In Spain we have an idiom "Virgencita, que me quede como estoy", (Little Virgin, let me stay as I am). It means that sometimes is better staying as you are in this moment that continue and put the things worst. So, let Futurama dead, and that dies being excellent, because if it come back it will become The Simpsons. Let it cancelled.
I think when you break it all down the reason we love Futurama is because it is the same things we loved from all great movies and TV shows that came before it.

Futurama SHOULD reference Thunderbirds too. Even though Planet Express Ship looks like Thunderbirds 2 i dont know if Matt Groening took inspiration from that aircraft when designing the ship.

I disagree with the Fight Club one, and the aliens one at the end. Those are reaching a little hard. Otherwise seems spot on. The lost weekend might be wrong too, since that "dazed walking" bit has been done in a LOT of movies and tv shows.

I don´t want Futurama to come back. Even if the fans don´t like it, it is better to cancel the series when it is good, so every episode is a good episode.
