I’m really sad you didn’t include the Swollen Pickle if only so you could call it a “big dill”
😑
It’s a wonderful pedal, the only one of these I have...
yessssssss
@@graxjpg i only have the green rhino but the swollen pickle is my favorite
I love the Swollen pickle so much. If you smack the front of it real hard with another drive it does this wacky spongey thing that I just adore.
Swollen Pickle is my only Way Huge pedal and I love the thing, my favorite fuzz I have.
Please tell me how to set it! Swollen Pickle
I messed with the trim pots, didn't really know what i was doing. I found that if I run the loudness any higher than 2, its blaringly loud. Been using it into a clean amp
I have a question which is better, the green rhino or the conspiracy theory? For me they both sound very good, could you help me decide on one?
@@babyBmaj if you want a nice fuzz, no scoop or crunch, filter at mid, sustain all the way
same! I love the Swollen Pickle cause it melts your face off with it's blistering fuzz!!!
I have this fuzz it never leaves my rig
And now I want to know what a Metal Klon would sound like. Get on it.
Transparent?
It's a metalzone with mid-range
Depends on whether you get the black or the charcoal box. They’re totally different circuits. Really
Metal zone keeley modded...... secret is out!
Metal, but subtle?
Now I can't stop thinking about what the Way Huge "effect pedal" does
Probably nothing. Just an empty box...
@@bipbipletucha Not true, they are prototype circuits. I have one! Not remotely famous, but I went to a Way Huge Clinic and one was for sale
@@joeyowen404 so what does it do? The suspense is killing me
It's a repackaged Saucy Box. There's another more recent iteration called "effects pedal" that's just a repackaged Swollen Pickle, but Josh is holding the Saucy Box (3 knobs, no mini pots)
The swollen pickle is one of the best fuzzes in the market, it can sit pretty well on rhythm rock or it can do the glitchy fuzz as well!
Can't agree more, friend got one on his board and I duth coveted that fuzz...
+1 to swollen pickle love. And the way the LED burns my retinas with the light of a thousand suns
Is that based off a big muff, but with more tonal options?
It's a staple on my board and an essential for when I switch to bass.
@@BlueBarrier782 Yup!
I absolutely love Way Huge pedals! I worked for a store that sold Dunlop and we were very happy when George Tripps started working with them. I bought the very first Red Llama when we got one in and fell in love with the entire line. Dozen of their pedals and counting
man Way Huge pedals I love them soo much: the tight switch button, big smooth knobs, thicc sound. I’m so glad this brand is alive
Overdrives are my favorite pedals, I just love them. The purple platypus was the one that caught my attention and the thing sounds killer.
I have a question which is better, the green rhino or the conspiracy theory? For me they both sound very good, could you help me decide on one?
I just added a switch to my PP to turn the octave on and off and it became really versatile and cool
I love my Green Rhino Mkiv, which I feel does not get enough mention, a little smaller and the updated 100hz
and 500hz make it SO versatile. Even at noon the tone is different than the classic setting...basically making it two different “ts” tones! Finally, the use of a carbon battery does something magical if you can try it. And now I need a ringworm, thanks Josh! Lol
Gotta shout out to Craig Anderton who made the tube sound fuzz. The red llama is a barely altered tube sound fuzz circuit. It was (not saying stolen) copied. Big name in DIY. Craig Anderton deserves a chapter in pedal history.
Blaze Infernus Twat !
Just want to say that I love these videos so much. They make me feel all warm and (octave)fuzzy.
Your reverence for other pedal makers is inspiring.
Cool stuff! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and respect to others!
Thanks for another wonderful ep. I have the Pork and Pickle Overdrive & Fuzz for Bass and it's a beast of a pedal. I record with it all the time and have it next to a ABY pedal so I have a clean and fuzz option for each take, which is useful when ya not sure how much fuzz you want when tracking. After watching this ep, I am keen to get my hands on the Purple Platypus because it sounds magnificent.
You have seriously educated and aided me in finding a new sound- thankyou sir!
Because of your sarcasm, I seriously cannot tell if the blue hippo is (or isn’t) based on a CE-2
What kind of circuit is it then if it's not based on the CE-2?
He probably would've told us what it's actually based on if it wasn't, so I think it's based on the ce-2.
I don't think that was Josh's signature sarcasm, I think he was being serious this time
@@BruceKnouseMusic Exactly. It seemed like this was a sarcasm within a sarcasm, so, like a double sarcasm?
Maybe it’s based on the Ce-1 ???
I think this was one of the best episodes in the vlog, informative and hilarious!
I love JHS!!
you always know just what to play to accentuate the character of different pedals. Rock on, Josh!
I love the Ringworm, I prefer using the lower frequencies with the blend at about 11 o'clock. Adds a lot of texture, like you said. Great, great pedal. You get the most usable sounds compared to other ring modular type pedals, in my opinion.
I love Way Huge so much I have 11 dirt pedals from them. I even went to the trouble of getting hold of a red and a blue Drive (aka Geisha). I love the Havalina because it is weirdly touch sensitive and organic...and I say touch sensitive rather than volume sensitive advisedly. It's weird.....you know :-). I love the Pork Loin for the mix and the Saucy Box because the mix is more straightforward to get at....if you get me. I love the Fat Sandwich for it's fine grained high gain shenanigans that still cleans up a treat. The 'Geisha' has all but taken over from the Barber Gain Changer as my all-time favourite drive pedal. I think if I were out and about again I would happily have a board with two - minimum gain for slightly hairy boost and 3.00 o'clock for creamy leads. I love everything about 'em.
......... really cool enclosures too.
You nailed Guanacos, that's exactly how it sounds in spanish.
I was about to comment the exact thing. Literally, every word JAJAJAAA
Yup! To both of you hahaha
I’ve had a Way Huge Camel Toe pedal for almost 3 yrs! Just started using and I’m blown away!! With a chorus and delay, it goes into Gilmore/ EJ territory and without I can cover some 90’s/Grunge covers!! Absolutely awesome!!!
YES! I honestly fist-bumped the air when I saw the Havalina! I have it myself and always wanted a ToneBender and I just adore the thing! So fun to use - and stacks really well with a light OD after to make it sound HUGE
Hope there gonna be a Chase Bliss episode one day.
Got my first Way Huge, Conquistador and it’s a great fuzz. Not sure why it got discontinued?
Geeze man what are you trying to do. CB pedals don't need inflating any more in price. #jhscurse
@@TheMorphicResident Same here. It's a great gated fuzz. I kept waiting for it to pop up in this video.
It would blow the JHS show budget
The supa puss is immaculate. Having an analog delay with a tap tempo is a feature I never knew I wanted. But here we are.
MXR carbon copy deluxe
Saint Rhoads The CCD is nice but it’s difficult to get the mix right when playing live. I have it and like the sound but it’s been sitting since about the first week I got it. YMMV
I agree. The repeats are really lo-fi but that's part of the magic - you can create nostalgic sci-fi sounds really easily. And the tap and layout make it very intuitive to tweak on the fly.
+1 on the Supa Puss. I have a JHS Panther V.1 but it's YUGE so when I want analog delay w/tap, subdivisions, ext-in, etc without taking up 1/2 my board, I go with the Puss
Delays galore.
I hear the Supa Puss has a terrible issue of feedback(?) after 9 o clock or something. Actual poor design. Count me out.
Your videos always make my day better. Thank you.
I wish the Saucy Box had gotten a mention. Because I love it but also would love to know what it’s based on.
Six months ago, before I started binging these videos - wouldn’t have understood your t-shirt. Today - hilarious!
I tried once a MkI Saffron Squeeze from a friend, and I still think of It as the best sounding, high quality, guitar signal -friendly compressor pedal, great work mr Tripps!
Hey Josh, please do an episode about the most expensive pedal you've ever owned and what's the budget alternative to them.
Good idea. I think the most expensive pedal he owned was the Octogonapus Omnibombulator fuzz wah octave. It cost around 10-15k.
He does have a Klon with a serial number of 2... the builder kept the original so I would think it’s gotta be worth a bit more than and average Klon.
@@ericcarpenter3263 i slept with your grandma, Karen Carpenter
He's lucky the police don't come and steal everything he has... Alabama...
Excellent video. I am so glad that you featured the Havalina. I never see it on any list of best fuzzes, or even best fuzzes by Way Huge, but it is an amazing pedal. One of my favorite musical experiences was hooking this up to a ZT lunchbox amp, setting the ZT under the entrance to my attic, cranking both the pedal and the amp as far as they would go, and driving out a raccoon that had decided to make its home up there. However, his absence was temporary, as I think he also appreciated the throaty majesty of the Havalina.
My Green Rhino Mk II was a holy grail find for me. After years of using Boss Yellow OD pedals and other similar mid-bump bass-cut pedals, all I wanted was something that just sounded exactly like my amp but with more drive. Even though it's based on the mid-humpy Tube Screamer, the extra bass control allows me to dial in a very transparent tone.Have yet to try any OD pedal that matches it for just sounding like my overdriven amp with zero tonal colouring.
I love your channel so much dude. I've learned so much!
Great video. I have owned a bunch of Way Huge pedals. I used to use my Swollen Pickle Mk2 a lot. I used to have a Green Rhino, that's a real nice overdrive.
The ones I currently use the most are the Saffron Squeeze compressor, the Conspiracy Theory overdrive and the Conquistador fuzz. I've still got a few others but those three are ones I'm playing through lately.
And though I haven't had occasion to use it in a while, my Pork Loin is just an amazing overdrive.
have always wanted to try some way huge pedals ! this has definitely got a few on my reverb watch list now
I'm a fan of the Red Llama. I remember Tripps being on the Andertons channel and Lee calling the Red Llama a "player's pedal" cos it's hard to dial in and not for beginners. Jeorge didn't seem to appreciate that very much, but he stayed polite about it.
The Supa Puss is also amazing. My fave analog delay.
Recently acquired a Purple Platypus for a steal on Reverb! Awesome pedal, inspires a very particular playing style. I find it works best into an already dirty amp, makes for some really unique lead/heavy rhythm tones!

I’ve been a fan of joerge Tripp & Way Huge since he joined MXR/Dunlop... My Way Huge Swollen Pickle! Totally underrated, and doesn’t get used as often as I’d like because IT’S A BEAST!! And not always tameable... I’m talking about the phattest fuzz.. Plus I’ve had a Green Rhino on my board for... 8 years? Final, maybe getting overthrown by the Golden Boy.
I totally love this videos!! Excellent content, great playing .... love it!!!
That Purple Platypus is one of my TOP Favorite pedals on my board AND I make it work for Metal.
Soooo stoked he re-issued this!
What about the Conquistador?? That one might be relatively newish, but it tears it up in the realm of fuzz, and Velcro- fuzz in particular!
I have 6 WH pedals, all in a row. Because of the top mounted Jack's, they go flush side-by-side with no gaps in-between.
They actually take up less real estate than equivalent boss pedals - and they look killer, all im a neat row like that, each withntheir skater-cool colour vibe.
love Way Huge pedals. Blue Hippo is my favorite. And I think its awesome you mentioned the Havalina Fuzz. Its very underrated
Red Llama is my favourite drive ever. ALWAYS stays on. Adds a certain shrubbery magic to the tone.
Shrubbery magic...I like that. Very well.
Nice video! What patch cables are you using? I like the way they look (and the power cables too).
That end bit about the switch was cool.
Great episode Josh, I've always been a fan of Way Huge and the names of his pedals, Piercing Moose come on. I currently have the Pork loin on my board and I love it. Favorite of the show would be the Ringworm.
Love this . Big fan of way huge . have a couple, need the rest of them !Green Rhino is my fav ..."always on"
My favorite Way Huge pedal is the Pork N Pickle. My favorite from this video was the Purple Platypus. Nice sounds, not bored anymore Josh. Thanks!
between the time you played the purple platypus and the end of the video i bought one.... sooo favourite sound.... and i have enjoyed using a pork loin and a saucy box. Way Huge is pretty dreamy stuff
I bought a couple of Way Huge pedals relatively early on in their return, and despite daydreaming about some, haven't bought any more since, at least not yet! The Pork Loin is by far the one I've use the most, but branched out about as much as possible with my second purchase, which was the Ringworm. The rhythmic effects in some modes made that stand out to me as the ring mod to try, and I was kind of delighted to see it in the video! A friend who took audio production class with me bought the Pickle around the time I got the Pork Loin, back when there were just those and the Fat Sandwich, probably. The Aqua or Supa Puss are the ones I've most daydreamed about getting, but a fuzz or modulation pedal would be great too. No, I didn't exactly say which was my favorite though!
My favorite way huge has to be the Fat Sandwich. Great Distortion pedal that responds so well to dynamic playing. In addition to the volume, saturation and tone, you have additional presence and resonance controls, as well as internal controls inside, allowing you to fine tune the curve and sustain.
I’ve never been a Wilco fan but Jeff Tweety used to live in my neighborhood. It was when his kid was young, so I would see him at the park sometimes. His son had a Beatles cover band. They were really good.
The Red Llama paired with a Strat or Tele is just pure heaven. It will always be on my board....never to be replaced
I love the doubleland special, however because of you I broke out the Boss MT-2 AND I PUT IT AFTER MY SWOLLEN PICKLE......OMG TALKING bout sweet ass tones with my strat and dsl40c. my amount ate that shit up. Thanks for making me take another look at it.
I recently put together a new little pedal board intending to keep it fairly simple but ended up with a loop for two distinct channels & 8 (EIGHT!) distortion, overdrive or fuzz pedals & nothing else... My favorite "fuzz" tone is the the Way Huge Camel Toe... turn every tone/frequency knob all the way down & it's just enough massive amount of volume & overdrive to get me to MY perfect level of fuzz. The Green Rhino is amazing & my favorite OD before the Conspiracy Theory OD came out now the Conspiracy Theory is my absolute favorite.
Hey Josh! Can you do a History of Leslie-style rotary speakers and/or your favorite rotary pedals?
Love his vids, straight to the point!
Josh Wilco is my second favorite Wilco album as well. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say your favorite is “Being There”. My #1 is Sky Blue Sky
Finally! I have trying to get someone to confirm the Havalina is a tone bender for years...been on my board for 4 years but I have been using a Muffeletta lately in the fuzz hole.
I have the purple Ring Worm, love it so much! Also the Havalina and Saffron Squeeze. Wilco The Album is great, I just loaded up on Wilco via Bandcamp on June 19th when Bandcamp was donating profits and Wilco donated all profits as well!
Just became a patron. Much love. Id join the next tier too, the builder tier
Pork Loin has lived on my board for a long long time. Just a great warm overdrive.
I have an original Purple Platypus that I got back in the mid-90s to use with a specific band I was in at the time. At the lowest drive setting, you can get some quirky fake sitar sounds (treble strings), and kind of a broken speaker sound with full chords.
Hey Josh...... I discovered Wilco practically with "Wilco The Album" . I love them and I think One Wing is one of their best piece. Great lyrics, great guitars, etc. Anyway I just bought the Atreides by Way Huge. Thank you for the tip (I know it's not on this video). Hugs form Sardinia.
"get jiggy with it or something I heard the kids say" .... Ya those kids are old now too
I remember that saying from the early 80's in Oakland, lols.
I love JHS for many reasons but his love and passion is #1! This terrific human loves his job!
HUGE fan of the Saffron Squeeze myself - most musical guitar compressor I've ever encountered!
Been debating on it. Glad to hear quite a few people mention it.
Oh really??! Damn! I cheaped out n got an mxr instead. Now I wish I'd paid the extra $70 (AUD). Cos I've got a neat line of 6 way huge pedals on my board. They look awesome all in a row, flush side-by-side the to the top-mounted jacks.
Waited so long for this episode. Love the way huge. Swollen pickel makes me smile to play around with it. Ringworm is great too. Super puss is outstanding with the time sequencer. Love your Show josh. Why no bike Shirt this time?
Great job Josh. Some of the best WH pedals out there.
Thank you for understanding Josh. Double over extra underrated is always best.
The Havalina was on sale at Sweetwater fro $50. Best impulse buy I ever made. Love that pedal.
I found a guy in the city selling a Way Huge Red Llama and an Angry Troll. I'd been wanting to try Way Huge for a while, so I bought 'em. Sent the Red Llama to my buddy in NYC for his birthday and use the Angry troll with guitar AND bass. Love it (and my buddy loves the Red Llama).
Then I found a Purple Platypus in a music shop near my house and bought it after hearing some UA-cam demos.
I'm now officially in love with Way Huge pedals!
I find one thing in common amongst those who under-appreciate 'Wilco'. They have all heard Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
I loved A.M. But when I heard YHF, I wanted to open my veins deep and wide. I don't even give it enough thought to call it bad - I just wanted to kill myself those two times I tracked it.
Wilco is amazing
Wait people dislike Yankee Hotel Foxtrot? That's their best record! I'm very confused now
Robert Newby who would under appreciate Wilco, man, one of the best bands on the planet and getting better.
Purple platypus is on my board as we speak. So cool. Pushing it into drive is great, fuzzing into it, also great. It’s sick!
'Cos you look bored and you need something to do' I'm sat in hospital at 7:45 p.m. just waiting until tomorrow so I can get a scan. You're saving me ❤
Would be cool to see recreations of all of your old boards throughout the years
I currently only own one Way Huge pedal but it was a limited run. The Saucy Box HC (hard clipping) overdrive. Was limited to 500 units. Regular Saucy Box is soft clipping. Still not sure if the Saucy Box is actually bases on something else or if it is its own thing. I've actually been running it as my boost. Love it. Always on
The analog weirding machine (synth fuzz thing) is my fav. I know it came out after this video did.
Surprised the Swollen Pickle wasn't on there. I have the Green Rhino, Red Lama,Swollen Pickle,Blue Hippo, and Angry Troll. Always wanted the Aqua Puss. Great show
My favorite Way Huge pedal is hands down the Pork loin. The conquistador is a close second.
The swollen pickle is my fuzz of choice. Discovered it from Frank Iero talking about it years ago. Also love the blue hippo
Surprised you didn't like the Swollen Pickle or the Fat Sandwich.
They're easily my favorite WH pedals because of how versatile they are. Huge range of tones.
I have that Anniversary Llama. Shout-out to Dunlop tone shop for getting me a replacement knob when mine had an unfortunate break! Was having a low-key panic attack about it because it's my favorite
Excellent Wilco, album.Josh you have fantastic taste, man.Hello from Alabama.
Love my havalina, although I feel it’s almost more of a distortion until you crank the fuzz the all the way. I run the havalina in about 90% of the time. The Havalina into the Swollen pickle destroys, it’s my go to for fuzz leads.
Saucy Box! I play that and the HC version. Great boxes!
I love way huge, i sold a havalina a year ago and it was a terrible mistake. The saucy box hc is a fantastic pedal it is comonly called the brown sauce overdrive 😂
Great video. Love way huge. Can you do an episode on Lovepedal? 😀
I'm on my second Swollen Pickle, and I got the Ringworm almost immediately after seeing this, HOLY SHIT! Its more like a synth ring mod than a Gonk, insane! I like the Reissue purple too...
My favorite Way Huge Pedal is Pork Loin: sweet British sound, perfect for guitars or basses.
Yeah ! Jenny Lee Lindberg uses it and it's awesome coupled with her rickenbaker.
I agree! I have it always on in my signal!
Interesting. I tried for almost 2 years and found it way too dark.
Yep, had it on my board for years now. It’s my main solo tone. Love it. Just wish they’d do a mini version of it.
came here to say this. put a micro amp in front and be done ever needing drive options.
I still believe the Green Rhino is miserably underrated... Ever since I got mine, it's been pretty much on 24/7, 365 days a year on my board. Seriously. Best Tube Screamer-like overdrive in the history of Tube Screamer-like overdrives, maybe ever.
Bottom line: The Way Huge Green Rhino Overdrive is my favorite pedal ever, was I clear enough about it? I love the Green Rhino.
My favourite way huge pedal is the pork and pickle. My favourite that you played today was the purple platypus. Cheers!
Awesome shirt Josh.
when you use the ringworm the subtitles writes "laughter" ahaha
I use and like the way huge saucy box OD pedal and the big boxed swollen pickle pedal. Good pedals
I love my Saucy box. It over took the ODR-1 as my favourite overdrive of all time ever forever.
Aside the fact that we are talking about pedals... Josh is probably my favorite youtuber ever! My brothers (who are not musicians) sit on the living room with me to see the show Lol
I don't doubt that Jeorge was an early adopter of the 3PDT stompswitch, but I was always under the impression that it was Mike Fuller who originally ponied up the dough for a switch-maker to produce 3PDTs for his pedals.
