Hello Gino lovers! I had the pleasure of playing "Where Am I Going" for him as the drummer with the 7 piece horn-band "Aureus" I was with back in '79 at the Edmonton Hotel in Canada the night before his concert. We had no idea he was in town staying at the hotel. We were huge fans! Gino and his girl walked in the entrance as two shadows as we were playing. We knew immediately it was him and his girl with the big hair they both had back then. What a treat! We met the band including Mark Cranny (drums) and Daryl Stermer (guitar) that night. Then, the next night, Gino had the limo come pick us up and bring us to the concert a mile away during one of our long breaks. It was an amazing sound back from the sound board with one of his brothers at the controls. The Vannelli brothers were such perfectionists! I loved the albums "Powerful People" to "Nightwalker" with Graham Lear, Mark Cranney, then Vinnie on drums. Just an amazing mix of jazz, funk, classical, rock etc. Such soul Gino! Thanks for the memories man. Glad you're still with us. -Mark Anzalone, FL
Bought the vinyl "Storm at Sunup" on a german flea market when I was 20. I new nothing about Gino and his band up to that time. Now I´m 66 and Gino Vannellis music accompanies me during all that years.
Dopo 45 anni che l’ascolto, ancora sento i brividi, che artista. Fare questa musica 45 anni Fa questi suoni, quest’armonia, beh mi fa pensare che e’ un genio……. Grazie Gino
I seen him in '78+79 in Philadelphia. Back in the big hair, open shirt days! Women throwing unmentionables up on stage!! I'm 63 now, and I still play his vinyl albums😊
I loved this song when I was younger. But now that I'm 52 it has even more meaning now and it reverberates in my soul. I love Gino's music. God bless you!
GV IS SO UNDERATED HE IS AHEAD OF EVERY ONE.. HIS VOICE IS WAY OUT THERE.. EARGASM ONLY FOR THOSE WHO APPRECIATED DAMN GOOD MUSIC.. JOE AND GINO.. GIFTS FROM GOD.
My oh my, was he the king of the hill or not!?! Indeed, one of my favorite musicians with a most seriously complex arrangements. Thanks for sharing this jewel.
I agree. Gino, Joe, and his other brother are gifted to such an extent it boggles the mind. It is a God given gift. Boy, do I wish I had an ounce of his talent musically. I studied music as a child, but don't have his genius. But, I do appreciate talent like this. Persons who are given these abilities should feel grateful for them. Gino, please come out and perform in Los Angeles again. Can't wait to see you in 2021. Thank you for posting this video for us to enjoy. 👍
Seriously though. All of his compositions are of such high production quality and musicianship. Each and every musician on his recordings project a high level of musical acumen while still retaining that raw "rock" energy edge. .
My Uncle did all Gino's lights back then. Was at COBO Hall the night he did this along with Mama Coco and the entire " Storm at Sunup" album....truly amazing. Graham Lear on " Love Me Now" and of course on all the tracks was superb, as was the entire band...so tight!
this song .... I heard it back when I was 20 , the lyrics echoed my thoughts and fears ..... now im 65 and appreciate all that life has afforded me .... he is an awesome performer .... love his music
My favorite also. Saw him when I lived in Montréal 3 times. Him and his brother were locals and already popular in our scene. What talent. His bio is interesting ;)
To think of all the sloppily stoned or effeminately attired rock singers around then, and here comes Gino like a toreador, effortlessly masculine in the most artistic way, out-singing everybody and dancing the band with grace and power...
From Storm at SunUp. Gino Vannelli is a master of his craft. A masterful voice. He and Al Jarreau best vocalists in their genre ever. I think this in LA. Those lyrics awesome!!!!
Wow, this reminds me of when I was in college at Tennessee State University when Gino came to Nashville, Tennessee, at the War Memorial. the year was 1976. It was absolutely amazing. Granted it was a small audience, however, Gino stated, " I am going to perform as if it is a full house." Me and my two other college friends gave him a standing ovation for each and every song that he performed and did he performed!!!! He is simply a talented man that is sharing his gift of music and song with us. Thank you Gino Vannelli for all your musical genius that you have given us all these years. I am looking forward to seeing you in the very near future!
A gorgeous pitch and tone. It is enjoyable to see the love he has for music. I heard Gino also teaches music to up and coming students. Paying it forward. What an incredible talent along with his brothers. 🎼🎵🎤💕
This has completely and utterly blown me away... in fact the last two weeks have, just listening to this mans career effectively. My daughter, my second child was born just over three weeks ago and this music has been the soundtrack to my life; I couldn’t be luckier to hear this at this beautiful time. I never post on UA-cam comments wise but after watching this and listening to pretty much everything Gino has done, along with his brother and every fantastic musician he has used, I’ve felt compelled to. Thank you Gino Vannelli for I now know your music will forever see me through the good and bad times ❤️

All of Gino's drummer's are the very best. Graham Leer might be my favorite! In the 70's I would tell my band mates that he bread drummers... Covering his tunes is not easy..
