I grew up on this album, we were a black family blasting Gino's album LOL!! wonderful lyrics, soulful music, and he was cute on top of all that. Go Gino!
Pretty incredible that they were able to recreate this live and better than the album. There are bands that can do this today but none of them are in the spotlight and few of them are making any money. What sad times we live in musically. If that was all a historian had to go by, these would be considered the dark ages.
Not sure why this guy do not have more view did he pass under the radar at some point ? maybe i'm too young to know ? but the symbioses of voice and instrument is so good and so talented i almost cry listening too this just too much talent ...

Brother To Brother is in my top 10 of all-time favorite records. This video has drummer Mark Craney on stage with Gino. For me this is a rare treat. People like him come along once in a lifetime. May he rest in peace. I truely love this.
As I listen to this, it reminds me of so long ago, of an era of music that I crave for and fear will never be the same again, but it was a brilliant time the nostalgic pains!!!! This Album is so beautiful, every thing from the arrangements, Harmonies, of course the bass and Oh the Drumming, Oh Da Drummer man!!!!! Unbelievable. Gino Vanelli, thanks for the great times.
Viewed this for the first time tonight. Blew my socks off and I still had my shoes on!!!!!!!!! I so regret never having seen him live in concert. Absolutely tight as a ducks ass band!!!!! Gino sounds better live than on vinyl!!
is it just me or have any of you who watch this video noticed look around and see the diversity in the audience that was unheard of back then Wow amazing!!!!
Gino Vannelli is just DYNAMITE!! I am in the Generation when he first came out in the 1970's as a teenager; The lyrics for this song fit like a glove for the Civil Unrest going on in the world today. LOVE GINO VANNELLI!!
LadyofValor I listened to him in the 70’s as a young teen. The only radio station that played his music in Kansas City (where I lived) was KPRS. It was nick named the Kolored people’s radio station. It was one of my favorite stations because it played soul and funk. None of my friends listened to this type of music. I was on an island for sure! I still listen to soul, neo soul (Badu and Jill Scott among my favorites) and Gino! I think his music speaks to many people of all ethnicities!
Gino was a huge inspiration for me when I studied music 20 years ago. I was young and extremely hungry for experimental music and Vannelli's 70s-stuff really delivered this. Even though I didn't listen to Gino's music nowadays as much as I did then, he still is one of my favorite composers and singers. Had the pleasure of meeting him twice and he signed all my Gino-albums. Sweet memories. Thanks, Gino! Your music and lyrics sure treated that teenage tender heart of mine into a thinker.
What a talent - what an artist - the voice - the passion - the writing and arranging abilities. He never ever got the recognition he deserved. I remember he was appearing in Dallas one night - so were Hall & Oates. My sister was a dj for the rock station in town - she and I went to see Gino. The rest of the crew went to Hall & Oates. It was the best show I've ever seen - may Gino sing forever....
You've got to be friggin kidding me. How is it possible that Gino was a Pop Artist? This song and performance is in a league with Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick and Emerson Lake and Palmer's Karn Evil 9. Absolutely mind blowing on EVERY LEVEL. Lyrically encompassing about making the world a better place in a spirit of love and brotherhood, musically pushing the absolute limits of rock, jazz fusion and Progressive rock, and this performance - what can be said other than Mercury, Bowie, Roth and the greatest, most dynamic front men in the history of popular music.... Absolutely Mind Blowing!!! THANK YOU GINO VANNELLI!!
funny you should say that .. I just remarked on another video that I consider this song to be better than Bohemian Rhapsody in the "epic song" stakes. I would much rather hear this awesome piece of work than Queen's masterpiece.
The album Brother to Brother was truly ahead of it's time! Mark Craney was awesome. The drumming on this this album was simply breath taking...even now! RIP Mark Craney, your drumming will live on
Awesome! I can barely make it out but it looks like there were about a total of ten extremely talented musicians, including the amazing and powerful backup singer. Pure talent expressed all throughout! But, please let’s acknowledge all of the sound recording engineers and video technicians that worked so hard behind the scenes with little if any recognition. Those people brought all of this exquisite live performance and musical ecstasy together for us to share and enjoy still to date. I thank everyone that was in any way shape or form involved with Mr. Vannelli and his talented brothers’ well deserved success. Pure musical genius!!!
One of the greatest voices EVER in popular music. The band is phenomenal. The songs are so original. I never get tired of listening to his music, even after all of these years. An underrated artist, probably because of the sex appeal and the hair. :-)
Songspirit This concert was from early '80's...he was a GOD back then, you see how he got mobbed...nobody remembers A&M records, people don't even remember "The Tubes"...Gino is STILL enormously popular, his L.A. concerts sell out months in advance...and he still tours the world, just not as much...he's allowed himself to "mature"...watch some of his newer videos...
I know what you're saying. I think the whole band is amazing, the songs are complex and his vocal command is sublime. But I confess.....if I was at one his concerts, I'd probably be crawling up on the stage too. The man is walking sex. What is it about him? Watching him is just....whew. But even just listening to his voice has the same effect.
This was 40 years ago, he's calmed down a LOT, but the voice is still there...but back then he was THE BOMB. The MAN is still singing, was just here in Los Angeles for his annual concert...sorry I missed it.
Saw Gino at Lulu's Roadhouse, Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. The delivery throughout the evening was precision a real viceral musicianship. Love the drummer on this one. Had all the LPs in the 70s...best Canadian artist.
I remember seeing Gino Vannelli here in Detroit during the Brother to Brother tour. Phyllis Hyman was the opening act. Talk about a great, great concert. Both were wonderful! I still have my original LP and am never giving it up!
I'm so happy my parents listened to this as I grew up - it's just so good like Donald Fagen's new album. I'm glad I got Sunken Condos to add to my oldies playlist! Anyone else listen to it yet?
This is so awesome, after all these years I still can't figure how this is possible. This is like: all stops out - but not pulling them out, more like ripping them out as in: "take no prisoners approach". WOW!!!!!!!
YES!!! This man et.all is the true meaning of success!! Never one word or gossip about back-stage drug/drink either!!! We love and need more like him!!!
Without a doubt one of the best singers ever. I’ve seeing live a few years ago and he still has it. I miss the bass solo on the original album but I take my hat off at the drummer Bravo Gino ci fai orgogliosi di essere italiani

Not sure why this guy do not have more view did he pass under the radar at some point ? maybe i'm too young to know ? but the symbioses of voice and instrument is so good and so talented i almost cry listening too this just too much talent ...
he walked away from the industry bs
gives me goosebumps listening to his beautiful voice
There's a lot of great stuff that goes unrecognized. Popularity is simply a different thing.
Geno said that he did not want to be a superstar because he did not want all that came with it and I can't blame him for that. But he is on UA-cam. He is my age now, late 60s. Time flies when you're having fun, huh Gino?
Gino was huge in the 70's! He sold out everywhere. I've personally never seen him, followed from '76. If I get the chance, I'm so there!
what a talent....All the things he can do with his voice. His personality, his looks. Amazing man.
Thank you for your sincere compliment and your love, I am not complete without you as my fan, for whom I must be very grateful
I've listened to this guy since I was about 12. Never get tired of it.
Queen meets Return To Forever meets Rush all wrapped up in a Santana package with a Boston bow on top. How did I not hear about this until just now?
Before Rush, Van Halen, And all your favorites, this guy was killing it!! Yet you all were sleeping in the 60"s This guy started it all!!
I remember hearing this song as a kid in the 70s...and I've been listening to him as a adult for 30s since! I have to get my Gino fix in everyday!
It couldn't happen now - music this challenging being enjoyed by that many people. We've lost something along the way.
Our collective intellect took a hike. Music like this is way too deep for today's audience
Brother To Brother is in my top 10 of all-time favorite records. This video has drummer Mark Craney on stage with Gino. For me this is a rare treat. People like him come along once in a lifetime. May he rest in peace. I truely love this.
Saw em twice...in 1975...storm at sunset....81....in Fort Worth. One of the greatest bands of all time!
Passing the evening watching Gino Vannelli videos.. Great talent, never got the recognition he deserved. Best keep secret in music circles.
One of the best performance in Music in centuries!
This a fine example of a drummer lifting the whole thing with his energy and spirit.
Viewed this for the first time tonight. Blew my socks off and I still had my shoes on!!!!!!!!! I so regret never having seen him live in concert. Absolutely tight as a ducks ass band!!!!! Gino sounds better live than on vinyl!!
Humongously underrated, the best of the bests and unique.
is it just me or have any of you who watch this video noticed look around and see the diversity in the audience that was unheard of back then Wow amazing!!!!
Gino Vannelli is just DYNAMITE!! I am in the Generation when he first came out in the 1970's as a teenager; The lyrics for this song fit like a glove for the Civil Unrest going on in the world today. LOVE GINO VANNELLI!!
LadyofValor
LadyofValor I listened to him in the 70’s as a young teen. The only radio station that played his music in Kansas City (where I lived) was KPRS. It was nick named the Kolored people’s radio station. It was one of my favorite stations because it played soul and funk. None of my friends listened to this type of music. I was on an island for sure! I still listen to soul, neo soul (Badu and Jill Scott among my favorites) and Gino! I think his music speaks to many people of all ethnicities!
the drums in this are criminally underrated
It is amazing that the "Brother to Brother" album was recorded 40 years ago. It has held up very well.
Your music and lyrics sure treated that teenage tender heart of mine into a thinker.
in Britain, Gino was looked at as a musician's musician--I was turnerd on to this group by a musician and every one i knew loved Gino and the band.
The musical was awesome and the lyrics was tight everything about this song was just right 70s groove 4 ever.
What a voice! Love everything about Gino and his band!
Brother to Brother....the best Album produced ever !
Chris Johnson
I agree ...wholeheartedly...those were precisely my thoughts he’s AMAZING 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
funny you should say that ..
RIP Mark Craney, your drumming will live on
Gino is from another planet. Transcendent.
Amazing. I've delved deep into the music pot over the past 40 years and not once have I come across these guys. Simply fantastic.
Nick, now that you have, ENJOY!!!!!
Greatest singer and performer ever! He and his brother, Joe, are "pure magic:!!!!
Mark Craney my favorite drummer. What a treat this is.
Absolutely godly 🎉
Yeahhhhhhhhhhh, what a beautiful performance Gino!!!! Always fan for 40 years now ;)
VJ SWORD Yes, I know. :-)
I know....I had a HUGE crush on him back when I bought "Gist of the Gemini." And I still do!
Awesome!!It didn't take a wrinkle!Still so powerful for believing in brotherhood!
Thanks for sharing
Saw Gino at Lulu's Roadhouse, Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. The delivery throughout the evening was precision a real viceral musicianship. Love the drummer on this one. Had all the LPs in the 70s...best Canadian artist.
one of the best singers..such a voice..such a music!!!!
Obra maestra!!!! grande gino🤩🤩🤩
Without a doubt one of the best singers ever. I’ve seeing live a few years ago and he still has it.
I miss the bass solo on the original album but I take my hat off at the drummer
Bravo Gino ci fai orgogliosi di essere italiani
Thank you for blessing us with your beauty and this beauty!!!
Some the best albums of the 70's and the musicianship always phenomenal!
