Great vid, really shows how well versed in classic TV/Cinema the writers of the Simpsons were during the show's Golden Age. Also, the vortex at 0:22 closely resembles the vortex in "Evil Dead 2 (1987)" and RoboHomer's lock on vision at 2:03 resembles Arnie's lock-on vision in "The Terminator (1984)".
Movies/TV shows I've seen so far: Frankenstein, Poltergeist, The Shining, The Exorcist, The Twilight Zone, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Bride of Frankenstein, RoboCop, A Clockwork Orange, Gremlins, Child's Play, King Kong, Pet Sematary, Night of the Living Dead, The Birds, Fantasia, Bram Stoker's Dracula, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Jurassic Park, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Godzilla, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scrambled Aches, Predator, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, and Tron.
2:08 Alfred Hitchcock Presents 4:04 Fantasia 4:56 A Charlie Brown Christmas 5:10 The Outer Limits 6:34 The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad 6:42 Looney Tunes
3:42 That musical score will now forever lead into Dankmus' D I D - Y O U - R A I S E - T H E - D E A D in my head. That Gunshot beat has taken priority over my memories of the episode
Yep. A homage is one thing--taking wholesale plot points, characterization, lines, 4th wall breaks over the pop-culture references they are "spoofing" : all of these are not spoofs. They are parodies. One is lower than the other, as the adaptations are poor parodies that occasionally try to be clever by subverting the original ending/theme/aesop/moral or just plain play it outright. Recreating famous horror/thrillers in animation (western, adult orientated) was novel in 1990. But even looking back, and watching all the "classic" Simpsons? The writing is kinda shite, and inconsistant characterization. Lisa was a commie pinko and a Mary Sue/ mouthpiece for the writers , whoever it may be. As early as the 2nd and 3rd seasons--Lisa is a fucking commie and its played so straight that it's blatant the writers put her on a pedestal and thought it was "subtextual" and innovative to have a boring, savant 8 year-old do whatever agenda the writers wanted to push. There is no "classic Simpsons." Just a bunch of episodes that are good. 30 years worth of material--something will stick! This character will be funny! Biggest mistake writing wise was not ageing the characters--not even 1:1. It would've been an incredible opportunity to tell more and more mature themes, while also making possible scenarios that can't be when everyone is 10 or 8 for 30 years. Instead the kids are assholes and both savant level of intelligence, just polar opposites of each other and use their intelligence/cunning to do whatever they want. Puke.
Homer: oh my god I’m gonna be sucked into a black hole I’m gonna be sucked into oblivion I’m gonna be nothing and what’s gonna become of me on the other side I don’t know!!

Melanie Greene More like 2:07, 4:03, 4:55, 5:09, 6:33, and 6:41 to me in my personal opinion.
The funny thing about Homer cubed is that the episode aired 1 month before Toy Story premiered in theaters.
Marge: "Did you barricade the door?"
Homer: "Why? Oh, the zombies. No."
And he even sits with the board and hammer in his hands
3:42 That musical score will now forever lead into Dankmus' D I D - Y O U - R A I S E - T H E - D E A D in my head. That Gunshot beat has taken priority over my memories of the episode
1:41 is my favorite twilight zone episode
You forgot the punchline: He was a zombie?
7:47 Chef was right, Twilight Zone did it first.
