Shouldn't have been discontinued. If it was caused by low demand, I bet a lot of musicians didn't know about its existence or didn't know what that pedal was about. If it was caused by lack of rare components, the Way Huge department should do a second version using new components. I know it may sound slightly different, but some people would want it anyway.
Great demo! Just grabbed one, randomly, from a store sale. Lots of fun!! No idea what differs between a good or bad ring modulator, but i like this one.
The blend knob is nothing unique it's very common on a Ring Modulator! If this RM would had a pitch detection circuit had been much more Useful! Anyway this is a cool pedal!
This is great. I own an old EHX ring modulator and I combine that thing with some other stuff and I LOVE what it's doing. But seeing this Way Huge pedal makes me wanna trade my EHX with the Ring Worm Modulator. Unfortunately, this pedal has taken out of production. I understand. In all my life I never met another guitar player with a ring modulator. Most guitarists just don't know what to do with it. :-)
Alanko Donnet Correct, you can shut off one speaker or take out one headphone and hear the modulated signal in one and the normal fuzzy distortion signal in the other.
Great Pedal, but for the video you must have used either a different power source or a noise gate. The RM is so sensitive that when switched on it modulates even the static noise that your instrument emits. In other words, the second this thing is on (with a VERY loud click, btw) it turns the noise of your instrument into a static whistling tone - depending on your settings, even a moving whistle... Not really ideal! Also there quite a bit of noise once it's turned on. The blend knob is also not linear, anything beyond one 'o' clock will effectively have eliminated the dry signal. At around 9 'o' clock you're at 50/50. Hard to get the balance right. So, good ideas, but a lot of details are just not working right. Especially in terms of noise, this video must have been edited a lot! Which is unfair, I think.
My buddy bought one... it was ultra sensitive and like you said, had a constant ring mod effect on even without playing notes. Could be cool, but it's most likely unusable.
I don't think I have the issues you describe with mine,...you possibly have a defective product....it happenes. Your blend knob isn't working for sure. I pulsed the expression input so that the dry signal would be even more pronounced and I would lose it at about 3 o'clock, which is ok.
What is happening at 4:45? Is it starting to oscillate? I really want to figure out how to get that/those sound/tones for a track! Is it specific to the step mode on the ringworm or can I get it to happen with another ring mod?
It has a low frequency oscillator with a sample and hold function modulating it. This is a fairly unique function to the ring worm. You can get a similar sound from the zvex ringtone
i love the opening bit thats basically saying “YES this is a ring mod BUT we made one you can actually make music with!” First person who brings up Incubus has to delete their account.
I wonder how long those 2 flimsy trim pots will last. Hit them just right with the toe of a boot and the shafts will break. I guess it will be ok if you play barefoot. Just apply Lamisil or Desenex to your foot first. :)

Just found one of these at a pawn shop for $15! It even had the ac adapter!
Always dreaming of this happening
@@tafilmmaker so agree. Someday!
Damn!! 🤯😄 A rare win!
Dude! Last week I got a script phase 100 the same way. I do have an inside man at the shop, but we were both absolutely blown away!
post your address
This video makes sense of why ring mods have ever been popular. I've never gotten sounds this cool out of mine.
And then...you know when Joe B funks on one....ua-cam.com/video/xi5v3NrgSLE/v-deo.html
Best demo on UA-cam of this pedal

its a standard ring mod whats special?
@@mrkrupp0 Blend Knob
This is an, 'always on' pedal for me...
i like using it with that line of fuzz following your signal good for a70s kind of sabbath sound
I love you
This "orange" model has been discontinued but it's back in purple. And sounds just as cool.
I have one of these, got it several years ago. Love It! One of my favorites.
wow way huge is putting out some great pedals very unique
never quite understood what a ring modulator did. total psychedelic fuzz status right here. groovy.
Gosh !!!! Great pedal, Way huge is an authentic innovator !

@JimDunlop... Please bring back the Ringworm!!

You want the Vitruvian Mod...

“Hey ringworm…” -Jim Carrey. Thanks for the info, gonna grab one ASAP
some of the best pedal guitar videos on the boob tube. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure the blend knob doesn't make it unique. Doesn't the MoogerFooger ring modulator have a mix knob which is basically the same thing?
I'm pretty sure most ring modulators do. It's a fairly standard feature. They may accomplish it in a nonstandard way, but its still not that unique
Jesse isn’t that what your momma said to your poppa?
the thing that makes this unique is all the different waveforms id say
I love this pedal It is great and unique Reissue it exactly as this Thanks
I think the solo from "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath has a some sort of ring modulator on it.
It does.
doctorgone no it has an octave fuzz i thought that was a ring but is an octave fuzz
Alonso Miranda
Nah, it was an outboard ring modulation unit blended 50%.
I wish Hendrix got a hold of one of these!
Alanko Donnet

Please bring this back
Great for ambient or drone music.
Absolutely sweet!
Great demo! Thank you
Bells baby, bells! Sounds beautiful.
I buy one to play The Mars Volta style music. Just awesome pedal!
Its that whats going on the Roulette Dares intro?
@@felvte370 I think Omar uses a Moog Ring Modulator, but Huge does the same ring tone
@@RafaelRechia do you still use it? I never was a big pedal guy but after listening to omar I've been getting the itch lol

in the video you conected the ring worm in the input of amp or in the effect loops ?
Great question. Did you ever get an answer ? Did you ever get this pedal ? I'd like to know the answer to your question. Considering one.

Yep, too bad. The video demo is very misleading.
William Chambers was he using an isolated power supply or a one spot?
Funny how its been two years and Jim hasnt replied. Must be counting his stacks out in the shed :(

This video does not do this pedal justice... It is without a doubt the weirdest pedal I have.
I could do so much with this, wow.
i love the opening bit thats basically saying “YES this is a ring mod BUT we made one you can actually make music with!” First person who brings up Incubus has to delete their account.
can’t find any of these online, anyone know any good substitutes?
I think it would be a blast used in conjunction with my Conquistador! Right?? Or maybe too much..? Lol.
The tool to use if you want to make your guitar sound like early-period Weather Report.
The thing is that this amazing pedal is no longer in the market.. I can't find it anywhere 😐
Like the arpanoid
What a fun pedal. Roger Waters wishes he had this at Pompei back in the day!
