      I appreciate your observation but personally I TRY not to rush to judgment on a person based on their facial expression. He may just have been surprised in some way and displayed a kind of automatic response to challenge. I mean you could be right, I am just saying.
      Also as a lawyer and Senior Vice President of Policy, Trust, Data, and Technology and General Counsel at the Information Technology Industry Council with numerous and powerful members he might be considered remiss in his duties if he did not take a defensive posture at least initially to any accusation. I wish the world did not work that way and he could have immediately and directly expressed sadness and remorse at such a terrible event occurring.
      AI is certainly a major milestone in the advancement of the Human Race. I am not sure if I envy the young people growing up in this world who will be tasked with managing this transformational evolution in science and technology. It brings to mind a saying from the earlier days of computer programming. "Garbage in, garbage out."
      One of my favorite quotes which I often share in discussions such as this is from Alexander Solzhenitsyn.
      "the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either-but right through every human heart-and through all human hearts. This line shifts. Inside us, it oscillates with the years. And even within hearts overwhelmed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained. And even in the best of all hearts, there remains… an unuprooted small corner of evil."
      Maybe we can discern that "one small bridgehead of good" in this man, enter there, and build a better or workable tool for the human race. Will we ever find a "human heart" in "artificial intelligence"?

      The Social media companies have made no legitimate effort to curb the rampant mental health breakdown caused by their products.
      The pharmaceutical companies pushed out covid medications that had no observable impact on the spread of the virus and they also kept hidden the serious side effects.
      Essentially, every single "Online" media platform was found to have colluded with the federal government in an effort to stifle inconvenient public information and censor opposing political viewpoints.

      I think it is even more terrifying to consider that the government gets control of AI and has that technology doing its biding. Why? How many people have companies actually killed? Now compare that number to how many of their OWN PEOPLE governments killed in the 20th century. Soviet Union 40,000,000 by the Holodomor starvation, 6,000,000 million died in the Nazi death camps, 60,000,000 were killed in China during the "Great Leap Forward", 2,000,000 by the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. And since you think it can't happen here: 60,000,000 in the US by abortion. And those numbers don't even include how many died in wars with other governments. You can always sue the person who used the tool to kill your kid or whatever. Section 230 says you can't sue the platform that makes it available. It's like saying you can't sue a gun manufacturer for a murder. Sue the murderer. If an AI on Facebook tells your kid to harm himself, don't sue Facebook. Doesn't makes sense. Also I would say it doesn't even have to be conscious, all it has to do is mimic it. This thing would "think" at almost the speed of light and not just one "thought" but many, many, and at this point I see only two outcomes. 1. It just offs us after it's able to or just by accident or it see us indifferent like we look at ants. I also believe perfect alignment is impossible.

      To literally answer your question, it probably falls under the Intelligence Alphabet Agencies (CIA, FBI, NSA,even DHS). They will claim that ", "misinformation" is a threat to 'National Security' and will eventually label those they accuse of spreading what they deem as misinformation as terrorists, enemies of the state, and any other catch phrase that will lend to discrediting people and alienating them.
      This whole "disinformation" and "misinformation" agenda really does reek of hypocrisy and deliberate counter intelligence strategy. Why do I say this? The CIA itself has admitted to running operations and programs whose intent were to control the media of the United States and to DELIBERATELY MISINFORM THE AMERICAN PUBLIC SO MUCH SO THAT "EVERYTHING THE AMERICAN PUBLIC BELIEVES , IS FALSE".
      Let me quote the then Director of the CIA and his statement regarding this program of deliberate disinformation they've been carrying out for decades:
      "We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." - William J. Casey, CIA Director ...
      This was an operation that is still being carried out today. It's part of a larger Operation or program called Operation Mockingbird (it's obvious why it's named as such- to have all intelligence and information echo that of what the CIA choose for the people to hear and believe as "truth" or "fact".
      Operation Mockingbird is an alleged large-scale program of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) that began in the early years of the Cold War and attempted to manipulate domestic American news media organizations for propaganda purposes.
      This would carry over to include the suppression and manipulation of all intelligence/information avenues. News, media, educational curriculum, history books, social media, etc al .
      And it's goal in all of this decades of work exacted out on the American people....to completely deceive every American through extensive disinformation agendas, so much so that everything you and I believe...say it with me, "everything" we believe to be true, correct, the truth....is all false. All lies! A disinformation! And all done so with the most skillful of intent.
      That's who deserves to be "cancelled", just like JFK was intending to do...."dismantle the CIA , tear it to pieces and cast it to the winds". He knew who the real enemy of the State, and of the people really was. He knew who was and is the true terrorist organization of the world. He identified who the deep state is and what they were doing. And they killed him for it! Don't think it was Lee Harvey Oswald as they tell you it was. And why not? Because everything they tell us is false!! Their words, their agenda, the operation, not mine.

Leaded gasoline. What agency could say if it's right or wrong? Just because soil and water contamination, and human lead poisoning levels went down after an agency mandated unleaded gasoline is no reason to think they could tell what is right or wrong. Have you ever read of how the FDA came into existence? What was in everday food items prior to that was Literally killing people.

  • @dcsteve7869
    @dcsteve7869 4 місяці тому +6

    This is a hard subject to approach. I'll address it as best I can.
    First, kids are the responsibility of their parents. The problem is they're not parenting. Why should a company be held accountable for the failures of a kids parents to do their job? The only realistic remedy for this is for parental controls on services that can be locked out by those parents. The same should be available for porn sites. PARENTS need to impose controls on their kids.
    Second AI absolutely is important and can be leveraged for the benefit of the people and work. AI is an adaptive technology however. What they learn is what they spit back out. Again why should the corporations be held accountable because some idiot relies on his opinion of the world from a chatbot? The person is unstable, nobody who has any grip on their life is going to listen to some stupid chatbot. Is this the weak society we've become? Is this the weak society we want to live in where people are able to sue over something as ridiculous as a chatbots runaway rantings? Hell no.
    finally I agree with Senator Hawley on many things. Border security, gun rights, and so on, but the cornerstone of conservatism is SELF GOVERNANCE and RESPONSIBILITY FOR ONES OWN ACTIONS. In this case we are supporting neither. Rather we're suggesting that companies should face liability for the incidentals of technical failure in the virtual world, the NON CONSEQUENTIAL world where the impact is mitigated by simply ignoring the static or logging out from those services. This isn't the same as a car manufacturer who's brakes have a design flaw. If an AI chatbot goes off the rails, it doesn't physically harm anyone. THAT is entirely the result of the persons who decide to take it seriously.

    • @Coldend
      @Coldend 4 місяці тому +1

      It's not really a hard subject to approach. You're missing the point or misdirecting by singling out one case, and making it a judgement for the principal. I'll agree with you, that a cornerstone of our liberty is based on self-governance and responsibility... however, you rob 'the people' of their ability to govern by limiting the power of civil law to impose penalties on companies. You further limit the ability of 'the people' to govern when you grant special legal immunities to corporate entities.
      Here's an example of injuries that AI can create...
      1. It aggregates the work-product of generations of programmers, artists, authors like a giant grab-bag of resources and then it spits out an approximation of what those individuals may have produced, like assembling a puzzle. AI companies would have you believe this is 'emergence', and creates something new that they own (rather than it being damaging theft from the original authors).
      2. When a programming applicant applies for a job, companies will often ask them to prove their skill by solving problems. Some companies have been accused of using this technique to get free labor coding their actual products. ... with AI, this would be even easier to do, and practically impossible trace.
      3. Language translation has become a very automated product, as a result of aggregating the work-product of many people doing actual translations into automated solutions (AI or not). This devalues a necessary skill, and places that skill into the hands of very few people to administer. Instead of a plethora of differing translations that would give nuance and meaning to idioms and concepts that don't directly translate... instead that nuance is homogenized away.
      This is a harm to the individuals that fall victim to their education, expertise, and training being harvested... but it is a harm to our civilization as well, because it will discourage a large number of people from participating in industries where we need for incentives to exist for creative human minds to expand the boundaries of the field. A way to prevent that would be to hold companies civilly responsible for proving they are not engaging in a plagiaristic strip-mining of the intellectual artifacts of our culture, for private gain. They should have to prove that in court over and over, as any other company would to defend their copyright or patents.
      SEC 230 denies individuals from even attempting to have their day in court and lose, and that's un-American

      @@neilweigand7258 because it's a stupid idea with either and the law is supposed to protect firearms companies from those frivolous lawsuits anyway. Blaming the gun or the bot is no different than blaming cars for the deaths caused by drunk drivers

      But they are doing it! Remington had to leave New York because of the lawsuits! So why not be able to sue big tech?@@dcsteve7869

      @@Coldend AI doesn't do that. industry decides to take that path base a cost/benefit analysis. If it's cheaper to have AI wash through applicants so be it. Additionally if applicants don't recognize when they are being harvested for code, how good are they as programmers and managers of their own intellectual property? No honest company is going to ask you to "solve for...." in a way that required long and in depth problem solving. A skills evaluation should be done in such a way that it touches on the basics of that required skill. Our company has rules of ethics and guidelines for this. Others may not been when has this ever been not true, and how often has anyone who's been conned actually met with a successful outcome from their attempt to sue for damages? The real answer is not often.
      and in any case again this is not the fault of AI but the fault of the REAL PEOPLE behind the tool. Blaming AI for problems that have existed forever isn't a real argument for allowing companies who simply offer online AI services to all to be sued on a very low bar of culpability due to someone elses actions. AI is a tool, thats it. NO DIFFERENT than any other tool, form of entertainment, or online interaction. Use at your own risk
