    No pods left behind.
    Bluestripe pipefish appears.
    Pods: Abort mission every pod for himself.

    Careful with pipefish and powerheads. They get sucked up against them all the time and really easily. Just be aware.

    In my experience the bluestripe pipefish actually are pretty good swimmers and hav no trouble dealing with powerheads. But they do not like bright light and like to stay in the shadows. I guess that is why they like to stay at the darker end of your tank. Maybe you could provide a little cave structure in the mangrove tank. It would make the tank more interesting to look at I think.

    Did u find the body of the pipefish ? I lost a fish for weeks on end without finding the body, eventually found it in the filter up pipe , alive and well , also found them in the overflow on other tanks

    I've got 2 Dragon Faced Pipefish... love them - they are actually my only fish except 2 black mollies - in my (hopefully soon) SPS dominant reef ;)
    When I got them 6 weeks ago I had a small Blue Hippo in QT but that got velvet... so I did a Hydrogen Peroxide dip before putting them straight in the display (I had been looking for ages and some came up from a shop I was ordering coral from so I added them last minute).
    I added some Apex and a mix of pods also so I hope the population will be fine long term ;)
    They are such nice fish your ones - I would get a pair of those too but I want some wrasse and I fear not enough pods to go around ;)
    Good luck - hopefully you get a 2nd one and it all goes sweet.

    @Inappropriate Reefer, you should try add some brineshrimp/Artemia to the mangrove tank too. Should add to the variation of food! :) Just try to add as many as possible. (Assuming they are harmless to the fish/coral)

    I bought a couple of orange banded pipe fish without research only to have them waste away, apparently they are one of the more difficult ones to get eating. I’d love to give another a go but would have to be hardy and eat frozen for me to even think about it.

    Hi! Quick question - what's the name of the tall pinkish coral next to the xenia? I'm pretty new to reef aquariums and still learning the ropes. Trying my best to research before diving in! Thanks a bunch for any info you can share 😊

    I have to ask how are you oxygenating the mangrove tank? You have a wave pump but no surface agitation or a protein skimmer and the surface of the water has film which also causes poor oxygen exchange. The water looks cloudy as well?

    Has anyone tried using vibrant to getting rid of bubble algae?

    • @anthonyhernandez5312
      @anthonyhernandez5312 3 роки тому +2

      I would try manually removing it or using some clean up crew/ fish to hit it I’ve heard some mixed reviews with vibrant and killing corals

    • @ZaneRilrey
      @ZaneRilrey 3 роки тому +2

      i mean, vibrantwould also off all of the macroalgae

    • @sunnygoold9449
      @sunnygoold9449 3 роки тому +1

      There is also Continuum Bacter Gen-M I heard is similiar but I use Vibrant - but I stick to the recommended dose - no adverse effects on corals that I noticed but I didn't have much bubble algae and I tried to get it all myself and then I added an emerald crab - I haven't seen any since. The emerald crab was in my sump after I suspected it ate a tiny frag of clove polyps I was given - but everything looks good in my display.
      I'm no expert - saying that I would do it that way again - depending on how much bubble algae I have I would remove as much by hand - don't worry about bursting them - stick to the recommended min dose of Bacter Gen-M to stop it coming back and rely on an emerald crab to get anything I missed.

      @@sunnygoold9449 I have the fluval evo 13 tank been running for 4-5 months. Just noticed I have a good amount or bubble algae popping up. It’s not too out of control but keeps popping up on some of my coral skeletons. I’ve been thinking about getting a emerald crab but heard they pick at corals so a little nervous about getting one. But I’m thinking about since it’s not that many but vibrant is still on the table as well

    • @sunnygoold9449
      @sunnygoold9449 3 роки тому

      @@snake3billion I would start with an Emerald Crab then and see if you need the Bacter Gen-M (I think Vibrant is too expensive for an Evo). I would be more cautious (research) if you have expensive corals it may go after - clove polyps, zoas, gonis etc... I have zoas and a goni and it hasn't touched them that I have noticed. If you were going to go Vibrant or Gen M as a first option then I wouldn't do more than the min recommended dose - that sounds like an option as you have it occasionally show up - that's how I use it... just to stop those spores starting up (and now I maybe dose it once a month or less instead of every 2 weeks) - good luck.

    4 year later 1/1/2024 Have you been able to keep blue stripe alive and flourishing? How often do you replace pods? Thx

    • @InappropriateReefer
      @InappropriateReefer  7 місяців тому

      It was short lived for me unfortunately. I think ReefDudes had good luck with one in a larger reef tank, that’s what I’d do too so it’s not just relying on feeding, but could also hunt itself to supplement diet.
