Hi Ricky. For sound insulation, go to the b n Q. type place and buy some removal blankets and make wall curtains. these are.less than a tenner each and stop 90% of the echo. think they are 3 m x 1.5 meter a cotton woven blanket thingy ( removal blanket)
    good luck!

Sharing is caring, i actually use them for curtains and they work great, cheaper than real curtains and easy to find when you move:-). I also have one clamped to a clothing rail to move around off camera a mobile sound damper, if you only do audio you can move it to an optimal place it's amazing the difference a couple of blankets make.

It’s amazing how much space we have when we clear a room isn’t it. We are going on a clearing journey this year too, I reckon we need to reduce what we have by half to have a comfortable living space again. I’m tackling the sheds this week as we have the tip booked for next Monday.
Good job on the studio room, and with all that space, if you did have a guest you could always borrow my inflatable double bed we use at camping and put it up in that room too, now you’ve gotten rid of your guest bunks lol. Looking forward to the next video !

Clearing clutter is very cathartic, might do you a world of good 👍
Thanks, yeah I figured it would become the guest bedroom if needed so no doubt there will be an inflatable guest bed on my future purchase list at some point.
Let me know if you need a hand with the decluttering 😊👍❤️

Love it! Rick you could consider using that corner as the set, both walls with the black tiles. corners often work well in sets like that - check out Good Mythical Morning sets, they always use a corner! Loving this series! Oh and house tour soon please!? 🥳

You are such a pleasant person and I can't tell you how much i enjoy following you through this process. 🥰If you did a 24 hour livestream, i'd watch it too! Btw: I found you quite a while ( ~2 or 3 years) ago when i wanted to learn how to make a proper cup of tea. You taught me and then I stayed.

Rick drank TEA? Oh that must be a ways back. He's only been on about his coffee since i've been watching. I just drink PG Tips decaf. My tea connoisseur days are over.

Rick, I am finding your commitment to fun very inspiring! And your ability to create a craft room of such functionality in a relatively small space is incredibly cool. Lovely to see you so fired up my your new project. Enjoy!

Rick, you could rent a Rug Doctor machine from your local diy shop for not too much money & get your carpet cleaned up. I've used them before and they do a decent job.

I am so excited to follow you through this process! You having a podcast is an inspired idea and I can't wait for it to air! As far as today's video, it was especially impactful for me when you discussed the importance of not thinking the thing to death and never actually starting it. Congrats!🎉🎉🎉🎉

Tremendous amount of work done in such a short space of time Rick. Well done and look forward to seeing all the updates. I am especially interested in how you solve the "echo" chamber effects that dog so many in the sound production.

Holy Moly you are certainly going for this one. I have a simple rule of thumb, if I haven't physically touched something in 12 months, I don't need it😉

It's inspired me to make a 'work space' in my place. Having set up a few video and photography studios including one to record bands heavy curtains help with sound deadening, plus it helps you control light better blocking out the window if you do video

Loving the podcast plans, as someone who’s had a Doctor Who podcast for a while and who does a lot of recording, I’d recommend having a look at some k&m wall mount mic stands. It’ll keep Mic stands off the floor and you’ll be able to swing the mics in and out when needed. Plus you could also mount cameras off them! Just a thought

I’m sure you’ve seen them already but you can get quite nice looking wooden strip soundproof panels from b&q which you could use as a backdrop

Oh this is great. Looking forward to the podcast. I just wrote a piece on suicide prevention. I have a goofy YT channel w not many subscribers, but I'm a published writer nationally. And I've had SO many emails on my last article. So many people hurting. You can do anything from UFO's to suicide prevention to living alone. On my street, many of us are alone. Each of our circumstances are different. Lots of things you can do. The world, dear sir, is your oyster.

Im not sure why you need the big room dedicated to a podcasting space, something you previously said you may not be pursuing too often because its a well covered format, to squeeze the workstation & craft room that you use more into the small room. Whilst i can see the benefits of down sizing / decluttering & better utilising space but turning over the smaller room for podcasting would be the better option & less work?

Super progress! It is great to see a blank canvas!
I hope this doesn't put you off but couldn't you just sit down on your sofa in the living room with the microphone there?

The corner plan sounds good, but what's the table for, or is it just for coffee? Plants behind are good, as are uplighters. You are going to have to interview your alta ego in that other seat. I've forgotten her name, the blonde 👱‍♀️

This is a great little project, but I'll admit I'm a little confused as to why you dismantled a perfectly functional craft room and crammed it into the box room.
Why not just set up your podcast studio in the box room to begin with? It's a smaller space, so the acoustic treatment will be far easier, why do you feel you need such a large area?
