Flew the Foxbat a few weeks ago at YCAB, love at first flight, great STOL performance, outstanding viz & no vices, a dream to fly. Look forward to flying it more than the Airbus.
Hi Spencer - light aircraft perform better in crosswind landings with less or no flap down. This was a very windy crosswind day, so no flap was used. Normally I put down stage one flap on base leg, then full flap on final approach.
Range depends on headwind/tailwind, aircraft speed (faster uses more fuel) etc etc. Typically will fly for 5 hours plus half hour safety reserve That's around 500 nautical miles/850 kilometres in still air
Hi MrBOB39 - aircraft duration range is about 6.5 hours. Depends on wind what distance range. Work on maybe 500-600 nautical miles (925-1110 kilometres). Uses 95+ octane unleaded or 100LL avgas. Take off & landing speed about 40 knots (70-75 km/h). For full details see our website
Hi Libyan Champ - in Australia, the plane costs around A$100,000 including taxes, registration etc. Oil & filter changes are needed every 50 hours flying - oil & filter costs about A$65-75. Hangar costs are very variable, depending on the location of the airfield. In Australia, for a medium airport, hangar space would be around A$7,500-A$10,000 a year. For hangar space at a small airfield, maybe A$1,000 a year or less.
The sound is pretty like most other Rotax 912 series engines. I wear ANR headsets, so I don't hear much noise anyway. Comments on our DVD videos have requested we mute the engine noise because (feedback says) people find it distracting. So I guess we put some music over so it isn't just silent.
Hi Mr Techman - Foxbat get used in very varying amounts. Typical recreational pilot flies maybe 100 hours a year. Some owners use them for farm work. The highest time Foxbat in Australia has over 6,000 hours flying in under 6 years! Used values reflect condition - cheapest second hand maybe around A$65,000. A good one might be closer to A$85,000-A$90,000
Hi emp29 - yes, there are 2 throttles. One on left side by hip for pilot. One on right side for co-pilot. Aircraft with Cessna-style control yokes instead of stick have centre T-throttle between seats.
Hello Peter! What is your experience/what's the limit, when side-slipping this aircraft.. What speed and how hard can you bank it in the sideslip without being nervous for the structure/stalling. And how will it sideslip with full flap ? Would be great to see a video demonstrating short field landings at steep descents on idle. Thanks for your reply.
Hi falcon2288 - Normal approach speed of 45-50 knots with full flap will give quite a steep approach - around 650 feet a minute descent. OK to slip if needed - the best speeds for side-slipping are 45-55 knots with or without flap; this will give descent rates of 1,000 feet a minute and more. I have used full control deflections left and right for side slipping without any issues with stalling. However, to re-assure yourself, best to climb up to 3000+ feet, slow to 50-55 knots and try slipping, a little at first, then gradually more and more. Watch out for side-slipping video coming….

Isn't that song/music, Neil Diamond? Hey, that's "old person's" music!! And, I'm one "of them", so I really like it! :-) The aircraft stuff is OK, too. Thanks, N-6395T
How much would it cost to buy this plane, hanger it, and do oil changes, check ups and gas. How much would you estimate it would cost overall for a year...?
'G' forces in these planes are very low. Personally, I think they are not likely to make you sick in normal conditions. And the more you fly the less you notice the movement and even start to enjoy it - it's very addictive! Start flying on low-wind days with a gentle pilot/instructor & build up.
Hi William - no need for attitude indicator/artificial horizon. These aircraft are limited to fly only in good visibility in daytime. Best attitude indicators are your eyes! Or maybe you said ALTITUDE? Sorry - altitude is top centre.
Not need to be rich to fly on a ultralight like this (same cost new as a medium car), im' myself mecanic and ultralight pilot, drive a very small car, but fly my own ultralight..
awesome looking at the foxbat now, very nice little plane,
Great video!
On a crazy day, I can watch this video and become very relaxes. Thank you for making it and enjoy your flying.

Nice video, dude! Probably the best inflight video I've ever seen. Excellent quality! I hope mine are half as good as yours!
Great to see a nice local flight video
Brilliant Soundtrack :)
Hi silver this is a fantastic film, clear film and we can really see your good work during the flight.
Sincerely yours, Lars Denmark

G'day Ben, nice to see you on here. I want to buy one as well!
Bleech
very good, and the subject of Skybird, ideal for the soundtrack.
awesome wish i had one
great video!
PERFECT MUSIC!!
Cost of an A22LS Foxbat in Australia is around AU$100,000 ready to fly away with a radio, tax included.

I appreciate the commentary
That is cool!!
beautifull video.

We've sold about 115 in Australia over 8 years or so. Used prices vary between around A$60,000 and A$110,000

Neil Diamond background. Great choice.
Control stick is easy - just placed in the centre instead of between your knees. Very easy!
Seems hard to control, wird joystik :D
great video,,, What Camera are u using.. Cheers
thanks.. i went for the contour +2
Maneiro!

The camera is a GoPro Hero, suction mounted on the bulkhead behind the pilot.
VNE on the A22LS is 120 knots

This plane is nice to fly. It`s great...
At home I´m taking off and land on my 200 meter grass strip...lol .
Isn't that song/music, Neil Diamond? Hey, that's "old person's" music!! And, I'm one "of them", so I really like it! :-) The aircraft stuff is OK, too. Thanks, N-6395T
The gauge on the right of the altimeter is always in the yellow band, is it normal?
How much would it cost to buy this plane, hanger it, and do oil changes, check ups and gas. How much would you estimate it would cost overall for a year...?
flaps before landing?
no altitude indicator?
Do these planes sell used a lot and if the do how much do they sell for used.
No auto pilot on this aircraft but available as options on new aircraft

With these small planes, are they limited to how high they can go by the FAA ?
I don't know in USA. In Australia LSA planes are limited to 10,000 feet. They need a transponder over 8,500 feet.
Peter Harlow Would love to have one.
So what is range and speed abilities of this in the air.
It uses normal un-leaded gas.. Yes.
On ground it is supposed to be very quick
What does it sound like? I don't watch airplane videos for the music
Hi Caleidus - I can assure you I'm not George Bush. I'm 6'2" and 90kgs. I don't look like I just got off my horse and I don't wear a Texan hat....
1000´ vert speed gr8
Looks a bit twitchy. I hope the controls aren't as fickle as they look.

He looks like George Bush...
George Bush flies?
...

Sounds like something George Bush would say.
i made a vedio of my mates foxbat takeing off and landing not as good as use left my gopro at home son fone just had to do pls watch :D
Nice sound track ! NOT
Nice video, but whats with the gay ass music LOL ???
