Ah, 1978. I was in second grade. My friends and I were still reenacting scenes from Star Wars in the neighborhood, and we were all looking forward to the new Superman movie with great anticipation. Mr. Potato Head and Earthquake Tower were the most fun toys in my room and later that year I would begin a never ending love affair with video games when my folks got us an Atari for Christmas. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Thank you for making these videos. What's really weird is watching this and realizing how so many of those you saw on the Tube back then ended up, like Sadat being assassinated, Pete Rose being barred from baseball, etc. Sometimes you get so caught up in where you are right now that you forget where you've been, and how you lived. Like life itself, these are bitter-sweet reminders.

1978 was pretty cool. Never forget I was 11 years old and my Aunt Jill let me stay up late for the first time ever to watch her favorite show, Midnight Special, with her and was introduced to my future favorite rock singer, Steve Perry in Journey. Also Las Vegas at that time really did look like what people saw on Vega$. I just LOVE all of your videos, they cheer me up when I need a little visual pick me up :)

I was 26 and hubby was 29 and we had just bought a fixer up house in the small city, then, of Yorba Linda, California. Still fixing it up 41 years later but it is paid for. Wow, we both worked and watched movies and tv and read books and listened to music and went on vacations and danced to disco music and ballgames and our lives were never dull! America Rules !

I remember being scared by the Jonestown images on TV, loved the Incredible Hulk and Battlestar Galactica, and had the time of my life during the great Blizzard of '78, when the snow piles were taller than I was! I was 16. My mother got me a cassette of Grease soundtrack as one of my Christmas presents:) I also got a small, handheld radio (Norelco?) anyway, I had so much enjoyment from that little thing that I carried with me everywhere! Used to really like the Nancy Drew shows... I remember "Ready to Take a Chance Again" (Barry Manilow) was so pretty, from the movie "Foul Play," Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase. I had a total crush on Andy Gibb with the Shadow Dancing song, and oh my God, I thought I would die if I couldn't meet Robby Benson (saw him in t.v. version of "Our Town" that June) and they came out with "Ice Castles" movie in December. Loved "Have you Never Been Mellow," "Time Passages" (Al Stewart) and Y.M.C.A. songs.

1978 was actually a pretty fun year for me. I turned 13 in June. we lived in a small town 100 miles from Chicago. I was attending a Lutheran school in Rockford IL where we went to church. I went to Branson MO with my aunt and uncle in July, got sick! my aunt said maybe there was something in the water that didn't agree with me. went to vacation bible school with my friend and ran into a kid from my old school and teased him! I called him "batman" because he had worn a batman costume for trick or treat when we were younger! drove my friend crazy because I wouldn't stop talking about it and giggling over it. a lot of good tunes on the radio, always had it on (WLS Chicago). we got new neighbors so I had more kids to hang out with. visited Chicago's field museum and saw the ruins of Pompei in the fall of '78.

I remember the "blizzard of "78" we were out of school for the entire month of January due to snow and freezing temps .I believe that winter was the one that whad the most snow and digits like 30 below zero that I can remember even now as an adult I still haven't experienced that type of weather again. Anyway "77-78" were both kick ass winters.

I remember the blizzard of '78 also. It was my senior year and we were out for 2 and half weeks there was so much snow. I've been in blizzards since, but the Blizzard of '78 was granddaddy of them all! LOL!!!

I was 6 six years old. I remember most of that, but I didn't realize how much of a memorable year that was for both television and movies. Of course, I remembered that being the year for Grease and Animal House, but I forgot about the other movies that year. What young boys could forget The Incredible Hulk and Battle Star Galactica released on television, especially on the heels of the Star Wars popularity. This was also the year that I remember the first Star Wars action figures hitting the market, which changed everything. On a more serious note, I couldn't read very well, but I was certainly fascinated with the Jim Jones tragedy being all over the news and magazines.

I was 12 in 1978 and I can remember waking up for school and the Jim Jones tragedy was all over the news .At my age I really didn't grasp it all but now I realize it was about ppl that were searching for a happy place where they felt like they belonged only find out later (if they were one of the lucky ones to get out in time) that they were living and being controlled by a psychopath.

I turned 11 in November of that year and the biggest thing I remember was the release of Superman The Movie. My sister was into Greese. She had the
album and played it over and over all the damn day long.I got to the point I could sing every song from overhearing it in my bedroom next to hers.
It was a great time for genre T.V. Man from Atlantis, The Incredible Hulk, Battle Star Galactica and Wonder Woman were all favorites of
mine and Quicy MD was a favorite of my mother on Friday nights.

I started watching these because I dreamed I was in the house I grew up in...but other than Dallas, I see TV shows I wasn't allowed to watch & music I had no idea was so old.

I was 'warming-up' for the toughest 10 years of my life. Already immersed in alcohol when Cocaine came around I jumped in feet first. As the saying goes when you find yourself in a hole quit digging, I quit digging in '89 and climbed back out into the sun; God, it was good, I had forgotten how to laugh or smile without something to alter my mood. Was not all bad, we'd close down the restaurant keeping only the Coke-dealing customers and dance til dawn but I paid dearly the morning after; glad I got clan & sober young, surprised I remember as much as I do!
