This is so epic. Some moments really deserve to be rewinded and watched again at 0.25x speed. Barabasz should have a voice line "that's a nice armpit you have under your shoulder" with the tone of Mount&Blade sea raiders.
03:21 Is a really cool moment to replay at 0.25 speed. It shows that the guy on the left should have won. Her sword bounced onto his shoulder. His saber went right through her throat - but the game only registered a cut to the lower arm. Guess there is only so much realism you can expect even from this game. ;)
Isabella needs work, but she cut at his shoulder and upper arm. At that strength the blade would have torn through the deltoid and dislocated the shoulder, at which point the saber wasn't even in swing. So the blade does hit her but it's staggered and weak, which would make sense if control of the shoulder had been lost at that point. There's other examples where this doesn't apply though - a few of the matches Gedeon's blade clearly strikes vital organs first, Isabella's blade hits almost a half-second later but it still registers as a full hit, when in reality her blow (which was cut at the arm) should not have completed. Hopefully in time the game will get a lot more tweaks and updates to fix balancing issues. I think the devs also sometimes have to think just as much about playability when balancing the game as as much combative realism, otherwiise you'd have players that are too OP (like Isabella recovering from the stun in this case).
I don't see what was broken with Isabella. You even point out the success you had with long guard, which it looked like you avoided late in match. In the last bout she got you with what you should have used against here. Bind from long guard and then either advance and cut at the leg, or retreat and cut at the hand.
It does make sense- because with two hands on weapon you have better control, not to even mention that longer handle allows your hands work in such way, that if one pushes, then other pulls, greatly speeding up blade movement- imagine a fulcrum between your hands, if that lets you understand it better
@@heretyk_1337 Hypothetically that would be true, but the fact of the matter is the weight of it, while reasonable since two handed weapons are not as heavy usually as people assume, still has torque of the thicker end working against you with a hard swing, and is harder to recover compared to a single-handed weapon such as with fencing. A fencer with a sufficiently thin blade will barely feel the weight and the speed will always without question (with roughly equal training) outspeed a two handed weapon. Same with the other single blade weapons used here with the possible exception of the falchion. But the bastard sword is fairly thick and the ones I have swung have shown a definite difference in weight even with the dexterity of a two-handed use to control it better. From a gameplay standpoint she should be the slower and you would need to plan as her how to handle the slight slowness, instead it's the opposite, she's definitely an imbalanced character.
@@gaelstromproductionsmaybe i put it in wrong words. What i meant is that recovery and direction changed are very fast with two handed swords- rapiers for sure are very fast at "jabbing", but in my experience they require quite a lot of strength, because they still are quite heavy swords- for one handed sword that is. So while point play is very fast, because of weight distribution, it is still very often over 1 kilo held in outstretched hand- and those two women in game do not look particulary "butched" if you know what i mean But i understand you in context of game
@@gaelstromproductions it's true, that she kinda breaks the balance of the game, but that's what you get when focusing on realism. A longsword simply is a better dueling weapon than a saber. More reach, more mass, more speed in the small movements and more versatile.
Isabella is awesome. Seriously my favourite characters in this game are all female. 2 of them because I am a rapierist and Isabella because she is the best longsword fighter in the game.
Why do people pick rapiers or scimitars knowing full well that they’re just making it harder on themselves, like yeah man you’ll totally stand a chance with less moves and strategies than your opponent, who is wielding a regular sword
I’ve genuinely been waiting decades for a game like this
I love the new longsword impact sounds
Same here
12:53 Your sword really said "clang" when it hit under right's arm.

game design is hard D: im sure they're working hard to make the hitreg as accurate as possible

You are so Who-yo-vy, but still I like watch this goov-no. Great video and greate match my friend.

The realism puts Mortal Kombat to shame.
I dont think games like Mortal Kombat are going for realism.
Since when does mk go for realism
Mofo's in the comment section getting wooshed left and right
Longsword is overpowered?
Хорошая штука меч, но медленная... бои очень реалистичные👍
One thiing I noticed that kind of annoyed me is the one-handed swipes actually were slower than the two-handed, which didn't make sense.

Real sword fights dont last too long at all, one erong move and it's game over
Each round is 3-5 months of healing later
Sometimes they just would die of bloodloss after the fight

Style
scimitar and rapier have different movesets
Idk, ask the Mongols or the Ottomans.
Or the Arabs who fought against Christendom, and won more then they lost.
You have no idea what you’re talking about.
