaxing music. If you read all of this thank you. Please like to stand up against tics and Tourettes.❤️

I just found you on TikTok and I've been watching some of your vids here on YT. I've read a comment thread of the one where you're reading a story and had a tic attack at the same time and apparently there was a hater in the comments. All the comments of that person are deleted now so I couldn't read them, but I read the other people's replies and your replies to him. I hope you learn to ignore those trolls and haters, please, instead of trying to argue with them, because they're ignorants and have no brain, and they won't want to understand anything you say to them.
You do you girl and never forget that people love you for the way you are, I didn't start to follow you because of your condition but because of your personality. Please don't let the haters bring you down.
Sorry for the long text (if you read this).

I truly believe that I have mental ticks. I don't have anything physical, but I do stammer sometimes and get stuck shen speaking and it really frustrates me. It started happening while I was already in my 20s and idk what it is. I've expressed concern to my doctor, but he has never tested anything or prescribed anything and I don't think he takes me seriously, but he doesn't know what it's like in my head and it's really hard to describe to someone who has never experienced anything similar. I hate going to the doctor for anything, so why would I make this up? I can't prove to you that my brain is weird.

the book was actually great - need to make sure my library has it. but evie you yourself are really the best possible ambassador for the condition through your self-acceptance & amazing sense of humor, the way you & also your family seem to find your infinite surprises more delightful than anything else. like you're an unintentional jokester. the wordplay that tics out is especially fascinating & funny, where it fills in the blanks with whatever completes a pattern. these are the kinds of things i often impulsively think, creating a private amusement, but your tics just shamelessly spit them out, & i think that's awesome. somehow even though I don't have tourette's, my sense of humor feels less alone & weird. does that make any sense? i really love your content, persistence, education, & attitude. I'm sure it's harder to live with than you let on, but just so you know, what you do let on is totally lovable & succeeeds in demystifying fnd/tourette's, making it easier to see the unique individual behind the tics in anyone. thank you for being!! 💚💙💜

This is random but I was lowkey having a panic attack tonight and watching this video calmed me down tremendously. I'm still kinda panicky, but not so much as before. Thank you ❤

That way of describing how holding in tics feels was very interesting. I never really understood before when you said it was very uncomfortable to hold them in ❤

You’re so adorable...also so brave for making these videos to educate and help others understand better what it’s like to have Tourette’s. I wish I would have been as brave as you about my struggles as a teen. I had psoriasis and never wore shorts or went swimming for an entire summer in AZ (120 degree heat) bc I didn’t want anyone to see it. It was Hell (literally lol). I feel like UA-cam and brave people such as yourself are tearing down societal walls and bringing people together. Much love and hugs from CA, USA

I feel the same as Alfie when I try to hold my tics in. I always try to hold them in near my family. That’s why I am scared to spend time with them. It’s super uncomfortable. It makes me feel jittery and super anxious. 😟 I plan on telling my family about my tics soon so hopefully I don’t have to feel like this around them anymore :)

I’ve been developing new tics for the last probably 3 months now. I’ve always had tics (as long as I can remember) especially ones like the mental tics. Which I didn’t know existed until legit right now. I make draw out shapes in my head over and over but then I feel my body starting to move along with that shape. It could be in my arms or anything, but now I’ve been having ones like facial and vocal tics. But my mom doesn’t believe me anymore and writes it off as me being dramatic or making it up. She won’t let me go see anyone because of this so I’ve just been struggling alone. I appreciate your videos so much. Thank you for being there for me! 💜
