Great video as always Pete. Glad it worked out. On a side issue.. Killer Deegan did a video where he repeatedly struck a ferro rod with the blade edge of his knife with no problems at all . Didn't even dull the edge.
Hello darkness my old friend...😂 It just cracked me up... I had seen your original video, i have the original first run with black g10 handle, i love it and its my car knife, use it all the time for different tasks no issues
I must say that was a rather large piece you were batoning. I would never ever baton anything like that. That's what a axe Is for. Have you done any Reviews on the Boker Rold Scout or join the navy knife?
Yes i do believe that this and the rold scout designs failed due to your previous video of it breaking lol because they are since discontinued but i have the scout and it performs right alongside my Cold Steel recon scout in O1 about the same however the D2 certainly holds an edge a bit longer...
I love old school video game music especially when companies have the option to use older audio for game playing enjoyment. Y's An Oath In Felghana gives you 3 choices of music I love Y's games, realtime combat is my fave and they mix in story with awesome combat mechanics. Anyways LOL geek moment .....Great knife and I love the grip design, I actually like the tube style handle just like Benchmades Bushcrafter another awesome knife thats on my wish list.
Say Heah Cedric, Yup, I might of said mine was batoned and no problemo. The only thing was the sheath was dangerously loose and I was injured big time so I put a Nylon Belt Loop on it and the handle strap was too loose, but I ended up placing my Mora Classic #1 on the handle strap so now I have both knives that work wood great. I always liked my Black Vox Rold, Dilly, Dilly.,,.p
Great review!Boker needs to make this knife in CPM 3v or even better Z Wear PM with a good heat treat.D2 may be too brittle. Its ok for pocket knives but I would not buy it for batoning etc.
Boker will never use a "good" heat treatment. they do mass manufacturing. its adequate enough for most tho. i think if they were to use 3v this knife would be unobtainable for most.
Haha, batoning is fine. It's safe. Knives are usually less than half the weight. Last I heard they're still making axes out of steel too so geometry probablu matters more than a properly treated steel. Don't cater to those armchair keyboard turds. Great job as always homie
One thing that has to be said in defence of the old (broken knife) and the new successful knife is the wood you are testing it on is way harder with crankier (gnarlier) grain than most commonly encountered in the US, Europe or the UK . Almost any Australian wood is harder than most of the wood used for testing in any US bush crafting video. There are some very hard woods in the US but they are comparatively rare compared to the more generally available softer hard woods . If it can hack Aussie wood it can probably deal with most other woods.
awesome review of a brand i dont particularly like (quality and heat treat issues with ever folder ive ever got from boker china). particularly loved the "excited it didn't crack again" segment. great editing. van dam flying through the air lmao D2 isnt a bad steel for a fixed blade at all. but not great for batoning or chopping due to its ability to chip easily doing so. its a very hard steel and has some toughness at lower rockwell numbers. the problem is D2 is hard to heat treat properly. the chinese certainly dont do this well, but well enough for most. i would recommend if anyone wants a good D2 knife try Carothers Performance Knives xf.bladeforums.com/threads/any-experience-with-nathans-d2.1470902/#post-16929136
do you have photos of the grain structure from the broken blade (lol i wouldnt be able to analyse it with jedi powers but could see if its a large grain or small)? also did they replace it under warranty?
before everyone $hits on Boker, there is different lines Boker magnum is cheap china poor materials and quality but extremely affordable. Boker Plus is better, even high quality materials and good to great quality with good prices made in Taiwan and China. The taiwan being better. The Boker Arbolito are Great high end materials, Great high quality made in argentina with higher prices than the others but cheaper than Solingen. Boker Solingen have the Highest top grade steels, materials, made by hand in Germany.
Great video as always Pete. Glad it worked out. On a side issue.. Killer Deegan did a video where he repeatedly struck a ferro rod with the blade edge of his knife with no problems at all . Didn't even dull the edge.
I'm glad it survived this run.
I like my own Rold. Fortunately did not break. Heavy, well-sharpened and good handing knife !
Nice looking orange!

Your emotional montage made me tear up a bit. For a knife. Glad this one turned out well. Will you be doing a review of the Viking Hand Axe?
The coating held the steel together
I put a leather dangler on the original sheath, works great.
Knife + Knowlegded User = Great Job🖒

I have to agree with your take on that sheath. If it was under your shirt you'd be reaching down through your collar to get at it.
Mission passed!

+Paul'ie 4X yeah that sheath is a mess! Can’t believe they are still selling it with it

There was probably an inclusion in the steel
Anyone else watching for his accent?
Lol
Ahahahahah
Can't make a fire with it. That's actually a massive turn off for me and a total deal breaker.
kyle eaton then file a small spot on the spine
Bit of constructive criticism, that was too much, too much cringe
was it the montage
