Seems like a bunch of people took it as an instruction manual instead of a warning.

@hellepost1439 yes. And THT was published *the next year*
I read 1984 in grade 8 *in 1984*, then as a freshman in high school I read THT. They're both being used by the incoming as instruction.

It’s crazy that so many of us were pointing to this book when TP took office the first time, and they called us irrational. But look at the birth rates world wide

In the book, the Scramble game has a deeper meaning, women aren't supposed to be able to read or right. If they already knew how, they should forget. Playing Scrabble with her keeps her ability to write intact.

The most horrifying part of this show is how many of these things are actually happening right now. In afghanistan, women are banned from parks, from speaking in public, banned from education, driving, and must be covered head to toe. Like we get mocked or called crazy for being afraid of this stuff but its like.....some of it's actually happening, and no one sees it as a problem.
Women have always been the last group of people to have their human rights recognized.

This book should be required reading in every school. Specifically, history classes.

Luckily in the movie she is brought to a trailer in some remote place and waits to have her baby. Not only is this type of society in general scary but the idea that they split apart families and turned everyone into slaves then one of there ideas of public punishment was getting a bunch of handmades together to rip a guy apart turning them into animals.
